Exactly. Accepted that a nice rear shot of me zooming down the motorway going too fast would be worth 'some' money, but not 60 and 3 penalty points! |

Don't start me off grumbling about the amount of tax we have to pay in the UK! We also have Scamera vans (AKA Talivans) as well as fixed speed cameras. About 8,000 people are being photographed and fined for speeding daily, that's 480,000 revenue generated every single day. And the figures for deaths and serious injuries are going up not down so its obvious these measures are not improving road safety but making it worse. |

The theory about UK car tax always has been that it goes toward maintaining the roads, so there are no toll fees. HOWEVER the bastards are introducing congestion charges in main cities (London costs 5 to drive through per day) and tolls on busy motorways are starting to be introduced. So they'll be abolishing car tax. NOT. Anyway, at least we don't have themost expensive petrol in the world! 80p per litre is approx. $6 per gallon. Mainly tax. Anyway, a nice Ferrari tax disk holder will at least make me feel better about paying it! :o) |

"Tax Disk" is another name for the "Vehicle Licence" in the UK. Having paid your Vehicle Licence you display a dated paper disk in the windscreen to prove it, hence the name Tax Disk. I believe the vehicle licence was introduced as a temporary tax just the same as income tax but was never abolished. The annual Vehicle Licence costs about 160 GBP (about $256 USD) although the price varies depending on the number of grammes of CO2 emitted per kilometre by the vehicle. The more efficient the car, the cheaper the tax is. Justyn. |
