Yeah, college students think they know everything . (thats a quote from my global techer in 10th grade, tommy baffutto, a good guy, used it in explaining the red square thing in china i think)

Sometimes I say to myself -gosh you're 67 yrs old and 1/2 your life is over already!

You never know when you were "middle aged" until after you die. Then your survivors can divide how old you were at death in half to determine when you were middle aged.

I like to think Martin W. is middle aged...

Am I middle-aged then, at 28?

Yeah, Kenny, it sucks to be old like me at 37. Although my six 25 year old girlfriends keep my warm at my nursing home :) I suppose they r kind of ancient too LOL

Oh Kenny, so young, so much to learn. Like Jim said, more Ferraris not new Ferraris.

I guess I will keep my Impala SS. Corvette engine and the bucket seats fit my aging bucket.

Kenny, only two flaws in your logic. First, 30 isn't old. You'll realize this when you're 30. Second, I changed my goal to MORE Ferraris when I got my first one. I don't want to trade up, I want to buy additional cars! :-)

Right now, I am 16, so whenI get older (old for me is 30 ) I hope to be getting my first Ferrari... I am sure the cars will change, but as of this moment- I hope to:

First: Get a 348 Spyder
Second: Get rid of it to get a 355 spyder
Third: F60

I think Viagra is natures way of telling u its time to do something else. Maybe I'll become a Buddhist Monk when that happens & go live in Bhutan :) In which case I'll need a Hummer to get around in

Martin,

By the time William is 70, he may have completed the deal for the new Viagra car sponsorship and won't have that problem....

William,
as a self proclaimed "international playboy" you will be 70+ and still chase 20 year olds, which will keep you fit and healthy. Trying to satisfy them in bed at 70+ proves a challenge but I have full confidence you will manage.

...what I am trying to say is, getting in and out of your car will be your least problem!

I suppose I'll want something a bit easier to get in & out of At 37 I've already got a few stiff places & bones that snap, crackle, & pop :)

But on the track I want to be like Benny Caiola, who is 75 & still drives his F40LM & 333SP like a Demon, Go Benny!!!!

My leadfoot father-in-law is 88 and loves my 328. I hope I'm as active as he is at that age. I'm not sure I'm ready to let him or anyone drive it yet... I'm 51 and see Ferraris in my future for a LONG time. I'm with Martin - I'll be driving mine to the nursing home too.

William,
I'm 52 and just bought a 1985 308 GTS QV. I've always wanted a Ferrari and finally got one, but the focus of this message is not about me it's about a friend that I met over 10 years ago who inspired me to keep my dream alive. He owned 6 Ferraris (2-275GTB's, a 275GTB/4, a 365GTB/4 Daytona, and a 512BB). He bought his first 275GTB when he was 65. His last car was purchase new in 1985 -- it was a Lambo Countach(he was 85). He drove it until he was 94. He pasted away at 95, I think not being able to drive the car killed him. Don't think about what to drive when you get OLD. OLD is as much a state of mind as it is physical. Think about all the great new cars that will be avaiable over the next 20+ years.

I didnt hear it run, so i dont know if it was turbo'd, but he didnt mention anything, but he definatley said it had the marine engine with 550hp. you should take ur 512 and park it next to his countach, or better yet, across from it. Two exotic cars that were direct competitors parked next to each other would be a sight to see.
William H (Countachxx)
Posted on Tuesday, October 30, 2001 - 6:53 pm:

Tim Ive heard of a guy who goes to Marcus Dairy who has a twin turbo Countach. The marine engine is a monster, it would never fit.

I suppose Martin is correct, I want to b like Benny Caiola who is 75 & drives his F40LM & 333SP like a Madman :) Go Benny!!!!!

I don't think age is really a factor on what to drive as long as your are healthy. Family needs, however, will dictate what you can drive. Having said that, there's no way I'll ever get a minivan.
Tim N (Timn88)
Posted on Tuesday, October 30, 2001 - 5:45 pm:

Oh, william, do you know a guy named nick that has a red 89 lambo special edition or something. The plate is "89LAMBO". It has a larger cubic inch marine engine or something. Its really clean, he takes it to Marcus dairy on sat nights in the spring and summer. I thought since you live in ct you might know about that car. Is there anything else special about it? how much HP does it have?
Tim N (Timn88)
Posted on Tuesday, October 30, 2001 - 5:28 pm:

I'd go with either the 550 or the CL55 AMG (why not the CL600?) CL's are hot, they are so comfortable, but they arent sports cars. They are too heavy to handle well. I know they are fast with the 5.5L AMG engine or the 6.0L v12. A 740i sport would be a good idea, or even a mid 90's 850ci.

Yes Martin!!! That's what I like to hear.
Yeah the TR (or 512TR I assume) sounds so good with that Borla exhaust like Billy's. I'm addicted. Driving the 12 is harder than the 8, but when you're done it leaves you begging for more. The 355 is the first Ferrari I remember coming out so I became attached to it, but the 12s have got a hand up on it. Alright, forget the 355 I gotta go with the 12. I already started working on the old man, I figure I'll let him drive it sometimes if he gets one. Come on that sounds like a reasonable idea to me. Any ideas how to get him into a mid-life crisis where he wants to be a 512TR?

I'm now 44 and drive a BMW M5 and a Ferrari 348 Spider. When I get old I may opt for the 456. It is a beautiful car that I wouldn't mind having now.

What's this big issue of age? I'm 67 and a 360 and an e46 M3 are just right for now. When I'm 70 the 380?? should be out and I'll be ready.Planning to drive a Ferrari to the nursing home.

Rob at 60...

The new Challenge model for racing.

The new 12 cylinder for the street.

A classic even for today's standards... 275 GTB/4.

Bret - you are pretty bold to mention any Ferrari other than the 512TR on a thread started by William and you know what he's going ask you -- "Why buy a V8 when you can have a big powerful 12?" :)
BretM (Bretm)
Posted on Tuesday, October 30, 2001 - 4:20 pm:

Yeah I'm never selling the 308, already planning on my next goal, either 355 or 512TR when I get out of college.

You only become old when you stop acting young.

Hey Bret: You can be our official study. Keep a ferrari in your stable and we will follow you for the next 42 years and I bet you'll still be cool at 60 with your Ferrari. If I am wrong I will give you one of mine to cheer you up. :)

I'll be 60 in my Ferrari and don't see any issue with it. Ferrari is about spirit, life enjoyment and many other intangible issues -- those do not dissapear at 60, 70 or 80. Bret you need to come to Palm Beach -- there are a lot of 60 year old racing on the Moroso track and they look very happy and very comfortable as they should be and they probably get a lot more p*+$# than a 18 year-old to boot. Sounds like a good life to me.

But to answer the question -- I like the AM Vanquish but since I have the chaufeured driver thing going now already I think I'll keep both. Chauffeur around town and jump in the sports car when want to have fun.

William you're 37!!!! Don't think about these things yet. Wait, I'll be 60 in 42 years, it's time that I start thinking ahead to which Ferrari I'll be getting...? Just keep racing the 512 around.

I think a 60 year old in any Ferrari is damn cool. The 550 in particular is classy, the 360 helps you to remember your wild side though. The 456 is boring.
My mom works for MB, the CLK55 is alright, but not anything inspiring like a Ferrari. Bentley's and Rolls always seemed boring to me too, and they don't seem to hold their value very well.

Will there even be Ferraris when you're 60?

Your as old as you feel. Age must not be a factor unless over 80 & driving with handicapped plates. That is only thing that scares me. Just don't drive with the left turn signal on all the time while cruising in the far left lane. Maybe by then you have a chauffeured driven limo.
William H (Countachxx)

I'm 37 now but I cant see myself getting in & out of my Countach as 60+ Suppose I'll want something fast & stylish but less radical.

Maybe a 550 Maranello, MB CL55AMG, AM Vanquish, Bentley Continental R.

ANybody else thought about this ?
