Paul, you have the right recipe for a happy ferrari. You've nailed it TDC! will be using redline after my rebuild. Larry |

I have a 83 308 QV with 68,000 miles on it, I drive it every day (1,000 + miles a month rain or shine) in traffic and on the interstate and it doesn't use a drop of oil. It runs as well as a new car and has very few problems (yes I just replaced the A/C compressor), It seems to me that most of the Ferrari's that have strange problems are never driven. Why have one of the best driving cars in the world and not DRIVE it? it is beyond me. And by the way the secret for long engine life is to invest in motor oil (redline), cause that dinosaur oil is what will destroy your car more than any other single item. Just my opinion. |

It's nice to see people out there that have enjoyed there cars and were not worried about putting 100 miles a month on the "Ferrari". Bravo!! |

Greg, do a leak down and, a compression test. 175psi is great; 150psi would be borderline. keep in mind these engines are high strung and are very much like a de-tuned racing engine. in other words; they're not built for high mileage but, high fuel consumption. offer 15k and have the head's done. 328 in Dallas with 140k, they take good care of it though. Drive it every day I heard. |

Greg -- what year/model/cosmetics/service? For a QV with decent cosmetics, but needing service, it might not be a bad value. If it's a 2-valve car, it would need to have some other recent restoration (valve job, fresh paint, etc.) to justify the price IMHO. PS I sold my ex-'78 with ~130K miles for $15K -- needed paint, needed service, valve job/new carbs (100K miles), QV wheels, all smog gear intact, + a bunch of other restoration: new steering rack (90K), new rear wheels bearings (95K), fresh clutch (127K), etc. |

I was at Shelton Ferrari in Ft. Lauderdale and they were working (tuning) on a 308 with, I think he said, 77,000 plus miles on it. The key was the mileage was up there. They said the value was still around 25,000 ++ because it is in such excellent condition. The body and underframe were emmaculate. They expect the engine to last 100,000 plus before a rebuild. Hope this helps. And no, it was not for sale. It is a car that has been in one family from birth. |

I saw a 308 with over 105,000 miles on it. He was asking around $18000 for it. Is that about where is should be at or is that pretty reasonable? I haven't ran accross many like this before. |
