Speaking of grits, One redneck asked his buddy what he feeds his dog, "I feed him Grits" he replied. "Well my dog won't eat them" said the other fellow. " Mine wouldn't either for a month" was the reply.

Bought my 348ts in CA and drove it solo home to NC in 36 hours. Turned on the radio only twice and even then didn't listen - enough music from behind the seats to keep me occupied. It's got a great Sony head unit & 10-disc changer, but I still don't use it.

I'll save my CDs for my pickup.

I still like the idea of Herbs' "Pot bangin, Dog pukeing music." Ah, those melodious sounds. Just when you hit 4th gear and that tubi bellows out and at the same time the old hound pukes them grits, that is a sound to live for.

4 x 2 barrel Webers, windows open, Ansa exhaust, who needs artifical sounds (aka music).

In the 'other car' I listen to Syrinx when driving out in the country (1970's electronic music, sort of like trance style)

I was wondering if anyone was going to mention Italian rock/pop... I think Gianna Nannini would go nicely with a Ferrari. Her voice even resembles that of the engine's :-)

Come on guys! You've got to be kidding! It absolutely MUST me Pavarotti or Andre Bonacelli - as loud as your system can handle while travelling at a very high rate of speed down a country road, in the Fall mind you, watching the leaves scatter in your rearview mirror (but don't take your eyes off the road too long....), oh and did I mention...the top simply MUST be off too...

I remember when my friend (same one with the camaro) started driving his mom's 74 nova. I took a tape from my room and it happened to have paraniod on it, it might have been like being in the 70's (i wouldnt know, i wasnt born till 84)

Yeah, I like those guys too (Tribe Called Quest). I was at my gym today and they usually play some sort of musak that is supposed to motivate us 40 somethings to fight off our first heart attack. Anyway they started playing Black Sabbath - Paranoid. It reminded me of the day when I was living at home and I had it cranked up on the stereo in my room. My mom burst in screaming at me to turn it off and she never wanted to hear it played in the house again. Man, that was a great album! So now we have rap music...

I still dont like it that much, unless its a tribe called quest. thats the only good rap i know of, im sure there is more, but im to ignorant to listen to it

With music as with cars there are some masterpieces and some real junk. It is unfair to write off an entire genre because of heavily marketed crap. Rap music can have some incredible artistry, insightful lyrics, and acknowlegement of musical roots.

Listen to Bomb the Bass or Aphrodelics. (Some cool remixes on K&D Sessions). I've just been listening to a crazy remix of New Kingdom - Cheap Thrills. There is some fun stuff out there, you just have to have an open mind.

All that said, I still think Herb's comment is funny as heck, and his choices of bands is pretty good too.

I know, i hate it. Its all about how much money you have and how big your house is and how many chicks you bang. It is mindless, you are right. I love and about rebellion and such like rage against the machine, which is the closest i go to rap. Then there is agnostic front, rancid and op ivy that talk about rioting and such. Guys, trust me, try downloading some rancid, you will like it. If you want me to recoment some more good music just ask.

I dont like that song that much. It must be a 348 thing. I cant beleive you guys listen to that! You guys are old! (im kidding) Its wierd, i listen (some of it, but i also like other kinds) to the music you should be listening to and you listen to the music i should be listening too.

I had rather hear a dog puke than listen to rap. It is without question the most mindless, monotinous, talentless, and mind numbing noise ever created by sub-humans.

Thanks Bret, I'm getting to be an old fart & Rap to me was RUN DMC & ICE T. LOL, yes very lame but still attend some metal/rock shows such as PANTARA, ROLLINS BAND, Janes Addiction, LARD, Toadies (gone now), & Hank Williams III (he does some good punk covers of his grandfathers songs)

P. Diddy is what Notorious BIG (big rapper, shot in whole east coast west coast thing a couple years back) used to call Puff Daddy. Now that the name Puff Daddy is associated with making ridiculous amounts of $$$ and stupid gang shootings etc he wants to be called P.Diddy. All I can say is lol and go figure.

IMHO, Steppenwolf's "Born to be Wild" is the ultimate soundtrack to any Ferrari excursion. Regarding hardware, my Mondial Cab. came with a fine JVC system installed by the prior owner. It consists of a radio and cassette unit with removable face and remote all linked to a 12 disk CD changer in the trunk and an amp mounted behind the raditor. A sub-woofer had been mounted in the leg well in front of the passenger, leaving no room for anyone but a double amputee. It was removed the day I brought the car home. If I choose, with only the modified door speakers, I can drown-out the roar of exhaust, the whine of the overhead cams and the rush of air as I disturb its tranquility.

Since i dont drive a ferrari, it is impossible for me to tell you guys what i listen to when i drive one. But when i drive my car, it depends on what kind of road im on, what mood im in, and how fast i feel like driving. If i am really pushing the car, i usually leave the music off so i can hear how loudly the tires are crying. If i have music on when i drive fast, i listen to metallica, rage against the machine, some fastr paced punk, like a couple of rancid songs, agnostic front, and things like that and like someone said before, prodigty is also good (i dont really know alot of songs, i just burned some ones on a cd). If i;m on the highway, i like led zeppelin, allman brothers (im suprised no one said that yet), lynyrd skynyrd, steve miller, phish, pink floyd, and u2. I love it when i find a song that perfectly matches the conditions im driving in, for instance, when i was driving to visit a college i was on rt, 78 in penn. Its a open road without much traffic, stairway to heaven fit perfectly. When im just driving around, anything will do, like pearl jam or something like that, in NY you cant rely on the radio for anytthing (except classic rock, alot of stations with that.) I have to be careful what i have on, if metallica is playing i usually find myself driving fast and not even realizing it, if rancid is playing, i find myself cutting people off and driving like an @sshole.

pre 75 Rolling stones does it for me. No one likes to drive with me because I listen to the same thing day aftwe day. "Gimme Shelter" is a real Horsepower song. I always find myself breaking the 100 mph barrier on that tune.

You guys can actually hear the music as you drive your cars? Since I was 16 I have been able to install relatively good sounding systems into my, friend's, and family's automobiles and leave the car looking relatively unscathed. Now that I have bought my "dream" car, it's begging for the same treatment. For the life of me I can't figure out how to get something installed that is an improvement over what is in it (which sounds crappy). An in-dash JVC CD player and some newer Sony 5.25" 3 way speakers in the door. Any suggestion for upgrades that won't take away from the interior asthetics? In particular a spot for a subwoofer? A few years back I remember a subwoofer enclosure that mounted inside the spare tire rim and used a hose to funnel sound into the cabin. This would be perfect, but I don't know who made it. I might try making one, but acoustics are funny, small dimension changes make huge differences in the sound. It'll probably be a lot of trial and error.

Meatloaf is a good one Herbert. I also like Ozzy. He's just a madman.

My heart rate is too fast for for slower stuff while in the car :) but some real mellow blues is cool sometimes.

Just wondering what music you guys like driving to. What is good Ferrari driving music? (besides the engine)

Example:

Sammy Hagar-I can't drive 55.
Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Bass
Rush - Red Barchetta
Rollins Band (only when in angry)

etc...
you get the idea.
