Jason, the videos I have are all from BMWM5.com There is a whole section devoted to the Gumball Rally. There you will find that video, along with others. The two kids in the Supra were a little obsessive over chasing the GT2, but you can see it for yourself. www.bmwm5.com

See my post in the link below about building a track supra.

Great bank for the buck and is the reason why I own one. There are many other more beautiful cars I would like to add into my garage (360 included) as time goes by but the supra is never leaving as there is no other car like it in the world. With about $1200 in mods and some race gas I dynoed 430 horsepower to the rear wheels. I pull on stock 996TT's, 360's,and yes even a stock GT2 in the straights (proved that one last week rolling down PCH). Just can't beat the bang for the buck hence the reason why low milage supra's from 5 years ago sell for the same price they stickered on show rooms and why fairly rough high milage ones sell for the mid high 20's. Since they only made something like 6000 turbos these cars get a ton of attention as well due to their low production numbers and fame in the street racing world.

He drove the SL55 in last year's rally. As per my memory, he was banned from three states, and fined about $10,000.

Greg,

This is the first I've heard of this Supra chasing down Lonman, do you happen to have a video or is it posted on a forum somewhere?

I had my supra running 800rwhp before I sold it. Mid 10's and high 130 mph in the 1/4 mile. No NOS. Abosulutely awesome to drive, and super reliable. A lot slower than my 360, but guess which one I kept?

I had a twin turbo Supra last year.. great fun for not a lot of money. There are plenty of them putting down 800, 900, and over 1000 hp to the wheels. It's not all that difficult actually. Big turbo, upgraded fuel system, few electronic goodies, and lots of tuning time on a dyno. There's a list on www.supraforums.com of the top 50 drag racing supras... all but maybe 3 or 4 are street driven cars, and think that out of the top 50, almost 30 are running in the 9s at 140-160mph.. a few are even in the high 8 second range. Not to mention that the real strength of the car is its handling.....Anyway, check out www.t04r.com for a few of the really nice ones.

Some of the numerical specs for a stock Supra are 0-60 in about 4.6 to 5 seconds depending on which magazine you read, .98 G's on the skidpad, 60-0 in 109ft, etc... Fun car for 20-30k. Just ignore the ones with the bodykits designed by japanese cartoonists :-)

I have seen a mpeg of a twin turbo late model Supra that put down 800+HP to the rear wheels. That equals "pretty friggin fast" :-) The TT models were already pretty impressive stock.

I saw some of the videos from the new Gumball Rally that took place a few weeks ago. They looked awesome. There were some really rare cars in the pack, including an F50, a Koeningseg CC, and some RUF porsches, and a GT2. Lonman (GT2 owner and driver) did some wild stuff along the way. But what I couldn't understand was that a few kids in a Toyota Supra waited for the Rallyists to pass, and chased lonman on a 170MPH spree throught US highways, they seemed to be keeping up, until they ran out of gas. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, how fast is a Toyota Supra!!!!!!!!
