I agree Mark. On a side note I went to the Nutcracker the other night sponsored by Saturn. As they say "brought to you by Saturn" they then ramble on for 2 minutes about their cars. Freaking car ad in the nutcracker. And what about the ones in the movie previews....sigh.... |

If they want to make a real movie, they need to stop putting product place-ment over real movie making. Ford-T Bird, Jag, Austin Martin... all from the Ford family of cars. They wasted all the exotics and I'd love to see some old historic cars. That would make the films great again. They sold out to BMW in the last two films and sold out to FORD in this one. Will we ever see a good car chase in film again (like Golden Eye) or are we stuck with car commercials? This sucks. |

The trick to a good bond film is the bad guy. They did not give us time to understand, or a reason to hate the bad guy. The best bond films had the most believeable bad guys. I think the last 3 bond fims have sucked because the bad guy was weak. This film felt even more rushed and the characters never developed to anything. Just people thrown at us. OctoPussy, Moon Raker, View to a Kill, Golden Gun, and Golden Eye (bad woman)... all had such great reasons to enjoy the strugle. |

I agree with everything, Ross, except for Madonna's accent. She's from Rochester, Michigan, not the Bronx. |

i am a huge bond fan. i have all the old ones in video. this new one is only ok. i thought some of the scenes were just ridiculous - eg the kite surfing. i usually love the special effects and over-the-top situations and escapes, but that was just stupid and the whole thing was so obviously computer generated that it took away from some of the more'real' scenes. the car scenes were also disappointing; obviously there was little traction on the ice, so they cut many shorter sequences and spliced them together, which made for a very disjointed chase scene. etc etc i did like the sword fighting scene (madonna starting to look old, and she obviously can't rid herself of that bronx accent). i thought halle berre was pretty good, and was virtually the only thing that lived up to the hype. the opening scene was great too; but then they didn't need to go on and on w/ the torutre - we get the picture. there are better ways to show gadgets and cool escapades, without going to computer generated everything. the previous brosnan movies were better. |

I went to see the movie on opening night and I have to say I'd give it a 4 out of 5. First, the movie starts out really well. We really see that Bond is afterall human when he gets captured and tortured for 14 months! It's really a movie of bravoury where he has to regain his reputation and he does it very well. The sword fight WILL be a classic fight for generations to come, even the sword fights in Romeo and Juliet can't beat this one! I don't think Halle Berry is all what people said about her, I liked Miranda Frost ALOT more, she reminded me of old Bond girls. She will also be remembered and she is part of one of the best twists of the movie! The Aston Martin is MARVELOUS, I hate to say it but it would have more road presence than a Maranello on the road because of those HUGE rear bulged out fenders. I didn't feel like they tried to overdo XXX because I didn't see XXX. I'm a die hard Bond fan, not a knock off fan! But as far as Pierce Brosnan movies go, they go in this order from most favorite to least favorite: 1-Goldeneye 2-Tomorrow Never dies 3-Die another day 4-The World is not enough James Bond will return! |

Bond ALWAYS uses the same formula, but its a good one, It dates back At least as far as William Shakespeare. Good boy meets girl, Bad boy takes girl, Good boy fights Bad boy to regain girl. Good boy & good girl are reunited. The politics, espionage, & Q's toys are just thrown in to give the story a little more body I really liked this Bond, Its 1 of my 4 faves now. Living Daylights with Timothy Dalton is my #1 Bond movie, then The spy who shagged, Oops I meant Loved me Then Golden Gun, & Thunderball. Pierce's first movie GoldenEye & Moore's Moonraker are the absolute worst ever Bond movies IMHO |

I liked it, the AM was cool, Q was cool, that old chick as M is a serious mistake, she is about as threatening as your grandma. The opening surf scene was cool & Halley is Smoking!!!! Bond needs a 512TR to smoke both the Vanquish & the XKR |

Ya I got the spelling right in the 3rd post thanks to horsefly. And asking me if I have ever seen a bond film, 19 of them so far, missed a few. And this one was more far out than all of them. Guess I like the early 60's one best. |

I enjoyed it, but it felt like it was trying to out do XXX more than anything... BTW, spelling Aston Martin, Austin Martin is an insult in itself. ;) |

Yep, I agree, it went a bit too far. Some of the effects were thumbs up while others bordered on Vin D's XXX. |

I was truly disapointed in the movie. It went way too far. I did like some of the hints to past JB movies. |

Horsefly It was so far fetched, I have seen them all and this one was the worst ever, good effects, but so ridiculous. The ASTON Martin looked awsome. Talk about far fetched the Aston had an invisible mode, Ya I know, that was only the beginning. |

Aston Martin. I taped the satellite video feed of Ebert & Ropers movie review show today, and they basically said that it was a rehash of a typical Bond plot: Bond meets girl and saves the world from the evil villan. Sounds like the same old song and dance. (And of course this thread belongs in Off Topic). |

Just got back from the most far fetched movie I have ever seen including superman. It was an insult to Austin Martin. Hope I spelled that right. Any one seen it yet? Any comments? |
