Warren.... That car at "ZR Auto" IS NOT an LM....it is a regular F-40 that hit a deer on the highway a while back and was rebuilt. |

Here is a pic of Jean Alesi doing a wheelie at the top of the hill at Lime Rock back around 1991 in an F40LM

Didn't Michelotto bore out the F40 LM GTE engine to something like 3.6 liters? Yeah, Michael Sheehan is the guy to ask for when talking about F40 LMs. He has sold/brokered both LM and the LM GTEs to customers, and I believe his site still has the pics of said cars. |

We'll have to machine them ourselves, out of unobtainium. |

I found a good article (on page 44) of CAVALLINO No.#125. It contains all the cars, F-40, F-40LM, F-40 GT, and Conversions, Chassi numbers, Build numbers, Delivery dates and to who. Also CAVALLINO Numbers #49 thru #50, 64, 78, 82, and 95 have articles. Cavallino expressed the most knowledgeable broker is as everyone said, Michael Sheehan for he keeps a active up-to-date database. |

Roland Linder, whose resurrected F40 was the subject of the Forza article, is a FChat member. He might have more info about the LM. |

ive read that the factory produced about 12 and on top of that, there were people who converted their stock F40 to an F40 LM. so they dont exactly know how many there are but they speculate around 17-18. theres a good article in Forza where a guy builds an LM from a totaled F40. they have some good backround info in that article about the LM. |

Man, that's a heck of a mark up! Is the infamy of previous owner included in that value? A friend of mine who wholesales thousands of cars a month once consuled me when I was upside down on a specialty car, "It's worth what you count in your hand, as you watch it drive away. Cut the price 'till it hurts, and get rid of it!" How about that one? Despite being a Ferrari, it's still just another used car! The F40 is a favorite of mine. The ultimate V8. Besides, they are a rocket!!! Don't ask me how I know! |

Alan Leach: Yes, this was the same car that I alluded to earlier -- new owner was asking roughly $700k via the dealership. Saw it in person (shortly after the auction), as it was being stored in the service bay -- awsome car to say the least!!

Check with Michael Sheehan. He shows one as sold on his site. It was one of 6 LM GTE's, so it may not be exactly comparable, but he would have some knowledge of market value. He's at www.ferraris-online.com . I have no affiliation. |

I thought I heard there were like 17 original LM's out there now. I read a magazine article recently about a wrecked one that got a full restoration, and I thought they said it was worth $1M+... |

Wow...they are going down. Just a year ago an F40 LM changed hands for roughly $700k at the nearby dealership. |

Last time I looked in CAVALLINO mag (#136 Aug-Sept) serial numbers 74045 to 99401 of the twenty autos made were between $365,000 to $$475,000.00 with a going down arrow. (Prices US$) |

I want to know the value of a F40 LM. And I also want to know how rare they actually are. I live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I was at a local exotic car showroom (ZR Auto Sales) and they have am LM in one of their rooms. Its not open to the public, they wouldnt even let me in to look at it, I just caught a quick glimpse as someone was leaving the room through one of the doors. In Alberta, Ferrari's are extremely rare due to shitty weather and shitty roads, so I was amazed to see an F40, let alone an LM! It definitely made my day, and Im interested to know how rare they are and how much money one would have to spend to purchase one (roughly) Thanks! Warren Balla |
