Martin,it is not a BMW. It`s a Ford Escort, a very expencive car made of honeycomp monocoque, titan and alot of expencive materials. They used computers quit a lot of hours to create the racer.Turbo engine with all possible computers inside.(He is locking the door so nobody can steal his computers and then going to see how his fried is doing ) I have been racing with these guys for ten years. |

F40 - looks like the cabin was intached pretty well. I say F40 because - left hand drive, not center at all, the rear of hte car divides up in the middle to get to the engine and is split over the roof as such. |

Comment on the rotten pictures and a word to the wise... I have been lucky enough to drive in quite a few countries and without question, the single worst stretch of major highway road that I have ever encountered is the stretch between Rio and Sampa. (Bonus scariness added as I almost always made the trip in a Brazilian Fiat...lived there for 2 years.) That road barely supports 50mph much less whatever that guy was doing when he hit a)another car b)a guy on a bike c)a pedestrian d)some farm animal e) some stretch of the road that might never have been laid down. I don't have a problem with folks speeding, taxation without representation in most places anyway, but jeez folks, open it up when the conditions warrant. And this wasn't one of those... |

Yeah I noticed that guy too Jim, go figure. Jorma is it a Ferrari? I can't think of any that have those proportions other than possibly the F40 or F50, even the 360 which has the general roofline has the rear wheel much further back. |

Did anyone else notice the guy in the background with his arms folded like nothing is going on in the world around him? |

Tim don`t look at the Rotten pictures, you only feel bad for a long time. Peaces of people allaround. But if you use to take risks in traffic, take a look, it could be you. The rims in the mystery car are ordinary BBS 3 part, even the other car in the picture uses them. The left front wheel came in, in the feet area and broke his leg in to places. |

I probably wouldnt rather break my arm (again) than crash that car. Breaking it doesnt hurt, but getting 12 screws in it does. Also, its a pain in the ass to take a shower with a plastic bag over your arm to keeop the cast dry for 8 weeks. Try driving stick with one on. Can somewone tell me what that ferrari crash pic loks like, i dont want to see it myself, im eating dinner soon. |

I get F40 impression too, but the rims don't look F40, they do look CLK GTR esque but no one would seriously race a $1.3 million 1 out of 25 car. you can tell it's midengined, I say it's a 360 Challenge car. |

Looks to me like a Porsche GT1 or maybe that MB CLK GT1. |

Seems to have a hoop-style rear wing (now over the driver's head), so my vote is F-40, or less likely, a 959. |

Whatever it was I'm sure it was modified. The cabin section held up very well which is probably why your friend is alive. |

The car may not be a Ferrari, looks like some sort of touring car. Too hard to make out was it was from the photo. If all the driver got was a broken leg, that person was lucky. |

If any morbid souls would really like to see a gruesome crash (and who wouldn't right?), go to www.rotten.com and click on "Ferrari Crash"..... sweet dreams. P.S. WARNING: It is VERY graphic! |

Hey William, what kind of relationship do you and your car have? You would give up an arm? On second thought, don't tell me. |
