I had a set of wiseco pistons made for my 308, they cost $1700cdn delivered with rings, pins and clips. Im surprised at the weight though, mine are 100 grams lighter than the factory ones. I didnt ask for that but feel it is an advantage over the stock heavy ones. |

You wouldn't happen to have the job number for the pistons? That way during conversation the wheel is'nt being reinvented. Thanks, Jeff Davison |

Its not that they are better then Weisco or Je, they are probably the same in quality. Venolia is made from the same material that JE and Weisco's are, but just cost alot less. I just wanted to share that you dont have to spend 1200$ on a good set of pistons for a Ferrari. To answer your question, there are so many things that have changed since the late 70's and early 80's. One of the major changes now thats becoming popular is to gap the second ring as much as .015 to .020 more then the top ring. This keeps pressure from getting trapped between the top and second ring. This keeps the top ring from lifting off its seat, and reduces ring flutter. I would give them a call, they were more then helpful and took the time to explain it all then give you the choices of how you want it made. |

Can you pass along any of the "new theory"? What makes these better than weisco or JE, etc.? |

Here are some photos of the pistons I had custom made from Venolia. I have to say what a great company to work with. They took the time to listen to my wants, and explained alot of the new age piston theory to me. I was able to work one on one with a tech, making changes to the pistons that are considered more modern and new age. I was impressed that several times they even called me with some ideas and design changes. Also even though I went with higher compression(10:1), they still were able to keep the piston the same weight as the originals which was one of my requests.
