On the Optima battery subject, I was going thru Costco's Eveready batteries one per 9 months. The Optima I replaced it with is now over 5 years old and even after severe discharges is still awesome. The best bet for an optima is to get it from your Interstate battery dealer... They offer a lifetime style warranty(it is better than optima's warranty) for the same price. |

They actually just came out with one, it's an orange top (Optima has Red, Yellow, Blue, Pink and now Orange). The Orange is a red with reverse(d) terminals. They are the best bang for the buck in batteries. |

Optima batteries are the top of the line. If they make one for the Ferrari then they are the best you can buy. I was on rescue for quite a few years and that is all we used in the trucks (with all those strobes it puts a really big strain on the battery). |

I have a 97 550 Maranello. I store it in the winter but manage to drive it about once per month. Even though I have atrickle charger the battery still goes dead. The battery is a Megatron MP 34R. Any suggestions for a stronger battery. Anybody ever use an OPTIMA battery |

hey William, maybe you should go speak w/carlos reutemann about licensing one of your ferrari's. he can't have anything better to do in addition to fixing a country. might give him a feeling of accomplishing something for a day. you know; good U.S. relations and all that. |

i drive my car every dry day which several times a week lately. lucky it was dry the day of our 6.2 quake. had it been in the garaged it would have had 10 huge, windows smashed over the top of it. the poor little 67 sprite; next to me. |

Fred: The 308 is still very strong - other than normal wear and routine service, I've had no problems with the car. I did have to replace 1st and 2nd gears at about 60K, but that was my fault. I was out for a 'country' drive, and the clutch cable broke. Unwilling to abandon the car in the sticks, and being without a cell phone, I elected to clutchless-shift back home. Forty miles and several broken gear teeth later, we were snugly parked in the garage... |

My '81 308 has 118,000 miles My '84 512BBi has 53,000 miles My '98 355 has 39,000 miles (my '84 Audi Coupe has 244,000) All had under 10,000 miles when I purchased them. Art is for hanging on the wall --- cars are for driving... |

100-200 miles a year... criminal... Once every other month to work <2mi or on a hot date, pretty rare also I have suffered several failures on my 81 308GTBi due to lack of use, i.e. dry rotting tires (Even in the garage), seized water pump, X Batteries, a few explosions from dry rotted water hoses followed by an impressive cloud of water vapor (very embarrassing). Leaking Freon <1lb every 2 years. I live in Florida, and it is always nice, and my AC works as good as ever (Comfortable). I have no excuse, except my Turbo Porsche is quite fun to drive also... |

I drive my 355 spider on every sunny weekend that I have time to. Unfortunately, that only adds up to about 3000 miles a year. The problem is you can not park it anywhere while you run in to the store. The last two special cars I have owned, both were deliberately damaged in the parking lot. Both were parked out away in their own space.(no I didn't take two spots) The have nots always like leaving their mark on the haves property. I can never understand this. I have been a have not and would NEVER even consider damaging someones personal property. |

I'm on pace for about 3k miles a year. I drive it to work one day a week and then I do longer drives on the weekend. |

Dave , i shipped my 450hp 92 Mitsu 3000GTVR4 down here last Feb. I thought it was a perfect car for argentina. AWD, fast, stylish, not expensive, reliable, not too exotic. It ran great on the highways outside BA. On several occasions I would go out there & cruise at 140 with no radar detector on & not even looking for cops cus there r none outside BA. But the beauracracy & dirty motorcycle cops who have to be paid off all the time convinced me to send it back last week. I tried to register it down here but I had to jump to 1001 hoops which got pretty old in a hurry. Now I just have my 68 Ford Falcon race car down here. Not sophisticated or pretty but fun. another problem down here is the crime rate is going up, muggings r common, & my car also told every1 who had the $. Not something u want where the avg person makes around $7500 anually SO when i want to play with the prancing horses I just jump on a 757 & fly north |

I'm sad to say that I've only drove my 328 about 500 miles in the last 3 months. It seems that with working 11 hours a day and little daylite during the winter, I reserve my car time to the weekends on nice days. But when I do take it out, it sure makes up for all the hard work during the week!! |

I bought my 93 512TR at Shelton in Ft Lauderdale Jan 2000, in May I drove her up to CT. when I am in the states I try to drive either the 308, 512TR, or Lambo every sunny day. When I'm at my house in Buenos Aires, where I live most of the time, I have a trusted friend excercise my cars for me once a week or so. I usually drive 1 of the cars to & from the track, the Glen, Lime Rock, Pocono, Summit Point & have my mechanic follow me in the rig with 1 or 2 more toys in the trailer, for when we get there |

I've had my 348 since August and have put on about 4k miles. Thats without driving it too much this winter and being overseas for about a month this fall. I can't wait for spring so I can enjoy the targa being off. Happy Motoring!! |

Ernesto, you think thats bad, when the previous owner had my car, he only drove it 2000 miles in TEN years! It is why my car is apart in my garage now with an ongoing engine rebuild. When I bought it though, it ran okay. From July 2000 when I got it until December 2000 I drove it 2200 miles. I expect to get more than 5000+ miles this year when I get it back on the road. When I did have it on the road last year, I drove it whenever I could. All the weekends and some times after I got home from work. |

I drive my 360M every day that I possibly can, which usually means about three or four days a week. I have had it six months now, and it has about 3,500 miles, so I should have around 7,000 to 8,000 miles in the first year. And I dont see myself holding back on the driving unless it breaks or I get another one. How can some people have these cars and only drive them 1,500 miles a year? Drives me crazy... |

I have a '85 308GTSqv, when the weather permits I drive it everyday (I live in northern New Jersey). In the winter I haven't driven it since December because even when the sun is out there is still salt on the roads and I don't want to get it all disgusting (I take it out in the driveway and run it every week, and actually one day I took it around town for a few minutes when the roads were nice). I drove it from october (when I got it) to december and I put like 3000 miles on it. It was when I first got it though so I was all about driving it constantly and my Jeep was getting the engine rebuilt (it had 225,000 miles on it so it was due I guess). I think I will put less than ten thousand a year on it. It's meant to be driven in my opinion. |

I'm curious how often you guys drive your cars? I would drive mine to work but I only work about 2 miles from home. There is really no point to drive it so short just to sit outside all day. Anytime I am going somewhere farther and the sun is shining I take it. I am thinking I will put about 4 or 5000 miles on it a year. |
