Nothing wrong with owning a Z06 as daily driver, especially when your known to always have several lamborghinis on hand, since the seventies. I met Mario during the Running of the Bulls event a few years back, very nice guy. |

Z06 is one helluva car, Mark. No excuses, it is hands-down world class. If I ever sell my M3, I will probably get a Z06. Ross: YOU LUCKY STIFF!!!!!! |

i met mario in 1977 in monaco on saturday before the gp. he couldn't have been nicer to me. i was 12 and was already a car nut. back in those days it was not as restrictive as now, and he spotted me as an american and took me around to look at the cars being worked on by the mechanics and invited me into the motorhome for a coke (by the way, got similar treatment from jody shekter and walter wolf - ah those were the days....). i still have the picture of mario and me in front of the harbor on my desk at home......needless to say i think he is one of the all-time greats. |

I wonder if Mario knows that he is "common people" and "one of the million boring Corvette owners". Some people really love themselves. I buy my cars for me, not for what everyone will think of me. Im Proud to be a common, boring Z06 owner who also owns a Ferrari. |

I met him at NADA in Las Vegas, a very nice guy indeed. I wish I had more time to talk to him but there were other folks in line wanting to talk to him too. |

THIS WAS A THREAD FROM THE CORVETTE FORUM: Hey all, A buddy and I attended a fundraiser in Lehigh County (PA) last night where Mario Andretti was to make an appearance. Long story short, Mario appeared early and stayed late, and really spent some good time talking to the two of us about cars. It was amazing! I used the fact that I have a Z06 as a way to start the conversation, asking him how he liked his. He replied that he has a Ferrari and Diablo, etc., but that the Z06 was by far "the best bang for the buck," and that it's the car that he drives "most of the time." He continued that they (Chev.) really got the car right, that the balance is good, and that the attention to the castings and whatnot really show that they made the car special. The conversation really rolled from there (we wondered if we, being a couple of car nuts, were bringing him down with car conversation that he must get burdened with all the time, but it was clear that he LOVES talking cars, especially in a setting where the other people there probably were just blowing smoke in his ear).
