Yes, you cheap a$$ users, I guess that's how you can afford your $100k car. ;)

In less than 12 hours we have gone from 3 ads to 9 ads.

Enjoy!

Hey Rob,
Just checked out the ads for the first time and I think they're great! Nice and clean, easy to read and easy to access. "Free" is a nice touch as well!

I understand this kind of things take a long maintenance and that has to be paid but I suggest that the first 20 adds should be free.
That way we would have a start, isn't it?
By the way, I am looking for an interesting testarossa red/tan and a 355 GTS in EUROPE, to join to my collection.Anyone interested e-mail me.

Why give it away? Once you do that everyone will expect it all the time. If they can't spring for $5.00 or $8.95 they didn't want to sell it anyway. I think we are talking about Ferrari owners aren't we? Here we are splitting hairs over a few bucks to sell a car or a part. C'mon. Don't waste your time if you can't cover expenses. Also maybe no one has any merch. to sell at this time.

Go for market share now (free) until you reach a set number of ads and loyalty. Have at least two sections cars and parts. then find out competitor costs and have your cost 20% below them at all times. Buy me a beer for the advise.

Put a cap on certain items up to say $200.00 and only charge $5.00 or whatever.

First of all the site is not complicated at all. Second try to sell something in the classifieds of your newspaper and see what it costs. Also here you have people who are looking only for Ferrari parts etc. . What's $8.95? Peanuts. Rob go for it. Where else can one get that kind of advertisement for that small amount.

I don't think the site has gotten to complicated. I think it's good to see some changes from time to time to keep it fresh. Actually according to Robs last email update posting and users are up. I think $8.95 for a car is fair but agree that it should be less for smaller items.

mark

autotrader merged with another website. On the autotrader site look on the right - traderonline.com - this is where the exotics are now.

I use to love to go to Auto Trader.com but they have just moved all the exotic cars off the system. Really sucks.

Has anyone else noticed this?

A few examples of existing systems out there:

Miata.net has a deal where I believe its 50 bucks for three months to sell your car, maybe less, and then if the car isn't sold you can keep it up there for free if you reduce the price of the car. You get the basic jist.

S2ki.com will allow classifieds to be posted by anyone, but if its commercial and more than just one item (say, multiple exhausts of the same brand - obviously connected to some commercial entity) then they will be required to become a sponsor if they want to post to the site.

Those two systems work for those sites. Or a small percentage, say .5% of the sale goes to the site if its sold off the site. But the honor system would be difficult to maintain on this.

A different type of classified ad system would be great, and if you need any suggestions or any help, let me know. I just have to agree that the current system is a bit too difficult to visualize for quick glances at the market out there.

Rob:
Nobody 's posting any more. Far too complicated too as it has too many sections.

Rob,

I'm a DIY'er, so I'm with Steve on this one.

Maybe, items wanted or for sale, less than 1-2k, from FerrariChat members, should be free. This could build membership and stimulate the recycling of parts. Bill

Rob -- IMHO $8.95 for a car is A-OK, but what about us DIYers who like to exchange smaller pieces of junk?

I think a prudent strategy would be to have it free of charge until you build up a substantial database. People will not pay for a service which is not fully built up, and provides 'everything' they want. When the general Ferrari enthusiast population sees a serious contender to FML, you would be in the perfect position to institute a monthly/yearly based fee.

What is everyone's opinion on FerrariAds.com?

You can offer advice on the design, but I'm not as worried about that this early on. I just want to do everything I can to get people using it more and more.

Is $8.95 a month too high? Compared to FML, feature to post pics, and considering the amount of exposure you'll get, I thought it was a fair rate.

What does everyone think a fair monthly rate would be? $8.95? $6.95? $4.95? $2.95? Free?

Thanks,
Rob

Check out the beautiful Testarossa that's been posted for sale.

Also, within two days of posting my wanted ad for Cavallino magazines, I've made a mutually beneficial deal for quite a few of the older Cavallino and Prancing Horse magazines. More details after the deal is complete.

Keep the ads or suggestions coming. We're currently only 60 mb from reaching our allotted space and last month we were actually 1 gb over our allotted traffic. It's easy to add, but just costs a few extra pennies.

Thanks everyone for your participation in our online Ferrari community.
