Follow up.... The front fog lights are removed by: 1. First remove two screws holding the upper lens (parking lights & directionals) 2. This exposes four screws near the upper portion of the assembly. Remove the upper left and upper right screws. (The screws directly underneath these two are for adjusting the aim of the fog lights) 3. Snap the "ball & socket joint" apart at the lower inside (You can just see this connection when you look between your grill, next to the light assy. The "ball" will snap out (hard) from the "socket" mounted on the support on the car). 4. With the complete assembly loose, you can disconnect the plugs and repair/replace parts as required. Note: On mine, the subassembly that holds the fog light bulb was loose in the main housing. The sub assembly had seperated from the main housing. This subassembly was held to the inside of the main housing by three more of the ball & socket joints and had become "unsnapped". They were easily snapped back into place with the part removed from the car. The ball and socket joints are necessary to allow the sub assembly to move inside the main housing so that they can be aimed correctly. There are actually three adjustment screws involved in aiming the fog lights - the two in the front and one in the rear. When you put the main housing back on the car, be sure you snap the housing ball & socket joint together first, before you put the upper screws back in! |

If you're concerned about little bits rattling in these units, all the more reason to get in there and make things right. You sure you wouldn't want to make them work? If you can locate the wires in the loom and if the switch is in the console, you could get them to work. Fog lights are very useful, I went beyond that and installed aircraft lights in my daily driver. When I worked permanent night-shift a few years back, my route led through dark country roads with no street lights. One night, bad rain flooded the road and I almost got stuck (couldn't see anything). No more after that, now I see for miles down the road! They could fit in the Ferrari's headlight buckets too, in place of the high-beams (hmmm...). |

Thanks Peter, I have the parts catalog and your right, there seems to be something in the way. I was trying to avoid doing a major disassembly, hoping someone had done this before and had the easy way... I wasn't looking forward to removing the headlight assembly or possibly going in from underneath. I'm more concerned about what is rattling around inside than I am about actually using them. |

Still can't remove the fog lights? I looked up your earlier posting here under "328GTS pics". I have found, working on my GT4, the parts catalogue indispensible to figuring out how the parts are put together. Reality though is sometimes there's something else in the way that is not shown. Over this Christmas weekend I drained the coolant out of my car. There are the petcocks on the rad and the block, but these only drain 10 of the 18 litres of coolant. The rest had to come out just by undoing the hose connections. To gain access to the rad petcock I had to remove the whole lower nose-section and both front access panels in the wheel wells! This may be in store for you if you're going to access the lights. Jack your car up and find an access panel. Take it off and see what's up there. This is my only advice for your procedure. Good luck! |

I would like to remove my front fog lights to work on them. (They are the ones beneath the directionals in front). The lens doesn't remove from the front like the upper lights. They seem to be secured from the back with screws. The screws are located in an impossible location down below the retractable headlight assemblies and in the corner. Has anyone ever removed these and can give me some suggestion how to do it easily? |
