Chris, Definately go check out LeMans Karting! I just got back from there, the place rocks. I did the Sprint race, which was a 5 minute qualifying session followed by a 20 minute race. Great track. Easy to go fast, difficult to go quick. The best part was spanking these two SCCA guys that were being real cocky. Ben, I dropped your name and they sure like you guys there! Thanks for letting us know about it. ~Chris |

Ben, Thanks for the link. I work about a mile from this place and I didn't even know it existed. Now I have something to do during lunch. Thanks, Chris |

There is closer indoor karting to Pleasanton (~10 miles maybe?)... http://www.lemanskarting.com/ Cheaper (sessions), newer (open <2 months), and faster karts (9hp vs 6.5hp). Tell them Ben from AutoZotica sent you. -Ben |

For indoor kart racing, go to Speedring in Santa Clara. It's a nice facility and a fun time. Santa Clara is about a 25 mile drive from Pleasanton. Ferrari of SF is actually in Mill Valley, a few miles on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge. As you probably already know, the Pleasanton-Livermore area is a sleepy area, mainly residential, and like much of Silicon Valley, they roll up the sidewalks at 10 pm. You can do some wine tasting in Livermore, for nightclubs, downtown San Jose is probably closest. For pro sports still in season, its the Sharks in San Jose or the Warriors in Oakland. You can also go to Oakland to watch the cars burn! SF in the cultural center, with good museums, music, restaurants. There is the Blackhawk car museum in Danville that may be interesting to you. Depending on how much you've done in SF, I would return there if you can go in the daytime. Ride a cable car, walk across the bridge, Alcatraz. Also check out citysearch.com as they will have a listing of current events. But for shear fun, you'll be right on target at Speedring. Chris

I am stuck down here in Pleasanton/Livermore until Friday on business. I have been down here a few times so I know the lay of the area pretty well (readH have driven around for hours on end exploring). Does anyone have suggestions as to what to do in the evenings? I have been trying to find a good indoor kart track, does anybody have any ideas where there might be one? I have gone into San Fran a bit on past trips, but have not found Ferrari of San Fran. Thanks for the suggestions! |
