Rob, While I've never been to Texas, I swear that every other guy in the Marine Corps came from Texas! The Corps was a great equalizer: I knew guys that, when a boot, fresh out of Boot camp, were pretty hard-core racists. 6 months later, after working in a diverse comminuty like the military, they were often ashamed of how they felt before. Most of those guys were pretty damn cool, and sh*t could they drink! |

You were in East Texas unfortunately, the prettiest part of the state visually, but not the most modern educated minds. At least you know those people are racist, because they will tell you. It's all of these city folk in DFW that are really just as racist under the veil of PC. Those are the ones you have to watch your back for. |

Hahaha, Dan. Real world, eh? I'm not 18, nor am I living on mommy and daddy's purse strings. I use my Montgomer GI bill to fund my school, as well as a 4.0 GPA derived scholarship. I spent years in the real world, made lots of money, and paid a bunch in taxes. I decided to go to school after realizing I wanted to learn more. And I can easily distinguish the profs that teach vs. the profs that have an agenda to push. The fact is, there is no difference, aside from slight physical differences, between you and the black people that you are "carrying" on your back. You live in the south. You have a southern viewpoint on race and gender. Before you come at ME and attempt to push your ass-backward agenda down my throat, why not try living in a civilized portion of the world? I was born in Minnesota, lived in VA and DC, Chicago, San Diego, and have spent the last 13 years in LA. That's called the real world...try experiencing it. And guess what, bub? Whites outnumber all minorites BIG TIME. How's 200 million whites to 80 million minorities? Of course, you have reason to be scared that black and mexicans might get some political power, right? I mean, the MASTER race might lose it's appeal to you, right? Sell your business, your Ferrari, and go buy a clue. |

here's another pro-NASCR article, also from The Slate online magazine: http://slate.msn.com/id/2078672/ I decided to watch my first NASCAR race in 20 years Sunday, the coveted Daytona 500. I guess they don't race in the rain, so it was cut short...I was hoping Dale's kid would win, it would have been nice. I have always prefered open-wheel racing to production car series, and still prefer CART and F1. As to our fellow Americans in the South, I have found from working with many a 'good ol' boy' that Southerners sence of humor is like the English...either you get it or you don't, depending on YOUR IQ level. Ignorant Rednecks are everywhere (just visit Colorado sometime). I enjoy the Southern humor and enjoyed working with both the good ol' boys and Southern women. However...I visited a relative in Texas/Louisianna not long ago; I was entering a Wal-Mart in Huntsville, and held the door open for a Black lady behind me..the look on her face instantly conveyed the fact that this was a common courtesy she was not accustom too receiving from 'white folks'. Later, while in Jasper, Texas (yes, THAT Jasper) I was walking along a levy and asked 2 elderly Black fisherman how the fish were bitting. To say these 2 fishermen were scarred and nervouse talking to us (me and my Dad) would be an understatement...it was also explained to me by a local that "Texas doesn't have Blacks....we have N....rs". Make of it what you will, I'm not passing judgement either way, just passing along some first-hand expierences

Just for your information guys - a few years ago NASCAR started something called a "Diversity Program" to encourage minorities to enter the sport. Nika www.racerchicks.com

Neb, I just read your profile, maybe when you get out in the real world, cut all financial ties to dear old mom and dad and start earning a living, (if your degree is right then maybe a good living) you will see just how much of your money goes to waist. and when you hit the 36% tax bracket, and realize that none of that money is available to you as an U.S. citizen, so that you may live the American dream, you will get out of that SoCal mentality and wake up to reality. I have been in the 36% tax bracket for several years, I have worked for private companies, and I have worked for Government Contractors, I have seen this extreem bias that our government empliments every day. I now own my own business, and I still have to put up with this constant government bias. This is truth, The Universities are not feeding you the truth about our society. Until you experience reality quit preaching on it. |

DES, I got mad, made my point and defended the southern culture, only to run into the very type of people this weekend that fit that stereotype. Thus it made me want to express this: there are uneducated people in the south that personify this image. they do exist. I will not say that they don't. But they are not the norm. Nebula, you got mud in my eye. My opinion of you still stands. Also, I have a Degree, I've been subjected to the Colleges' mentality and it is wrong. They are very liberal minded and it shows Like a badge on their Jacket. There is an ethnic struggle going on in our country, and in our world. This is and has always been the case. So if you want to wait until you are the one being suppressed and hide behind "we had it coming" so that your children don't have any fair playing field then go ahead. I want it equal. It is no longer equal. Now it is leaning toward the other ethnic groups. I will stand up for my ethnic group until we have it equal. THAT DOES NOT EQUATE TO RACISM YOU (insert what ever I called you in my last post). I own my own business, I know what I am saying when I talk about government funding, and the biases the goes on with it. EVERY person we talked to about getting a business loan said "is there anyway that you can put this into your wife's name so that you can qualify for a minority loan?" I did not do that, I did not get a Small business loan. My ducks were in order, I just didn't fit the ethnic quota for the loan. So go make mud pies out of that. And if you lived here in the south then you know better. Also, to all of you who participate in the F1 experience, I hope that you enjoy it to its fullest extent. I did not try to nor was it my intention to insult anyone by saying that they participate in purchasing stuff due to its affiliation to F1. I just wanted to make the correlation between the two. No one has said anything to me, I just want to make that clear. Dan |

Dan, I'm white. Dan, I lived in the south for a long time. Dan, my family has lived in the South for YEARS. (Ever heard the last name of Couch??) Dan, I'm conservative. Dan, you are an idiot. Go spout your "proud of my race" crap somewhere else. News flash: There is no break-down of race within our species. Sorry. Black, white, chinese, indian.....we're all human. Try college. They might teach you that. |

i don't like southern jokes- they're just another form of racism to me... Making a joke about oneself and making a joke about an entire culture are two different things... i have nothing against the "southern culture"- i don't think i'm better than them or they're better than me, i just don't agree with the way of life that is stereotypically projected to be the way of life for most southerners... It gets pretty hair-splitting when you start talking about the ways of an entire culture, when not everyone within that culture does the things that that culture has been stereotyped to do... Yes, i noticed his use of the word "nigra" and was taken aback- then i just figured there was no possible way someone would let this slide, so it must be some "nascar" terminology that i am unaware of- i was so open-minded, i ended up being closed-minded, lol... "...but a Black male, or any female can justs about always qualify. This is not equal." You're right, it's not, and i can't say i agree with it or think it's okay- but what some white people are experiencing these days is what minorities & white women experienced for centuries- what comes around, goes around, i guess- maybe it's some kind of a lesson and once we've all learned it, the world might be a better place... Who knows, i'm just grasping at straws, here... |

By the way, I don't mind southern jokes. I know quite a few and injoy telling them. If you can't laugh at yourself then who can you laugh at? I don't think the author was joking though. |

DES, I think that it is everyones nature to be proud of their race, and background. I am proud of mine, and just like the other races out there, I want to make it known. The squeaking wheel gets the grease. I took a shot at the author by saying that he was an exstreme liberal. Liberals tend to be pro abortion, pro gay rights, and pro Black. these are (as my shot was so underlined with) the politically correct things to support, and what the liberal press as well as others would like you to believe is the most enduring equal rights issues today. I want to say that I am 100% for equal rights, But the key word is equal. In my opinion we have suffered from the sling shot effect. Now everything is actually geared up to be pro black. I am white, thus I am sqeaking. If you doubt me, then try as a white American male to get a government funded small business loan to start from scatch with little assets. It is alomost impossible, but a Black male, or any female can justs about always qualify. This is not equal. I believe that when I go out and earn a living that I have planned for and built with goals set forth that I should keep just as much of my paycheck (% wise) as the next guy. But instead I have to pay more % in taxes than the guy who drank his way through high school and now digs ditches. Flat tax. plain and simple. And yes I did get pissed off at his attitude about the southern croud. It is a culture, just like any other culture, and Southerners live that way because they like it, not because they are stupid. The author did use the word nigger, he just hid it as "nigra" when he quoted the other promoter. He used it, but in a liberal way as to hide it and make the southerner look stupid at the same time. I must ask, did you catch that in this article? because you made the comment "If i read the article and the author had chose to use the n-word i would've been quite offended and would've perceived the author as being a racist..." I have calmed down much |

Dan, i think you're right- the most red bleeps i ever had in one post was 5... i don't believe the author of the article was slandering southerners, rather he was sharing a stereotypical opinion on Nascar fans- a majority of which, happen to be southern... i have nothing against southerners or Nascar fans- read my last post again... Your use of the n-word (again- not nascar ) was offensive to me, which is why i responded to Nebula's post... i'm not a liberal, nor was i trying to shame you or anyone else into being one... Just because blacks use the word, doesn't necessarily give you the right to use the word- in all honesty and fairness, you have every right to use that word, regardless of whoever else uses it- it's just offensive... Freedom of speech can sometimes be a very convoluted right and is not so easily understood... i never tried to change what you said- i just commented on it... Just commenting on your "aggresive style of response"... Now... if i could just side track for a second, here... Why is it that you're proud to be white...? i'm just curious...? Also... Since i'm asking... What exactly did you mean by this: "That article was written by a Full blooded baby killing, gay pride marching, Black ass kissin' Liberal." |

Hum, lets see, I stand behind my post. I am not ashamed to say that I am WHITE, and Proud of it. I will not let the likes of Nebula and DES shame me into being a stupid liberal. As for the word nigger, Blacks use this word like they made it up themselves there DES, so don't give me or anybody else that crap about letting it die in the past. AND, Racism is on both sides of the fence there brother. BUT, Nebula, you are apparently black or running for office, because you want to put words in my Educated, Degree holding, Southern born Conservative White American mouth. This pansy waste reporter was So liberal that he couldn't bare to use the N- word, so as not offend his readers. That mentality is Bull (or as Nebula would say white horse , or is that Black horse , or is it clear horse , or is just too offensive, you stupid ). This you moron, is not a race issue, but an issue of this retard trying to appease his closed minded (but that way so as to appear open minded to appease the black man) white liberal readers who in turn do exactly what you guys are doing here. Cheering his dumb ass on. The only thing that makes me as sick is the fact that you guys don't give a about the reporter slandering southerners (which by the way was my point, until DES and Nebula decided to change what I said to "all niggers should die"). He give a ridiculously off color depiction of southerners just to build up his personification of being well rounded and educated. I got news for you bagel eating holier than thou fuckers, southerners are just as good if not better at poking fun at your high society and the fact that you guys think that you are the only enlightened ones on the face of this planet. Indy Car racing is great, it has allot of the cutting edge automotive technology, great drivers, and a hole slew of followers, but you dumb asses get all gitty about some shcoumacher's (sp) outfit, or 1/18th size indy cars, or a helmet signed by a driver, or stupid bullshit just the way that people do about NASCAR. I for one don't follow any of it. I don't buy Tide because of the driver, I don't shop at home depot or only buy pontiac just because I like some guys personality, and I don't drive a Ferrari just because it has F1 heritage. but that goes on in Indy car too. SO slide your big fat asses of that fuckin' dead horse and shut up. Dan |

Ok... That's a little clearer on it, i can agree with that... Although Lincoln wasn't completely righteous in his own regard, but that's another thread, altogether... Otherwise, i agree with what you're saying... & i don't see it as weak, Dan, that people won't use the N-word (not Nascar ), i see it as a sign of respect for letting tragedy die with the past in which it took place (although racism is still rampant today)... i could really go on and on, but Dan, you should really re-think your psot, in my opinion- it's rather offensive... If i read the article and the author had chose to use the n-word, i would've been quite offended and would've perceived the author as being a racist... i would also go so far as to say that what he stated makes sense: i don't believe i would go to one of these events either, if i were in that group's minority, knowing that the najority of that group pulled in with confederate flag license plate holders and bumper stickers and so forth... This is in no way any type pf support for any type of segregation, rather what i mean to say is this: Any smart mouse knows to stay away from the snake pit. |

I agree DES - the sport itself isn't class-less, and there are a lot of people involved who are stand-up guys. But, the overall majority of the fans are good 'ol Confederate supporters who are still sore that the Union army won. These are the same low-rent hicks who are complaining about the statue of Lincoln that is proposed for construction in Richmond Va....the hicks there think Lincoln is a criminal who stopped the confederate army and government from keeping with the traditions of tobacco and cotton slave practices. The fact is, no matter how hard NASCAR tries to identify with the modern, intelligent American, it will always be lookd upon as a redneck sport, mainly because people like Dan go around waving southern-pride flags and calling people weak because they don't say "nigger." |

Nebula, although i agree with you, my attempt was to try and clarify what Dan was saying- give him a second chance to rephrase and possibly correct what he said... You're more impatient than i am, though... Thank you... One thing i need to disagree with you on, though, is this: That, although Nascar may seem like a low class sport, it's really not right to call it that; i agree with you, though, my personal opinion is that it is low class... But my personal opinion is wrong, too, then... As funny as it may sound, there are some very high class people out there who like it... Damn, if Birdie saw this, she'd go nuts- i know i'm way too P.C. sometimes, sorry... Can't help it... |

Dan....you're an idiot. A stupid, redneck, racist southern idiot, by the sounds of it. NASCAR is low-class. It has been, it still is, and it always will be. And any attempt to "class it up" is blown out of the water by hicks like you making comments like you just made. Go slop a hog, you inbred d*ckhead. |

What a pompous ass Liberal to do??? Just what he did. That article was written by a Full blooded baby killing, gay pride marching, Black ass kissin' Liberal. He put down the NASCAR crowd, made fun of southerner's, and played the race card all in one shitty article. and to think that you guys sit around on your high mound saying " By George, he's got it... oh dear, look at those poor uneducated drunk Christian rednecks roaming the country side in search for a 6 pack and a loose pig" The stupid little couldn't even say the Word NIGGER! Yep, very true though, funny how they put their beer down by their side and bow in silence as Oral Roberts says the prayer and respond "damn, that was a good prayer, don't you agree ?". Just another Christian Coalition meeting to show their true colors of hypocrisy. Spirituality is soulfully intelligent, religion is a cult of humanization (hypocrisy). |
