I Run Bridgestone SO'2s on my 355 and a couple of porsches they are brilliantly sticky dry tires both on Street and Track,I also run 2 sizes larger in the rear of my car. They wear extremely quickly and are not good wet tires. For Day to Day street driving and wet weather/low temps the Michelin Pilot Sports would be the way to go

My 550 came with Bridgestone SO 2's as did my 575 delivered 3 mo. ago.

I do like the Michelin Pilot Sports. I have them on my MB 600 SEL.

Michelin Pilot Sports are OEM to the 550, and are reputed to be great in rain. They also last much longer than the Pirellis.

I am always trying new tires on my 4 cars. I really like the OEM tires of the 550 / 575, the Bridgestone SO 2 for aggressive around town driving wet or dry.

They also seem to last longer than others although that is only a minor consideration.

Kumho has weak distribution in Europe, could not find anything else than the KU19 model, is that the Ecsta's you're talking about ? Tirerack recommends the KU15, could not find the KU19.

Beside that, I read numerous adamant recommendations not to mount tires the car was not developped with, in particular for 355s, but I'd assume the 550 is no different. The matching between suspension set-up and tire rigidity could alter handling. Did anyone perceive changes in road handling after changing Michelin's for Kuhmo's ?

I have found that Bridgestone's top performance tire (used to be RE71, now SO3) has exceptional wet performance for the last 10 years.

P Zero is a ten year old design, and I also have noted not too spectacular wet performance, which is why Pirelli came out with Directionale to match with Assimetrico (old PZero), to improve wet performance. This was indeed an improvement.

I've read several archive posts on tire recommendations for a 550, but all of them involved track usage. Any opinion considering road use only (my 355F1 is the track car :-) ), and that means possible rain and low temps ?
Been repeatedly told that P-Zeros are slippery as soap on the wet.
Any british 550 driver around ?
Tks
