In Vegas last year I wanted to put $1000 on red and win or lose in one shot.
Since I have no desire to gamble I did not. Ended up playing slots (worst chances ever) and lost $2.50. Mainly becuase I ended up waiting for my wife at the Airport next to a slot machine.

Jordan, while you are waiting for ed mcmahon, i'll be out finding recently mopped floors without a "Caution: wet floor" sign, or uneven sidewalks to fall on. You woujld be suprised how rewarding stupidity is in this country.

Blackjack is the game of choice and yes boiler room was where i got the idea from. That was a movie though, and we all know how real those are (rolling eyes). i dont want to get my ass arrested so its better to keep it among friends for recreational purposes. not for money. Blackjack is a fun game. $1 hands are best whe playing with friends, seeing how you can still end up down $40 at the end of the night if you arent lucky. $10 hands are too rich for my blood.

Tim,

I operated a small card game out of my room at the University of Michigan when I was there a couple summers ago every night for two months- more for fun then for money, but let me tell you- the best advice I can give you is:

1. Keep the max under 10 dollars, if you're drawing bad cards with 5 kids playing, after 2 or 4 hands, you're down a hundred bucks or so

I assume you want to operate it like Boiler Room? lol

I like to think I'm a decent Texas Hold 'em player and a good blackjack player.

playing the lotto is a suckers bet, its like a friend of mine said, playing the lotto is the only form of gambling where your odds of winning are the same weather you buy i ticket or dont buy a ticket "0" if you want to gamble take the money go to vegas put it down on the black jack table and let it ride, your odds of winning 25 hands in a row are much better than winning the lotto

Ken, we still have dry counties also.

I bet there are people on this site that do not even know what that means. Not because they're stupid but because they live in a state that realizes it's not the 1920's anymore.

"Down here we all vote no to the lottery then we all drive to the state line when a big pot happens. "

That's like Texas: they have dry counties, but always vote in a wet sheriff.

Ummm, $6.25 an hour at 100 hours a week.... wouldn't that be $625 before taxes? Math doesn't work.... ;)

I'll get one every once in a while when I go over to Georgia. I live in Alabama. Down here we all vote no to the lottery then we all drive to the state line when a big pot happens.
Go figure.

There used to be a guy on this site who said he won the money to buy his 360 Spider in a poker tournament in Las Vegas.

I buy em local as I figure $104 a year won't kill me, but a million could sure help!

I also buy 1 when I travel as it seems some out of towner just passing through always wins..might as well be me.

The sad part is when some working joe spends half his paycheck at 7-11 and won't/can't pay his phone bill or feed his kids. Sad.

i used to work at a gas station for $6.25 an hour; worked in excess of 100 hours a week; i was bringing home over $800 a week, after taxes... i can distinctly recall one night, after work, going out to buy those scratch off lottery tickets... $350 later, i won maybe $75... This was a ritual that, DESpite the loss i took, EVERY TIME, i continued... i'm pretty sure it was a mild to moderate addiction... i rarely buy them, now...

In certain cases, playing the lotto is actually a smart bet. If the dollar amount of the jackpot is higher that the odds of winning it is, then it does make sense to buy lottery tickets. At least thats how I justify it when I buy lotto tickets ;o)

I was more motivated to buy lotto tickets when I was dirt poor in high school. Now every once in a while I'll buy 10 consecutive picks for $10, with 2 drawings a week it lasts 5 weeks and I don't check the ticket until it's done. You have to play to win.

I like to play black jack, but especially poker, played on a regular basis from about 12 years old through college.

After reading Bruno's post in this thread:

http://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/21/211311.html?1046717855

I wonder how many Ferrari owners here buy weekly lottery tickets? How many go and play in Vegas? Who here have what they have because of a lottery?...

I admit it, I buy lotto tickets. I also buy the ones organised by the local hospitals, at least these go to a good cause. I've played at casinos, but I find them boring...

My Ferrari is the result of my own, hard-earned money, but it would be nice to have more!
