Apparently he is in real bad shape. CNN reported this evening that he has been hospitalized in London. I have never personally met him, but have admired his public serice for years. He has helped a lot of needy children over the years. Hope he pulls through. Regards, Jon P. Kofod 1995 F355 Challenge #23

I live on a mountain with several acres. I had a tree line of evergreens that was getting choaked out. So over the course of 3 days I cleared out all the brush and crap underneath. Oh ya. Wished I was dead. I am told also that you get the poison ivy ,oak etc from the oil in the plant. its leaves or roots which means you CAN get it in the winter time when the plant appears dorment if you pull it by the roots. The doctor told me he saw worse. I dont know if he was making me feel good or maybe I should have asked if they survived. Also that oozing crap that comes out of your skin is not contagoius and will not spread to another person. I am a bit of an expert now. What a dubious honor. |

Yep, Prednisone is also prescribed for cluster headaches, and i tried it once; i never found out if it was an effective "blocker" since i started to get very bloated not long after i got on the drug. I chose to suffer the headaches, rather the side effects from that stuff. I have of course tried other drugs and therapies for these headaches (does anyone else reading this suffer from these?) with mixed success. |

Bruno, That is the most horrible poison Ivy story I've ever heard. what did you do? Eat the poison Ivy by mistake or use it as toilet paper?

I was on a heavy dose of it last October for a severe poison ivy case. It took 2 weeks and I started at 10 pils a day and worked down. I gained 20 .lbs and bloated up. I am still carrying 10.lbs of the weight. I have also had 3 nuisance infections since (sore throat,ear2x.) I am told the steroids make you susceptible to other crap for 1 year from when you stop taking them. Also they give you a very heavy heart beat. You know your heart is there. Nasty stuff. Will never take again. Either a substitute or they can sedate me till the poison ivy goes away. Oh and when I say bad. My white blood cells picked it up and carried it through my body. Now it's up your a*s and down your throat in your ears and let your imagination do the rest. I still cant believe that is how its spread. I always thought it was from oozing and scratching. I feel sorry for Jerry. The French must be besides themselves. |

Oooh! I saw him on TV last night. Oh my God! Even worse, he was talking to Ed McMahon and Ed looks sick and has lost a lot of weight. I had to change the channel. |

D.B. is correct. He has pulm fibrosis and is on very large doses of steroids (prednisone) which gives him that appearance. It is sad since it is an incurable condition and steroids usually help for a short period of time unless it is caught v ery early. |

He's on steroids, that's why he has gained that weight. He was on Larry King the other night, and Jerry's little daughter called in, and Larry asked her if it's funny for her to see her dad like this. She replied by saying "what do you mean?" to which Larry replied, "to see him big like this"...to which the girl replied, "no, it makes me sad to see him like this because it's not normal" (or something to that affect). Good one Larry... |
