I volunteer with Houstons Child Advocates and Help raise about $25K a year with one of my friends the Team Leader and a poster here Alan Leach to participate in their go-kart events, even have some marketing for them on my site. I also contribute to German Shepard Dog Rescue (where on of my Shepards is from).... Wish I could do more but I'm just a working stiff.

It's for the kids... The kids are our future, they need guidance and as much support as they can get, especially in today's world... If i were a kid now, i don't think i could handle all the crap that they deal with- when i was a kid, it was a lot different... My Aunt is the PTA president at one of the schools here- when i first moved here, i was always helping her with something, before i found a job- it's been that way ever since, even after i found work... Lately, it's been difficult, but i want to be as active as i can... Kind of ironic, though, 'cause i'll never have kids of my own... LOL... |

Our Family has a foundation that has suported many charities for many years. I personally have been a big brother, a tutor, an art cart volunteer, and have helped out at a drug treatment program. My wife drives meals on wheels, my mother who's in her 80ies still does volunteer work at a hospital in the Bronx and my Dad gave so much money to anti war groups that he made Nixon's enemy list. Sadly many days I feel it's not enough... |

How many of you are volunteers or involved with a charity? This could be anything really, offering service or contributions. Just curious to know. As for myself, I find some time out of school and work to do service with a charity or two, but I'm developing a plan to start a non-profit corporation that focuses on providing opportunity to those who truly need it (western and developing nations). It's a complex setup, so I couldn't give you a completely concrete answer as to what the fund will do, other than alot. |
