The Sultan of Brunei is also by far the richest man in the world. He's so dirty. He is always trying to bribe famous women to sleep with him, offering them millions of dollars. What a dirtbag. He's my idol. |

The dude is the Sultan of Brunei, last I heard he had a thousand cars...no joke. His F40 was white. He also had several 456's made into 4 door station wagons...again no joke. One is for sale in London, contact [email protected], or see "Classic & Sports Car" Vol. 19, No. 12, March 2001, pg .62. |

Pardon, I wrote green, I meant grey. I have a pic of a green one however. |

IIRC, stock F40's were available in Rosso Corsa (Ferrari Racing Red) and Rosso Barchetta (a darker more burgundy red), there may have been a special in yellow or black, but it wasn't a normal color. I may have pics of both colors. The F50 (from what I hear) was available in 5 colors, the 2 above, as well as black, yellow, and green. Those I know I have pics of somewhere. -Ben |

He totaled it, there was nothing left. I don't know how fast he was going, but fast enough to make it look more like a VM Golf than a Ferrari, and then it catching on fire didn't help either. Poor little car. On the topic of burning Ferraris, I remember when one with a magnesium engine block caught on fire and the Fire Department couldn't put it out. Which model might this have been? Who are these special buyers? Whenever they make a limited car they often go to the frequent buyers. What do you do with all these Ferraris? How do you drive them all, or do you just let them rot and have people come in and see how many exotics you can afford? I think that if I had more than one sports car I would get so confused, although if I lived in a all the time warm climate I guess it could be neat having several sports cars with different personalities. I feel hassled having to drive the Jeep and the Ferrari and not letting one sit for awhile. |

From what I've been told, the factory made one yellow one and the rest red. The yellow one supposedly went to a very special customer. I've seen one black one that was painted... Ernesto |

I think there are more than 200 u.s spec f-40's, but not much more. The majority are 1990's, since it was the first year made for the u.s. Also in europe they were first made in 1989 and not 1987. The differences between 90-92 are fit and finish, and there is a noticable difference. |

Thanks for the heads-up on the FNA site. Just flipped through an old R&T article in which they claimed only 200 U.S.-bound F40's. Out of 1311 total that seems a little slim. Although if one considers that they were built from '87-'92 yet were only imported state-side from '90-'92, maybe this figure is accurate. |

One of my friends crashed his (I know 3 people all with red ones, do they make any other colors?), so whatever number were made, you can subtract at least one. Don't worry he has an F50 now, which he has seriously probably driven for 3 hours in the last 6 years. Did you check Ferrari North America (www.ferrarina.com)? And in one of the topics recently, I think it was that one about favorite 80s Ferraris there was a site posted that is solely about the F40. |

Just curious if anyone knows how many F40's were U.S. cars and what, if any, model changes took place between '90-'92. Thanks. |
