I think the greatest irony about Porsche is the way in which they have re-engineered their cars, so that they are more doctor and lawyer friendly at the expense of their racing heritage. My friend bought a Carrera, only to find out that if he tracked it, he would undoubtedly cook the engine. Naturally, FACTORY cooling kits are available, but their installation VOIDS the warranty. He sold it, and bought a 550.

So sad and silly. Clearly this is not what Porsche has been about. They will learn the hard way. Id rather see Porsche build a motorcycle.

That would be Ferry Porsche's son, also named Ferry. He also designed the original 911 and the 904.

great article. i have railed similarly (though not quite as eloquently) on other porsche outlets.

one potential error though, if memory serves, the Porsche Design goods like briefcases and the like are not in fact made by PAG, they are generally made by a wholly separate company run by one of Ferry's descendants whose name happens to be Porsche too, of course.

doody.

Great article. Very true. I'm interested in whether this will be a blunder for Porsche as well. I agree with the author in that car companys should not try to be all things to all people. I hope Ferrari does not go down this road, but I fear they will.
