Go with a Canon S230, take great pics, movies, and is really small. Plus Canon makes quality, durable cameras. Should be around $400.

Oh oh, there's the new Ferrari branded Fila Digital 440.

It's called that because if you take the last two digits "40" multiple by 10 and subtract 100 you get 300, which is the number of megabytes it stores and of course the first 4 always stands for the times zoom divided by 10, which is the mega pixels.

It's really quite the high performance digital camera at 40 zoom, 300 Mb, and 10 mega pixels. More power than anything else on the market, although the zoom is very slow to begin with to adjust, preferred method is to get it moving and then you can zoom the heck out of it. A few test users even experienced what's referred to by USB as "Zoom burn". If taking pictures next to your Sony or American camera friends, don't even try to compete with their zooms from a stand still. Sucker them into a rolling zoom. Anyways, the internals are all Ferrari made, but they get Germans to put them together and the Japanese to design the outer casing. Photo quality is sometimes compromised by gawkers that ruin your natural setting, but women have also been known to just have the uncontrollable urge to flash themselves for your "flash". The coincidence goes hand and hand, you actually have proof you were flashed. Maintenance is a little more intense if you use regularly to replace your old camera. Most keep their old camera and use on most occasions. Services aren't that frequent if compared to actual usage, but be sure to change the zoomer belt as if one breaks it will be hell to pay getting the zoomer to work again. It's also been reported that the power source has been known to leak, but that's accepted and well documented in the owners manual, so that makes it OK. Retail price is of course very high, but make sure to get from a dealer as open market price will even be higher. Don't buy the Euro version cameras as their batteries have been know to explode and cause injury when recharging if not properly converted to the USA model, at least that's what my camera dealer said. To help counter the high price of the top end model and to generate more sales under the table they have the new Dino branded Fila Digital 440. It's $100 less and for $1 the company ("Ferrari" Shhhh!) has produced the same quantity of new label plates with the name Ferrari on it so you can still get flashed with your flash.

It costs a little more but it's worth it: Canon Powershot G2 (about $460 if you shop around)

Disclaimer in my part:

Camera is my wifes. These are her opinions. I've used it once, and I had to fight her for it. She loves the thing.

Just picked up the Casio Exilim. It is no bigger than a credit card, and for my purposes takes nice digital photos. Costs about $299. They are coming out with a 3.2 mega-pix version in April.

Canon S320. I think that's the model. It's a 3.2 megapixel and it's pretty small too. I used to have an olympus and was happy with it. It was just too big. My brother has a Sony and he regrets buying it after seeing my wife's Canon. He paid a lot more for it and it has features he doesn't like. The macro feature for taking pictures up close is not very good in the Sony.

So many good cameras out there you really can't go too wrong though.

Olympus is very easy to use. Great editing software for working on your photos once you get them into the computer. Also takes great looking shots.

I bought a Canon Elph last year. I love it. The newest model has more features and is priced around $399 I think. Easy to use, fits in pants pocket easy and very nice pics.
