I think those pics were taken from Universal Studios.

It appears to have a Euro front spoiler too which was never used on the Magnum P.I. series. They always used US version 308s.

They probably removed the mirrors and the badges so people won't steal them. Either that or they're already stolen. Also noticed that the tail is riding a bit high. They probably removed the engine also.

No side mirror or logo caps. It must be a replica.

What is it? It has a Euro bonnet connection. Is that a replica? It doesn't have any markings on it either.

It would be more "authentic" if that car had ROBIN1 on the license plate.

I found it on the net a year or so ago and it didn't look very nice. It was in the rear parking lot if I remember correctly.

I've seen a pic of that before, I thought I had the site in my favorites but apparently not. It seems to be somewhat of a dreary Ferrari at this point, a little aged from sun, etc.

Allegedly the actual Magnum 308 is at the Universal Studios park in Burbank. It's outside where you can see it, etc.

He did buy them Porsches like Richelson said, before filming started he promised (this being his last shot at TV) that if it was successful he would do so. The one 308 was bought by Larry Manetti as has been said, I think the others were all sold off.
Danny in the episode where Mac dies because the Ferrari has a bomb apparently rigged to the ignition the car was switched (thanks goodness) for a more economical minded choice for filming when it's on fire. It looks like a Buick with the roof cut off to make it look like a targa top.
Magnum, p.i is great, I think it's my favorite show. I never got hooked on Miami Vice, I guess not enough Ferrari in it.

It was on the True Hollywood Story but it was 928s.

As I understand it (I think I read it on some website or in a book), I real life, Tom Selleck bought 308s for both Rick, TC, and Higgins. I wonder what has happened to those cars as well?

I'm watching Magnum PI as a I write this!

The original Mangum car (1979 308GTS) is in San Diego. I have driven the car many times and considered purchasing it about 6 months ago. The current owner wanted $40,000 for it and it was in average condition with 80k+ miles. He has the Hawaii license plate that reads MAG PI and a California plate that reads MAG PI1.

I think the car is still for sale if anyone is interested?

I was watching part of a Magnum episode where the Ferrari was blown up with one of his Vietman buddies in it. The buddy started the Ferrari.

It was on last week.

There was also a green QV in the episode where Robin's nephew impersonated magnum on a case. I have never seen a 328 on the show. There is some website I've seen on some FCA site in the midwest that has a FAQ section giving all of the details on the Magnum Ferraris, including SN.

That episode was on like two weeks ago. Higgins takes it away because Magnum leaves the Ferrari parked on his prize winning flower bed, I guess that was the last straw. They had a really good episode on like a week ago with this girl that got hurt pretty bad and and was apparently working for some gangsters. Magnum was taking care of her because he cause the accident that she was in. (just to give a little plot description) The good part was that they had the 308 sliding sideways through like half of the show, cool to see. They always had two 308s at a time for filming, one for closeups and another "beater" for the chase scenes. Greg hit all the cars they had in total. 11am and 5pm on A&E everyday.

Mitchel, I think the episode was when Higgins finally upset Magnum bad enough for Magnum to stop driving the Ferrari(Higgins always tries to get it away from him) and buy his own car. It was funny because T.C. tried to fix it but it didn't keep running very long and then it was on the tow truck.

I was just watching an episode last night. Greg, you are correct about the 308s used. I have not seen a 328 on any episode. Do you guys remember when something happened to the 308 and he had to drive the Jaguar XKE that was really smokey? I cannot remember why Magnum was driving the Jaguar at the time? Anyone? Anyone?

When I was a kid growing up in Hawaii, I used to catch some of the filming when I was out with my parents. That was the first time I saw a Ferrari in real life. I remember going to the toy store later on that day looking for a Ferrari Hot Wheels car. Ahhh to be a kid again.

Peter, There was a thread on that sometime ago. It told who had them and where the orig car was being shown. Pics and all. I checked Keyword search and I could not find it. Maybe you can or maybe someone remembers it.

Peter, I actually went to look at one of the 308s that was used in Magnum P.I. It was the 81' GTSi. It wasn't in very good shape and the owner was asking quite a bit for it. It did come with a Plaque and Certificate signed by Larry Manetti. Would have been interesting to have but for the price he was asking you could have purchased 2 308s.

I love watching the old episodes. It was a great show besides the use of a Ferrari in it. I wish there was a new Magnum P.I.-type of show on TV now, there's nothing good on anymore.

I have a question: what happened to all of these Ferraris that they used? Who owns them now?

I know that they had numerous 308s but I never saw a 328 in the series. They had a (2) 79 308 GTS, 81 308 GTSi, 83 308 QV, 85 308 QV, and they also used a brown 308 QV in an episode. They did use quite a few. I love to watch Magnum P.I. I record all of the episodes so, I can later watch them. I love the 308s too.

I have my ReplayTV set to record episods of Magnum PI. I have noticed at least four different 308s used as well as a 328 . You can really tell if you pay attention to the front louvers(some black some red), the bumpers and spoilers. In one later episod the car was a 328 as it had the 328 front end and center console. I wonder how many cars they went through in the almost decade run of the show ?
