Jeff: california had 3rd party bad faith. The Lucas court changed the law in the law 80s, after Rose Bird was impeached. AAA and other carriers have taken the attitude that they don't have to deal with you in good faith anymore. I suggest that you report their behavior to the California Insurance Commissioner. I'd also tell everyone that you know that AAA isn't really insurance, because when you have to sue the guy who is their insured, he will be out time and money when they should have dealt with this without causing him additional grief. One month ago an old guy in a pickup drifted into my lane and hit the right front of my Viper. Here is a picture: http://home.winfirst.com/caspar/Other/P1010013.JPG Car was completely drivable but the impact cracked the hood and front fascia. Also scuffed a wheel and one tire. Fortunately a friend was directly behind me in his S2000 when it happened so I had a witness. His insurance admitted responsibility. This is what it needs: New hood New front fascia 2 new headlights radiator support all 4 wheels refinished (so they will all match) 4 new tires! ( MXX3's not made anymore) Paint Total: 25,000! I had to battle over the tires a bit as they were only going to replace 2 but the replacement tire (Sport Pilot) is a totally different and I was concerned about the high speed stability. I went through my insurance (State Farm) as it took me a week just to get a call back from AAA (his insurance). They have been very helpful and more than fair. The owner of the body shop is a Viper owner so that helps too! Hopefully back on the road in another month...
