James...The door panel comes off quite quickly. Remove the screws around the bottom edge of the door panel. Next remove the screw behind the door opener. Remove the plastic storage box. Remove the two bolts for the arm rest, and the screw and it lifts up. |

Ya, my driver window sucks as well. I don't know how to remove the panel, so I don't know what to check. I guess I'll give Ben in SF a call. James |

My 1986 TR had slow windows . It turned out to be a lose cable in the door causing the mechanism to bind. |

Do you have power at the motor? If not check back through the door wires, then in the passenger compartment. THe wires may break as they feed into the door. |

Bill; I had a similar prob. When I removed the door panel I checked the clamps on the window that the cable runs through. Mine was loose and did not allow the window to go up or down. It took me a few times to get the alignment correct, but it works well now. |

I Have a friend that recently (last week) fixed his 348 window problem. It BARELY went up and down. Anyways... he found that the motor gears have a type of grease on them that over the years drys out and becomes almost like a waxy, thick, nasty mess. He said he took apart the motor, cleaned it all up, re-lubed it, cleaned all the connections (test them with a meter to make sure they are not corroded), The window now litteraly FLYS UP & DOWN!!! Check it out, might work on a TR also. Come to think of it, it sounds like this will fix EVERYBODYS window problems. If you try this and it works on your car, let everybody know here. |
