Congrats, hope you can make it to Sebring this August. I will be there if my baby is ready by then. William will be in Lime Rock. If you can not come to Sebring come to Homestead Miami Speedway in october. I hope William is coming down to Miami by then.

I have never seen a 512TR in that color, and I LOVE it. I also see you are sporting a Tubi, how about that sound?? It is a remarkable sound for sure. I'd like to know more about that color, anyone seen one like this?? The most unusual color I have seen on a 512TR, besides this one, is that light metallic blue called Hyperion Blue? SP, you have one heck of a car there!! Welcome to Ferrarichat! |

I think I was looking at this car while it was at Steve Harris. Don't remember the 355 wheels on it tho, maybe just my bad memory. Great car in a great color! -Ben |

Thanks Guys You all have really made me feel welcome to your community. Wow, great responses to my questions. I'm impressed with the quick messages. Ferrarijoe: Thanks for all your tips and expertise. I will check the area around the horns tommorow. You really have great advice. I must say that your '87 Euro-spec TR is absolutely stunning. Love the "flying mirrors". I hope to get my hands on an early Testarossa in a few years. Robert McNair: Thanks for the info...I think I will just change and maybe relocate the my fuel hoses. It's just too risky to keep them stock. Christian: Thanks for the clarification on "PRUGNA"...has anyone seen another "ROSSA METALLIZZATO" out there...if so, please let me know and send pics. William H: Your a lucky man.."2" 512TR's...Heaven on Earth... Mr Doody: I'm with you...I too don't know jack about the 512TR.. David: Thanks for the invite...don't know if I can get out of work... Micheal N: Thanks for the reassurance....please post pics of your F-car...would love to see it.. Bruce Wellington: Thanks...Sorry for the scrolling..it's my first time posting...the pictures caused it... Tyler: Thank You James Dixon: Yes, that is my "black" Supra in the background...I drive that car 60 miles to work everyday...It also was my college car, before I was able to afford a FERRARI...I just love that Supra and it has been such a workhorse...the yellow mr2 spyder is a fun drive but has no power...

I think that color is lovely and unique!! I have seen it before and I have come to love the TRs in these slightly darker shades. I have a red 90TR and the original paint was fine, but had lots of chips on the front and deep lines developed in the original paint etc. Instead of just fixing each piece, I got the car repainted. Instead of the super bright standard ferrari Rossa Corsa color, the paint turned out to be a deeper red than the standard Rossa Corsa that the car originaly had. Personally, I think it gives the car a more subtle look -- not the overly racy look like it was before. I like the more subtle look and one thing I did notice is that people do not notice the car as much, which I like in a way in that it does not stick out as much. I think it will age better with the car. I had it at Cavallino this year and got several compliments when sitting next to other standard red TRs -- hey I now find my car among all the others there for a change. I will take pictures and post later. Personally, I like your deeper color even better. I guess mine is a slightly different situation than yours in that I repainted the car and have the records to show what I did, but I won't worry about it if the paint is good. Enjoy the car -- if the engine is humming nicely, paint is easy to fix and change if you want. Do not make the mistake about putting too much into originality. Most of these cars are not original anymore, they have been fixed/changed in one way or the other if they have any miles on them. Only the show cars put on new parts that are true to the original design. As for the stickers they are obviously add-ons, but hey many cars have them. As far as the hood out of alignment that can easily happen if people do not slowly close the hood easily. I wouldn't panic just yet it could be just bent latches on the hood. Welcome to the F-club and do not hesitate to ask any questions. |

S.P., First of all, if you want peace of mind, go ahead and order new or the newer fuel lines and replace them. Talk to George Evans, if anybody knows about a TR, he does. http://www.evansauto.com/ As far as the suspected front-end damage. Open the front deck lid and look down in between the front edge of the deck and the bumper where the horns are. You might be able to see over-spray if it has been repainted. Look underneath at the chassis panel covers. They are at the front of the car below and behind the valance. They are made of aluminum and would have either been bent then straightened out or replaced. You can jack up the front of the car and remove them for a better inspection of behind the front bumper area. Lastly, while the car is jacked up, remove the wheels and inspect the wheel wells and suspension bits. May be you can tell if there are new parts there. I hope you will not find any problems and if you want to re-align the deck lid, it should not be too hard to do yourself. Good luck, Joe

S.P. I spoke with a prof. English/Italian car mechanic and I asked him if he had experience working with Ferrari's and he said yes and the first thing he suggested doing when you purchase a used F-car is to change the fuel lines as they crack and cause fires I believe it is due to the location. I have noticed similar potentally dangerous designs on other cars as well such as carbs right over exhaust manifolds etc. |

Hi I am NEW to the FERRARI WORLD....I bought my "first" FERRARI about 6 months ago, a 1994 512TR. I was just introduced to this site by "ferrarijoe" and I have been absolutely enjoying it. In my pursuit for more info on the FERRARI 512TR, I came across a RECALL Listing at: http://www.consumerreports.org/main/detailv2.jsp?CONTENT<>cnt_id=14127&FOLDER<>folder_id=10895 "Fuel Hose Leaks and Engine Fires", is this something to be concerned about and will FERRARI still replace these defective fuel hose. How would I know if I have the defective fuel hoses on my car??? I don't want my 512TR or any other FERRARI burning to a crisp. I've attached some pictures of my 512TR below. My 512TR was originally sold at FERRARI of Beverly Hills...then it went to Illinois...at some point in time it ended up at Steve Harris in Utah (as pointed out by "ferrarijoe" in an email) and now it's in Florida. The color is "ROSSA METALLIZZATO", was this ever an "original" color for FERRARI???? "ferrarijoe" stated the color is Prugna...It does look like Prugna, but there is a paint sticker in the front trunk compartment stating "ROSSA METALLIZZATO Fer 311/c"...was this FERRARI repainted with some made up color name??...and where are paint stickers usually found on FERRARIs......The reason I ask is that I suspect some kind of prior damage to this car......It ran a CLEAN CAR FAX when I bought it and no accidents were mentioned......but I seem to suspect foul play with this car....does anyone out there recognize this 512TR at past events or past ownerships....it's hard to forget this car with it's strange color......I just hope my "first" FERRARI doesn't end up to be a "bad" FERRARI......I just think something happenend to the front of the car, because the front hood is out of alignment, but I can't find any other signs.......If anyone has any info on this car, please let me know or where I can find more info. As you can see in the pictures, I am also missing the REAR LOWER VALENCE HORIZONTAL GRILL.....where can I find a replacement???? Thanks for such a great website....and sorry for asking so many questions, but I am still learning.
