But if Wayne were really serious about these s/ns indeed belonging to Ferraris owned by Matt, then what was Wayne doing by posting in all these threads, questioning Matt's ownership, at the same breath?

Or was Wayne just teasing somebody with funny s/ns??

My feeling is that we have not yet heard the end of this from Wayne. This guy has come prepared.

Ahhhhh, Now I see what Wayne was talking about. The car in these pictures looks like pics from 2 different cars, a black car front end with a red car back end. Dave E noticed this right away.

Good attention to details guys. I didn't catch this.

The excuse that it's a two-tone Boxer doesn't fly, soorrrrry.

But LWA has already posted the purported s/n of the BB512i. He posted it in another thread pertaining to Matt's cars as:

"82 512bbi S/N 40141
78 308 GTS S/N 24825"

If any of the 50 people here would do the research on whether or not it's bogus car/ownership, I would have thought that they would have done so already.

You got that right :-), I want to paint her Yellow, as that was the original colour, but my wife wants me to paint her Red.

Thus there is a high likelihood that she will be Red I guess ... unless I stay strong :-), hahaha.

Cliff said : The probable reason Matt would rather show the pictures personally rather than post them is that if he posts them at Ferrarichat, 50 members will start searching to prove the cars are owned by someone else.

Answer to that is : then post copies of the Title and Registrations

Nice Alfa. I drove one of those around LA for a while. It looked great in red. I notice you are using the same chassis rolling table that I am using on my P4. To keep mine from rusting I asked John to paint it. He asked me what color I wanted.
Blue I replied. Next time I saw it, it was yellow. He explained Sal wanted it Yellow. Funny thing restoration.

Fraud? just more prolonging tactics with no proof. Why is it so hard to just show some real pics and prove a point? If i had a ferrari i would be posting pics thats for sure. So eventually when i do get my first, I will have pics! The giver of hard times cant take his own medicine.......

I'm sorry Rob, yes you may know Matt and all, but we need one of the following to solve this issue:

1. A complete appology to Tony Roberts and anybody else 'God' has given a hard time to. Yes Tony lied, but that did not deserve the bashing he got. Also a promise that this sort of crap stays off your lovely board. After all it was Matt that caused the last lowest time in FerrariChat history ... ie. the Tony Roberts BS.

2. Matt does as he strongly stated to Tony, ie. put up the pictures or leave the board. Fair is fair after all. Plus he should prove ownership, since he wants to play those games.

3. Kick off all non-owners and have an entry requirement to enter SN and prove ownership ... okay the cuts me out, but I can live with that.

4. Ignore it altogether, and we can all form our own opinions of Matt and Tony ...

Personally I'll stay for awhile (if you will let me) but it is not that important in the end, or though I would like to continue to follow Jim's P4 restoration. But I really did think that the treatment the Ferrari owners gave Tony was very sad ... no wonder many think Ferrari owners are not the nicest people in the world. I've raced against a few and they seemed like normal people to me ... if a little superior.

Anyway Rob it is your board, but you personally knowing Matt does not mean he is a better person than Tony Roberts ... in the end Tony just got a little excited, and tried to join a club ... where ownership is not the credential, but enthusiasim IMO. And you vouching for Matt is saying that in your opinion he is ... after all you let Tony get slaughtered by Matt.

Welcome to the internet I guess ... maybe a months ban for Matt (if he wont put up the pictures) would allow the integrity to survive ... if you want it to :-).

Your call ...

Pete
ps: Again I am a non-owning enthusiasts ... but if you want to see a picture of my Alfa follow this link http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=856, I have nothing to hide.

I just honestly think (and hope) there is a reasonable explanation for both of your sides!

Ive admitted, the only car I have seen of his is his 308...But from riding along with him on a lot of the drives, the things he mentioned about his Boxer and the details he told me about the restoration of it all just seemed so solid and truthful. Why would he have gone through the trouble of getting his story straight with little holes, and especially telling me (a teenager) about it if he didnt actually own the car? What did he have to impress me for by making up lies about a phantom car? I just have a lot of doubts about this whole thing...

Honestly though, if he did lie or not, you both are two of the most respected members of this forum...I would trust my life with either one of you! I just hope this resolves in a way where not only can you two regain trust in each other, but that this online community can still benefit from the contributions of both of you. I know its already too late for Matt and his departure, but hopefully he will come back...Id be sad if he didnt. As for you Wayne, continue to expell your vast knowledge on us (especially me :-))

I think Im done with this thread!

Jordan, your comments are just as welcome and valued here as anyone else's. I think that a lot of us like Matt and would hate to believe that he has been misleading us, especially about something so silly and pointless. Personally, I've never owned any Ferrari and am not at all ashamed to admit it. You'd better believe that, if the only Ferrari I'd ever owned happened to be a 1978 308GTS, well, I'd be damned proud of it!

Jordan, Joe is absolutely right. The first stall tactic was "I don't have to prove anything." The second was sending empty files that he thought Rob wouldn't be able to open. Now it's "wait until next week." He obviously knows how to use his computer and could have sent the photos to Rob if he had them to send.

Now we will have to wait until next week to see what his latest excuse/stall tactic will be. I think it's obvious he doesn't have photos and he's recently announced in the SoCal section that he is, once again, finished with F-Chat. If any of you were foolish enough to take Robin up on his bet, go ahead and pay up the $100.

Matt purchased several Ferrari restoration decals from me. I would imagine they were for a car. If I remember correctly he didn't take the BBi decals because his car was carbed and not injected. I believe Matt and he doesn't have to prove anything to me.

Yes and Matt told me that after I replied back to him. However, the attachments had zero data in them. So once I get something with data and in a format I can view, I will let everyone know. This entire thing will be over. Matt can explain the entire thing like he's doing such a good job at right now.

still, even more emails are coming in all saying the same thing... Matt is a nice guy, he has a 308, nobody has seen the BB or 250 pf, he claims JRV did the work on the BB, and he sold the BB to a local FCA prez.

Ok, so who's still supporting Matt? He really needs it right now. So anyone that can validate his claims, please make this craziness come to a quick end.

Nobody is doubting that he's passionate about Ferraris, organized great Ferrari events in Cali, and has been very helpful to me and other FC users. That's not in question.

The only questions are his claims related to the BB and 250 pf.

As of tonight there is even less information in his favor.

1) The "pictures" Matt emailed me are of a rare and unknown format to windows with a IFO extension. Actually, the files had 0 data in them, the file names were doctored to indicate they contained data... "me, 308 and 512 in garage.ifo (90 B)". This was an obvious and intended decoy.

2) With all the attention this has received I have been getting several e-mails vouching that Matt has a 308, is very nice, and has organized great events in Cali. However, they have no indication of the BB or 250 pf. They also indicate that it was verbalized that JRV worked on his BB, but we already know JRV only provided help over the phone and email.

3) Matt won't share the s/n of his BB to protect the "buyer". What's wrong with sharing the s/n? Several also have heard in person that one of the local FCA leaders bought the car. This has been verified to be false so far.

4) The 250 was claimed by Matt to be at a couple shows, yet it has been proved the car wasn't there.

I'm still not making a verdict yet, but there is still much information I haven't made public yet. Maybe that's why I came accross so strong in this thread, but several didn't understand why.

I hope to God that Matt sends me the pictures and everything checks out to be OK. Come on, Matt is a computer guy, why would he use an extension that is so rare. My 80 year old grandpa knows to send images over the net jpg or gif. The files having no data in them was done on purpose by Matt.

Even after all of that, I still haven't given up on him. I hope it's just a game to him right now and he'll go on for weeks giving incomplete and inaccurate information only to yell "Suprise, April Fools!"

Someone vouch for Matt or Matt send or show me pics, that's as easy as it is to end this. If I had the time I would go through your posts and requote you as it's appropriate.

I could be wrong..but didn't Matt take his BB to JRV for service? Or I'm I getting confused with someone else. I really don't see how owning a BB is anything really speacial. Heck being a mechanic even I could afford to own one!! I'm sure Matt makes a heck of alot more money then I do so really in then end it's nothing to speacial of a car. It's funny to me when somebody says they have a 308 or a GT4 nobody questions that..but when somebody says they have a BB everybody gets their backs up!! Heck you can buy one for almost the same money as a 328 for crying out loud. If he has the car congrats!! If he does not have the car who cares?? Does it really affect your life one way or the other? I can't see how it would, and if it does then you my friends are the ones with the problems.

  • The F50 I have? 1/24th scale. DES, I won't be able to give you that test drive I promised.
  • I shot J.R.
  • I put the bop in the bop-shoo-wop-shoo-wop. However, I did not put the ram in the rama-lama-ding-dong.
  • I took the tags off the mattresses before they were delivered to the consumer. And you know what? I'd do it again in a heartbeat, and you CAN'T stop me!!!
  • New Coke? That was my idea.
  • I told Rubens Barrichello to let Michael win in Austria last year...

I certainly hope that everyone at Ferrarichat can get back to their normal lives here now that I got all that off my chest. I just pray that the F-Chatters here don't think any less of me.

Oh yeah, I also told Gary Coleman to run for Governor of California. Sorry 'bout that.

Let's see if I can help with some ideas to solve this, then we can move on

1. Just post pics of the serial number nameplates. Not much opportunity for pics in a book with just those.

2. Or just post copies of the registrations. Just mark off your street address.

3. Or just have some buddies that have been to your house and have seen the cars, plug in here and validate.

4. Or just post some receipts and service records of the BB Rob Lay was referring to.
I did a quick search and this is what came up http://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/256120/149999.html

Or if you don't want to post, just send it to Rob.
Hope this helps guys.

Jordan, I think alot of people care.

I think the point is, he is the first on someones case about them owning a real car and to show proof but when it comes to him its no ones business. That just seems wrong, I think thats the problem here. Taste of the own medicine..

Well, I know he has at least one Ferrari. Unless he gave me my first Ferrari ride in a damn good kit car. It is in the picture in my profile in front of my house...

So who really cares?

I'm simply amazed at grown men acting like tenage girls. "I won't let him have a picture!" "You're a liar!" "you have low IQ!"

In terms of insults these are pretty awful. Come on guys - step up the rhetoric a little. Act like the captains of industry you really are. Throw out some nuclear explosion level insults. Make us proud!

1. I am not Il Commendatore. I'm sure that can be verified by checking IPs or whatever.

2. Forget about the transaction gone bad. I didn't even mention his name when I posted that. I will send that thread to the TOFAS file if it pleases the court.

3. I will not use any pictures Matt provides for any book or other publication or for anything at all. If Matt proves that he owns this car, then I will not even mention it in my book. It's actually the least important car on the entire list of cars and, up until Matt contacted me to tell me he had found the car and was considering buying it, 0853GT was actually on the list of cars to possibly eliminate in an attempt to narrow the focus of the book.

4. Until now, I've never been insulted by another F-chat member. Some of his insults have been pretty standard stuff, but I'm really starting to like "IQ 20 Boy."

With this many posts, you'd think it was something I started. I'd let it go. There is no reason to take sides, make comments, or do anything further. This issue didn't arise in a public thread, these are both very good guys, and there is no reason to let this feed.

It would be a shame to lose Matt or Wayne from this board. They both contribute quite a bit. Continuing commentary on whose right, whose wrong, and why not pics, only serve to split this up. There is no good reason for this to continue.

Rob:

I thought we had a bickering thread, and why isn't this there?

With all this talking about being honest, I have to confess, my F355 is really a kit car. It's a Ferrari body on a Fiero chassis. But I do have a Fiero built on a Ferrari chassis with a Ferrari motor!

My only problem with all of this is Matt calling "foul" when he's the first one here to do the same. Post the BB pics, be done with it. As far as proving ownership goes, have any of us every proved ownership? At least 10 people on this board have seen me in my car, but none of them ever saw the title. For all they know, it's my dads car.

lately Jim? Since the internet was invented and almost 3 years of FerrariChat.com? Nothing new, just 3,100 humans now instead of a 100. Proportionally I don't think anything has changed.

OK, I'm burnt out on this. I'm very upset and that's not good for my blood pressure. So I'm just resolving this to myself by taking it personal. I don't care anymore if Matt proves anything to the community. If he's lying, I don't care if he continues to lie to the community. I just want to know for my own personal relationship with Matt. I've always got along with Matt, even through his "cycles". You know how many times I've had to reinstall his account after he's left? I hope I can continue to have trust in Matt. I hope he moves close by in Dallas. I hope he helps me with the local FCA chapter. I hope he continues to help me with FC. All of those things are part of our past friendship, but a basic foundation is trust and I guess I should just keep that personal between Matt and I.

Tension breaker, had to be done.

Seriously, come on guys, this board is too good for this kind of stuff. Let's work it out and be done with it. Jeez, I wanna get back to talking about fuse blocks and finicky trannys again.

Have we all forgotten which medium we are dealing with here, this is the internet. A generally faceless community, this where 40 year old men pose as 12 year old girls. Does it really matter who owns what, or claims to own something I think not. For the most part this is in my own opinion the most honest board I have ever joined, sure there is some BS here but certainly less than on most boards. Has anyone lost any money in this transaction, if not who cares if the car in question was owned by the other party. I will shut the hell up now, have to move the F40 so I can wash the Enzo. :-)

Hey Matt, I don't know you or anything so I won't make any judgment on the subject, but if you need an impartial person to come look at the car I'm only about 10 minutes south of you. [shameless plug to see some nice cars ;) ]

I can't believe how dumb some people are acting over this.

Who cares about the deal gone bad? Who cares about the picture for the book?

So there's a good reason not to post the 250 pf pics. I give you that. So why not post the BB pics?

With all the Ferrari Driving Club members and dozens of people that have been to Matt's house, this could be over in one minute if someone would just validate the information. Byron? Hans? Someone? This really doesn't need to be a big deal.

Bruce, if there's a possibility that the #1 poster on FerrariChat.com was lying, then that certainly is the business of more than two people, let's try 3,100 people! Doesn't take a Babson grad to figure that out.

I haven't intended to say Matt has lied, I'm trying to be impartial, but just as we've outed liers in the past. It's very important we continue the integrity of the board.

Come on, how hard is it to prove you've owned two cars? That's ridiculous. Matt, just prove it and let's get this crap over with.

The BB has nothing to do with Wayne, so let's get that over with at least.

Why doesn't Wayne simply guarantee that he will not use them in his book?

And why doesn't Matt simply rubberstamp them (and reduce the resolution) in photoshop before posting--in a way that would make the pictures completely useless for a book?

I couldn't care less about this, but we should hold all users to the same standard that Tony Roberts was held to. I have to admit, though, it is a delicious feeling to withhold something from someone who is simply dying for it!!!!
