i think someone said you could tell because the back looked like a 348. And as for the wheelie, that was bullsh*t. No car could do one for a full 1/4th mile as someone said. There is no way you could lift the fronts that much on the street. Also, if the wheels were spinning (u see all that "tire smoke")you wuoldnt be able to get traction, and wouldnt be able to pop the front up. You need a vht prepped track to do that. Also, if it was real the torque would have lifted the left side higher. look a little closer and you can see hydraulics pushing the front up too.

Still like the Bullit chase. Also bought the 1974 Gone in 60 Seconds. My wife and I just couldn't stop laughing at the seventies clothes / fashions of the time. My 14yo daughter asked if we ever actually wore that sort of stuff. Yep, we sure did, LOL!!

Better chase/race scenes in of couse, by default, Bullit and a little known cult classic tittled "Vanishing Point" the original, not the remake from 1996 with Viggo Mortenson (?sp?) that showed on FOX.

Yes, I noticed that too on the DVD, $255,000 for a spyder? Maybe an AUTO TOYSTORE special. Thats one thing I can't stand about car films, writers get the info wrong.

P.S.
If you get a chance, get the original 1976 GONE IN 60 SECONDS. This DVD rules!

I need the Gumball Rally on DVD! Does anyone know where to find it?

I didn't know that the 355 in the movie was a replica. How did you notice?

I did think it was entertaining. I didn't believe any of the stats they said about the cars, I just watched it for entertainment. A friend of mine is really into the Japanese cars and he had a magazine that tested those cars from the movie and I believe, if I remember correctly, the fastest one was either the Supra or that red RX-7 and it only ran in the 12's. The other cars were in the 13'-high 14's. Also if you watch the deleted scenes part on the DVD they show the Ferrari race. They did have this part a little longer and when the guy in the Ferrari was asked what the retail was, he replied $255,000. WOW, where did he buy his 355 Spyder at? Anyway I have always looked at it this way, you can build anything to beat the next guy, even a Japanese car against a Ferrari but at the end of the race the guy you just beat is, win or lose, going home in a FERRARI.

I didnt think it was so bad if u take it with a grain of salt :) It was better than Stallone's DRIVEN anyways, what a POS that was

As for the wheely in the movie. There is truth to that. I have seen it done all the way down a 1/4 mile. What they do is place the engine as far back as possible and move move the differential closer. That was with the one that went the distance of the 1/4. You can lift the wheels hence wheely bars

The best part about this movie.

The "bad-boy" actor Star, well he is from New York city. Born and rasied there.

Ready for this? When he got the part in the movie he didn't know how to drive a car. Never drove, never had a car... like most NY city folks.
Pretty sad. As an actor he seemed like a nice guy, I saw him giving an interview.

Sounds like I should be glad I missed this one.

What was dumb is that they had the F355 doing anything other than getting blown out by a few bus lengths by a 10 second Supra. Stock for stock the cars are pretty close in performance. But there is no way a stock F355 would ever be a good race for a 10 second car. Cheesy flick.

I didn't see the movie , but saw the preview when he floors it and "pops the front end of the car up". Where can I begin in ripping this ? ?#$%@#$%
Engineer boys - let me know if there is any reality to this.....?

It wasnt a F355, it was a fiero that was a shitty replica of a F355. This discussion already came up and someone said if that was a 10 sec supra than the F355 did pretty well. That movie did suck. How was that guy typing on his computer while driving? And that quarter mile race between him and Vin deisel was like 5 minutes long.

That movie was gay.
It's funny how they had to have tricked out japenese cars in order to keep up with a tractor trailor doing 60 mph.

If u watch that scene again, check it out when they park the Supra at the restaurant & the 355 goes by behind them on the highway, except, it turned into a Jag XK8 LOL

Just one reason for car guys to point fingers "us" versus "them" syndrome

I agree. I thought it was upsetting that they made the 355 owner seem arrogant. Just another way to give a stigma to Ferrari owners. A glorified commerical.

You have bought a commercial movie. That film was ordered and financed by some kind of American trading organisation for manufacturers/importers of Japanese cars or something. Its just a commercial movie for Japanese cars and they made people pay taxed money to watch it.

I have also paid for it. Ok for a commercial...

Ciao

I just got Fast & the Furious on DVD & I'm highly disappointed. What a lame race with the 355 & Supera! I was hoping with all the hype of this movie that the scene would be more intense. I glad that I used my BEST BUY GIFT CARD to buy it & not waste my own money. Did anyone else see it?
