One of my Pantera buddies over in Europe captured a spy pic that appeared recently in Autoweek. Just go to www.autoweek.com and do a search on Gallardo and the first result returned will have a couple of those spy pics. |

Michael, the pictures of the Gallardo on the track, with the Murcielago behind it are nice, but it looks like it's got alot of excess crap all over it... Is there an available picture of what it will like, after production...? |

Jeff, I'm sure it is just a matter of time before Lambo makes a Gallardo roadster. However, we might have a prototype of a Murcielago Roadster at the Detroit show. |

Any chance this new Lambo will be available in roadster form? How was the waiting list compare to Ferrari? Is it basically the same politics or are there less people waiting for this car? |

Alan You would probably enjoy a three day track course. Bob Bondurant offers one near you. A friend took it and enjoyed it very much. I met Bob at Goodwood and he and his wife were very nice. When Peter Lavonos owned my MK-IV he and Sterling Moss drove it for him on the vintage circuit. Best Jim |

James in the race driving you definately have me beat, i like to drive fast cars, but a race car driver i am not. As a matter of fact we had my Porsche out at a Porsche club event. I went out with a friend of mine, who owned a similar car, and was a regular on the tracks. I was trying to follow his instructions and after one flat out blast through "s" type kink, i pulled into the pits, got out and told him to take the car and have fun. For me, as a track car, it was much to much. Id have more fun in a stock Nsx. |

Des I'm referring to 3 of my cars. 1967 FORD MK-IV 1967 FERRARI P4 !967 Lola T70. Search and read. There are many good books about these times as well as pics and info on my cars on this forum. I drive my cars all the time and yes you can feel and see their history. (The dent caused by McLaren's helmut when he threw it down and chased after the tail section which had blown off at LeMans is still in the tub.) If you check out the pic of my MK-IV in the pits prior to the start of the 67 LeMans race in the P4 Photos thread you'll get a sense of what this is all about. Tim & Des Check out Mark Donohue's "Unfair Advantage" for details. Best Jim |

Damn, 1800hp in an 1800lb car? that car must be hard to drive, but a thrill to drive. How did they get so much power out of it? |

So the car you now own won all those things you mentioned, below, by the drivers you mentioned...? Do you ever take it to the track, yourself, to feel what sounds like, a very deep history, for yourself...? i couldn't even begin to imagine what type of ride that must... Congratulations on owning such a marvelous automobile... As far as Allan is concerned with fast not being fast enough, i'm in agreement... i can recall a time when cruising at 90 or 100 was enough to pacify me, however that time is long gone and my crave, my thirst, my fist-clinching-spine-tingling urge to go faster surges through me- um, i think we'd all like to hear more about your car... |

Des Better drivers, such as Donohue,McLaren,Amon, Bandini, and Meyers, than most of us will ever be did many years ago in the cars I'm now lucky enough to own. Alan is following in a long tradition for whom fast was not fast enough. That's what turns great cars into greater cars. When the engineers at Porsche asked Donohue how much HP was enough he replied "Enough to keep the tires spinning at the end of the longest straight there is." Thats the one to shoot for. Porsche 917-30 1800HP 1800Lbs The car was so fast that it ended the CanAm. No one else could compete. Best |

Perhaps you should enter it in the 24 hours of LeMans then. Some other things you could try: Winning the 24 Hours of Daytona, winning 3 CanAm races, being SCCA A sports racing champion for three years running, setting a record at the Mt. Equinox hillclimb that has never been broken... (Believe me,I realize, owning these pieces of history, in no way makes me anything but lucky.) |

Price is expected to be about $180,000. Allan is right; performance is about equal to Murci all the way to 150mph, then the Murci pulls away at a quicker rate. Top speed of Gallardo is around 190mph. I would think that the Gallardo will handle fantastic becasue it will weigh about 3100lbs. A little smaller in size than the Murci. 500HP + 3100LBS = |

No performance numbers available yet, although i have heard the Gallardo is reportedly as-fast as a Murcielago to 150mph. |

Michael, How does the new Gallardo compare with the Diablo or Murcielago in terms of performance? The Diable 6.0 SE has 5992 c.c,.V12, producing 550 HP. 0-100 km/h = 3.95 sec. The Murcie has 6193 c.c., V12, producing 580 HP. 0-100 km/h - 3.8 sec. Just wondered. |

LOL, Pat, you're right... Michael, i was in receipt of very little information on the L140 late last year and then recently, i read another article about it... is it official that the name will be Gallardo...? Yes, i'm extremely pleased that Lamnorghini is releasing yet another model, however, i'm skeptical as to whether this model will appeal to me as much as the Diablo... i'm not too happy that production on the Diablo was discontinued, so my expectations of the new baby Lambo are very high... Please email me with any further information you are able to furnish as i'd be very happy to find out everything there is to know... Michael, thanks again... |

Aluminum construction, 500HP 5-liter V-10, four-wheel drive, 6-speed traditional stick or sequential "E-Gear" with shift paddles. Production has already begun. Official debut at Geneva show in March.
