I had the buyer for my second box of cigars back out after waiting for over a month for his money (fortunatly not a FC member). This leaves me with one box of cigars still available. If anyone out there is interested...Remember that Christmas is just around the corner.. feel free to contact me and I'll give you any info you would like. |

I am down to one box. Surely with all the cigar knowledge on this post, there is someone wanting a fine box of Cubans. I have pictures for those interested but have no clue how to post them. Just remember that the money is going directly to the purchase of my first F-car. |

Tyler, I too enjoy the R&J cazadores and the punch punch. The hoyo epicures are also a nice smoke if you are in the mood for something on the lighter side. I really could care less for the Opus, but the opportunity to capitalize on the boom was in my lap! I have been trying to find some Bolivar Gold Medals, but have yet to find some. Maybe once my humi gets restocked we should trade a couple smokes for fun. Lately I have been outta the loop when it comes to the current situation of Cubans, but are the new box codes still encrypted(a la NIVEL OCUSO), or are the dates explicitly stated? |

Tazio, thank you for the pics and description you emailed me. I am not interested in year 2000 production but thank you anyway. Whart, I also have a strong palate for cigars. I have not smoked the Davidoff you mentioned. I agree that the Monte #2 can be brilliant. With any handcrafted item(including Ferraris) you have to possess a tolerance for inconsistency. double corona is close enough, Lusitanias are roughly 49 x 7.5 I haven't yet found a pre-embargo cigar that I have fallen in love with, but I have not smoked very many either. |

We seem to share the same taste in cigars. I like a strong, spicy smoke and am also partial to the Bolivar Belicoso Fino. Among the Cohibas, i actually like the Robusto; and the Partagas double corona (luisitania?) kicks alot more than the comparable cigars of others. I also found some Davidoff Anniversario 80's and have an interesting stash of pre-embargo cubans, which are legal (although, like a wine beyond its prime, they are a bit too mellow for my strong taste). Monte #2's can be brilliant on occasion, and are readily accessible in most civilized nations. |

John, I also favor Bolivars. The Belicosos Finos is my favorite Bolivar, although I only smoke the 2002 production or production that is 6 years old or older. The last few years the Belicosos blend was changed and in my opinion not for the better. They retrurned to the old blend for 2002. I also like the Bolivar Gold Medal. I don't really care for Opus X very much. I prefer the Cohiba Siglo IV to the Esplendidos but I'd like to have a few boxes of Esplendidos to set aside and age 6-8 years. I'll give you a brief run down of my favorites and things I like to stock in my humidor. Listed alphabetically rather than by preference. Cubans: Bolivar Belicosos Finos Bolivar Robustos H. Upmann Sir Winston Hoyo de Monterrey Churchills Montecristo #2 Montecristo #4 Montecristo Millenium Partagas Lusitanias Partagas Serie D No. 4 Punch Punch Ramon Allones Specially selected Romeo y Julieta Cazadores Romeo y Julieta Celestiales Finos Trinidad Fundadores ALL OTHERS: Bahia(hence my username) I cannot say enough good things about Bahia Cigars. Bahia Trinidad all sizes Bahia Gold Natural all sizes Bahia Gold Maduro churchill, torpedo and #4 Bahia Millenium all sizes Camacho Corojo all sizes Camocho Diploma Robusto Camacho Liberty all sizes Felipe Gregorio Fusion II La Aurora Perferidodos Padron Anniversario all sizes Saint Luis Rey Torpedo(the old blend from 6-8 years ago) I'll check out Cigarfamily.com

Tyler, If you were to buy a box of Esplendidos at an authorized Habanos S.A. shop in Cuba, then you would pay $384.00/box. But there are several ways to get around this price. I personally like the Siglo IVs and robustos. I used to post and trade a lot at www.cigarfamily.com You can find some amazing smokes from the people there. I was even able to score three boxes of Opus-X at the pinnacle of the cigar boom from a guy who posted there. Quite incredible considering that I was 16 or so at the time. I bought them for retail and sold them for a 200% profit! What smokes do you prefer? I tend to be a Bolivar man myself. |

Tazio, email me pictures please. make sure to include pics of codes on bottom of boxes. John, if you are paying $390 a box you are getting ripped. If they are legitimate and depending on the production date I am interested.

Unless mailed within the U.S. there is the chance of these cigars being confiscated by U.S. customs. For 20 yrs I got M-Cristo's # 1 and #2 mailed from Geneva with no problems. Then 3 boxes were confiscated at Kennedy airport and destroyed (or smoked by agents) and that was the end of the source. |

The reason they are so expensive in Canada is because of their out of control tobacco taxes. The cheapest places(outside of Cuba) to buy Cuban cigars are Spain, Portugal, and Switzerland. If they are 100% legit, which they sound like they are, $300/box is a steal. I would buy them, but my father is actually going to Cuba tomorrow to visit some of out relatives, and will be bringing me back some premo smokes. |

I'm still not sure what to sell them for. I know from calling around that in Canada the boxes sell for $1800 CAD (just under $1200 USD). At the same time I know that that price is way out there. On the net I have seen this box range from about $400-$700 per box. I think if someone was willing to buy the pair of boxes I would sell them for $300 each. I know I got them free and all but I don't want to just give these things away either. I am a bt of a way off my F-car so every penny is going to a very worthwhile cause. |

I know that these are cigars are legit. They were given to my father as a gift by some government minister in Cuba and no one in my household smokes. As a result, I am selling them to add to my F-car fund. I suppose speeding is illegal as well so I don't feel too bad about selling them. |

Tazio, As the law is written, it is still illegal for you to sell those cigars. Even if you bought them on a legally sanctioned trip to Cuba, you are still not allowed to sell them. Regardless of how you got them, I believe Habanos S.A(the gov't distributor of Cuban Tobacco) still sells the Esplendidos for about $390/box in Cuba. So if you got them for a significantly lower price, the cigars may be suspect. One quick thing to check is the actual finish on the box. All sides except the bottom of the box should have some kind of finish applied to them. Also, if these Cohibas are in some special box with a plexiglass top on them BEWARE!!! Let me know if you have any questions, I would be more than happy to help |

I have two new boxes of Cohiba Esplendidos and was wondering how I could sell them. They are 100% legitimate and came straight from Cuba. I don't smoke so I thought I could sell them. E-bay will not let me list them so where do I go? Any help or leads would be appreciated. As an aside, if anyone reading these would like one or both of the boxes for themselves, I'd be more than happy to sell them off to you. They are brand new, sealed, and never opened. I can e-mail you pictures so that you know exactly what you are getting. |
