i was supposed to go to the city on Wednesday night, but plans changed... If i went, i was considering going to the Mattel outlet or Hot Wheels outlet (whichever one it is) and browsing around... i'm thinking it was probably better that i DIDN'T go... At least, now, i still have my rent money... |

Finally...! After MONTHS of waiting and searching and nurturing thoughts of DESpair that i would never find one- i found one...! a 1:18 Porsche Carrera GT...! Oh, man, what a beautiful car... Made by Maisto, of the Premiere Edition series, the detail on this baby is exquisite, complete with a spoiler (or wing) on the back, that's actually adjustable...! Displayed in grey, i got the only model they had, in black, which suits me just fine... i was thrilled... i picked it up in The Sharper Image, by the way, for a little bit more than they usually run... While i was there, i saw other cars, but none i was interested in except the Infineon Audi R8 Le Mans-Sieger 2001... Holy crap, what a car...! When i took it out of the box and unscrewed the the thing the attach it to, i immediately compared it to my 1:18 Cadillac LMP, which is made by Hot Wheels... The Infineon, also made by Maisto, is part of their GT Racing series and has more detail than the real thing...! Seriously, the attention that was payed to the design and construction of this car was incredible... i'm very pleased to add these two new additions to my shelf (now if i could just find room...) Also picked up a 1:43 Hot Wheels Ferrari Collectibles Ferrari 348 TB... |

You can have it Des. I can't keep up. My fingers are getting cramps and my keyboard starts smoking. Do you have a 10,000 cfm cooling fan running over your computer and keyboard to keep them from overheating????? |

Ok, so Saturday night's search was a dry one, so Sunday morning, after breakfast at IHOP with Q (my Aunt) and my two cousins, i decided to check one of the Targets out here and another Toys R Us- well Toys R Us did it again- everything there was crap except for one, lone car... It's almost like they know i'm coming and they put out one car and mysteriously enough, no one else takes it... i found myself clutching the Hot Wheels box of a red 550 Barchetta Pininfarina... Oh, man, this car certainly has a unique style to it... Very nice... The next place was Target- they had two Ferraris...! Unfortunately, all they had were different colored models of cars i already had- my two most recent additions, no less...! They had a black 550 Barchetta & a silver 360 spider... i won't by the same 1:18 car just 'cause it's a different color, i'd rather put that money towards a different car... It's definitely obvious, though, that Hot Wheels is starting to release the good cars... Also, i saw a Murcielago for sale, by Hot Wheels- the one i have was by Maisto-- what's going on, here...? Is Hot Wheels monopolizing production and exclusive distribution of the exotics...? Lastly, comparing my new 550 Barchetta to my new 360 spider, i must say Hot Wheels has confused the crap outta me... The 550 is almost all metal, with intense detail, etc, etc, etc... Yet, the 360 spider has a lot more plastic than it should and the detail is, in some areas, downright mediocre- for example, the gas tank lid on the spider is just a painted circle- that's it...! However, on the Barchetta, it's fully detailed, definitely a separate piece, not just some painted-on picture... Why do they do this...? |

Thanks, Peter... It's only one, so far, but it's a very important one... Now i need to start finding the rarer ones- a 333 SP, a P4, an F40 or F50, a 550 or 575- maybe even a Dino... Geez, i need everyone except the 360 coupe, 360 spider & the Enzo... It'll be a loooooooong search... i'm looking forward to it... |

...i mean, i can't express in words, how happy i was, to find the 360 spider... None of you have any idea, i've wanted this so bad, for so long... My little cousin got one- ordered it on line, months and months ago... Still, i waited... DES wanted nothing more than a 360 spider to go with his 360 coupe... & sure i could've ordered it on line, and i would've been thrilled when it arrived, but there's just no comparing the feeling of endless searching and finally finding what you're looking for... i had no idea when i left work, that tonight would be so successful... It was such a surprise, it's totally awesome... It's supposed to rain all weekend, but my weekend is already made... i found a very nice, diverse addition to my collection with the Rosemeyer and the 360 spider just made everything that much more awesome... i'm so totally stoked... |

Figured since i didn't have a car for 14 days, that after work, tonight, i should go out, hit the toy stores and see what's been stocked since i last made the rounds... ...BOOM...! i hit 5 different stores and scored 4 different toys...! Let's get the crap out of way, first- one of the toys, for my boss, was a 1:18 1963 Corvette Split Window Stingray- the exact model he's looking to by a 1:1 of... Moving on, the first thing i found was Audi's Supersportwagen Rosemeyer-- oh, man, this thing is great- probably one of the heaviest 1:18s in my collection... Detail is awesome and the car looks just plain mean... A convenient sale at K B Toys let me pick this bad boy up for just $10- made by Maisto, no less...! i was very pleased... On to the other K B Toy store (as i had already been to a Toys R Us and found nothing), where i found a Hot Wheels Collectible 1:43 red 360 coupe, complete with plastic case, yaddda yadda yadda... A few weeks ago, i saw others just like this (part of the same collection): a 348tb and a 355, but wasn't sure if they were old or not- the 360 tells me that this is a fairly new collectible line and that i should pick those other ones up, when i see them... Lastly, i stopped at another Toys R Us, only to be disappointed by the same, anger-inspiring selection from Hot Wheels- those damn hot rod buses with the colorful flames on the siDES... You see these things EVERYWHERE- why...? 'Cause nobody buys 'em...! So, as a last ditch effort, i'm looking at the hanging 1:59 selection and i just happen to peer down and what do i see...? a 1:18 Hot Wheels box, turned over... i can see yellow, but i'm not sure what it is... i pick the box up... ...BOOM! It's a 360 spider...! WOOOHOOO...! It doesn't get any better than this...! This means that Hot Wheels might actually be distributing the damn products...! Everyone be on the look out...! For now, though, i have to go put these up on the shelf with the rest of the collection... Don't go far, though, folks-- pictures will be posted soon...! |
