The Sheryl Crowe video of the Song "Steve Mc Queen" has Dale Earnhardt Jr. driving a GT 40. If I were him I would have had second thoughts about that one. Bad PR for Chevy, his bread and butter.

You're right, David. I am not one for kits cars, but I do have exceptions - Anything from ERA is outstanding! Their GT40 is absolutely outstanding in every way!

Ideally Ford would build a new v10 with some of the Jaguar F1 technlogy. But since Ford is into their modular motor design, that's not gonna happen. So yea, an all aluminum version of their existing V-10. A stock v-10 has 300+hp and 450 ft torque. I saw a racing version with 700+ hp. It hasn't seemed to hurt Viper's sales that it too has a worked over truck engine.

I went to 4 dealers after they first announced this to happen. No responses.

Saw it at the auto show, then went to ERA in Conn to see theirs. ERA's is the one to buy exact duplicate, not a restyled version. I doubt ford ever does it. It was to come out in '03 to celebrate their 100th anniversary.

What V-10? The boat anchor they use in their trucks? Doesn't sound like much of an improvement to me.

I know its supposed to be a retro car, but it seems Ford could have really challenged Porsche, Ferrari and the new baby Lambo if they had put the V-10 in there.

I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Ford GT fan and I can't wait. (BTW, the car will be called the Ford GT because Ford doesn't own the rights to the GT-40 name. That is owned by the people who make the GTD-40).

As far as HFII is concerned, he really wasn't much of a car guy. In fact, his son Edsel Ford II, who is a major car guy, bought a GT40 and had it restored by Phil Remington back in the 70's. He couldn't wait to show it to his Dad, so he invited him over for dinner. When they walked into the garage HFII took one look at the GT 40 and asked "What kind of Italian piece of crap is that?"

Looks like an impressive car. I hope they make them for a while so they see more track time than Zaino.

Interesting last line:
'Henry Ford II ordered up the GT40 after his unsuccessful attempt to purchase Ferrari.'
