have compared the gtsi and 4v units and they are nothing alike--i went to an alternate speedo that works---in gtsi speedo was reading 2.25x the speed when hooked to the 4v sender

David,

you are correct. for some reason, Ferrari changed a lot electronics from the carb cars to the FI and QV.

The sender for the 308 GTSi/QV is currently on sale at our sponsor Sodacoms site for $82.50. His description also says that it fits both the GTSi AND the QV. Must be the earlier carb car that uses the different one.

When I rented a 348 Spider a couple of years ago, I could almost swear the speedo was off by a lot. It showed 80 and I don't think it was doing more than 60, if even that much. It bothered me especially since I nearly got pulled over for speeding. Luckily the officer just followed me for a few miles and let me go on my way without stopping me.

I do like the GPS idea. I would definitely have to try that if I ever figure out which one I want to buy. Oh, I would also need to get the Ferrari too, but that's a different story...

Strap a GPS to the car and read the actual speed vs speedo reading. More accurate than the radar guns.

I have slightly oversize tires on the rear, which has made the speedo spot-on.

Bill and Matt,

My Euro, now in US car sems to read spot on at 40mph and also 60mph. The police had one of those freestanding speed reading devices with large readout and drove past it at constant speed to verify my speedo. Maybe i am lucky?

Enjoy the Drive,

Speaking of speedometers, do the 308 speedos tend to over-read the actual speed of the car? I have an '85 and it seems that the speedo reads a little fast --however, it could be perceptual .

Just got my car up and running tonight but I noticed that the Speedometer is running at almost 2x the correct speed. Is there a difference between the 308 gtsi and 308 4v sending units???
