Thanks so much, Steve. All info is new info to me. I'm on my way to the auto parts store right now for some replacement fuel line and a purolator filter, if they have one. |

1. The flow (arrow) goes (from the carbs) into the RH fuel tank. 2. This is a downside to the externally braided hose -- can't see the cracks/conditon of the rubber material. 3. 5/16" is a bit iffy here (but OK for an 8mm ID substitute elsewhere) -- I believe the stock size for that short return hose piece is 7mm ID so a better English size equivalent is 9/32". Also check that the fitting itself (which is just a welded tube) on the fuel tank where the return line attaches is OK (i.e., no cracks). Also, if the other hoses (fuel separator) on the top of the RH fuel tank are older than a decade or 2 you might want to check/replace those too -- JMOs. |

I have a fuel leak in a line just above the right fuel tank in my '78 308. I have isolated the leak to around this little filter (?) (or is it a non-return valve?), because the piece of braided line between it and the tank is what gets soaking wet with fuel, which puddles on the top of the tank and leaks down to the ground. In this pic, the braided line to the right is only about 4" long and terminates at the right gas tank. All hose connectors have been removed, obviously, and all connections are loosened for the pic (this pic is a representation of how it was installed; the connections were tighter of course). 1. Should the arrow on that little bronze-colored filter point to the right, toward the tank (which it currently does) or to the left? 2. How can I tell where the leak is? 3. Can I replace the braided part with standard 5/16" ID fuel line, which I already bought? Any comments or help is much appreciated. -Lee
