About the Bentley... James you are right. It is EXTREMELY low to the ground. I sat in one when it was in the Monterey Historics and Bentley was the featured marque a couple of years ago (that was the day I got engaged to my wife!). It's one hell of a view from in there too. I couldn't imagine whipping the thing around the track for such a prolonged period of time. It's very intimidating. That was also the year that Bentley returned to LM and came in third. Cheers |

firstly, i have never found f1 uninteresting, but i am a bit of a car nut! but i don't know that there is any one thing that can be done to improve viewer numbers. i don't think going backwards, like eliminating downforce, fits the image and raison d'etre of f1 to be the pinnacle of motorsport. i had dinner w/ max mosley (alright we weren't alone there were a few dozen other people there), and we quizzed him on all these issues. some of his ideas were pretty wacked, but some like the banzai lap, and the grooved tires, are admittedly somewhat good at engineering results the way he would like to see them (that is the key point here). personally, i think we should leave the car rules alone for a while, but allow the really hairy course of years past to be run without trying to dumb them down. i am pro safety, but at the end of the day, these are the worlds best drivers in the worlds best cars, so why can't they run on the worlds hardest courses? undo the changes at aqua minerale, put back the long straight into the woods at hockenheim, put spa back on the agenda and don't touch eau rouge; hell! even bring back the original nordschleife ! etc |

Ross Do you think simply limiting down force would work and keep it more interesting? |

i hear ya ! the new rules have taken away the significance of pole. the one lap banzai would be great if they were allowed to refuel before the race. but this is just a crap shoot of headline grabbers coasting back to pits on fumes. |

Mr. G., the Bentley looks great in person, i could kick myself for not having taken better shots of it; i wish i could've been there after the show was closed so i could "be alone with the cars"... The Audi looks great, too - i believe it was at last year's auto show, as well... Have you ever driven either one of these cars...? |

Des That Bentley is so low that your butt is lower than your feet. F1 cars are like that. It did very well at Sebring, (Unlike the Lambo's or the Pagoni) and have a real chance for 1OA at LeMans. (fuel consumption, cockpit heat, and tire wear are concerns). The Audi's at LeMans this year will not be factory but they will still be very fast. It's cool to see those cars in the metal or carbon as it were. Best Jim |

Move you up in line...? Sh!t, they might put at the front of the line and give you the car under sticker, with a complementary EB110 as a spare car... Did i tell you what happened when i mentioned Jim's name in the grocery store...? |

Jim, the teste/hurt thing was my weak attempt at humor. As for the interior, the car was roped off and, to be honest, I was distracted by the vintage Italian machinery all around me. Here are some recent photos I found on the Web (site states they were taken in 2002): http://www.allsportauto.com/english/modules.php?name=Sportphoto&zl_idMD=794 I assume that's the shifter on the console.

Taek As far as I could figure out above 20MPH it lowers down which made avoiding stuff hard. (ENZO) Des So far I've not come across anyone who has or any discripition of the car at speed. That said as VW showed with their LeMans winning Audi's and their beautiful Bentley race car, (Did you see the one at the NY show?) they can build quite a car. Ralph It won't hurt... Best Jim |

James, The Enzo didn't have a ride height control or sensor for low speed driving? Seems like a rip off, especially when the car is as inconvenient as you mention. Must be nice on a track thought . |

Wayne Tyler is correct. How was the interior? Was gearchange on paddles or in center? It does seems to be quite something but before you buy something like thiw you must drive one. The Enzo is amazing but I found it to be much more of a track car than something usable on the street. It is very very stiff, very low, less ground clearance than my MK-IV, and with longer front overhang (distance from center of front wheel to underside tip of nose) even in raised position way to low for potholes, speed bumps, and driveways. Dan, Jim, there was a Veyron on display at the Concorso in Carmel last August. It is even more impressive in the flesh than on paper. One question, though: Dan says he would part with a teste and Jim's response is, "It wouldn't hurt?" |

It wouldn't hurt... The one thing I couldn't figure out was the gearchange. It has a 7speed F1 type box but it seemed to have a center gear shift. After using the paddles in my Maser I'd bet that would be better. I hate to take my hands off the wheel above 200. It does look beautiful although I liked the exterior better than the interior. They'll have one at Pebble so I'll get to check it out. These cars always look different in the metal than in pics. One that may be very nice as well is the Enzo based Maser. Nice Maser interior, more retro exterior. Choices... Choices... |

ROTFL - who else could we expect to have the right answer to that question...? Can he mention your name, Mr. G....? i just read an article about the new Veyron (i've been awaiting it's release for a while, now) and it is one sweet car... The 7 figure price tag on it is a bit steep, but i'm imagining that it would be well worth it... Bugatti claims top speed of something like 253mph - but no factual testing has confirmed that... i'd part with a teste to drive one of those things... Anyone have any info on the new EB110 or EB112...? |

Not that I can afford it, but there are no Bugatti retailers I know of. Just interested in how an order like that would take place. |
