Eric, the phone modules work in Singapore because it uses the same network frequency as Europe. But at the end of the day, I find it easy to use my mobile. The stock sound system is great though.
U won't believe this but i am tempted to put on a Tubi despite my 3200 experience. I was told its alot quieter....hmmmmm

Lung. On the 02 models in the US, the phone module does not work. Not sure if they fixed it for 2003 or not...

Does anyone use the phone module in the car? or do you just stick with your mobile phone.

Congratulations Lung.

Keep us posted about your experiences - I may be tempted.

See my post about my recent trip and the ECU changes I told you about.

ok...took delivery yesterday...
1. Drove it Kuala Lumpur from Singapore
2. 350km distance
3. Superb touque compared to my 3200GT (Alex you gotta check it out!!)
4. Engine/exhaust note is deep, throaty, and meaty.
5. Gotta get use to the F1 pedals...but I could see I was improving the shifting by this evening.
6. Really enjoying it so far...
7. Photos to follow soon....

Had a Spyder for 4 months as a daily driver. Perhaps it is colder here in the Pacific Northwest, but I did notice that shifts during the first 1-2 minutes of operation were a bit jerkier. When warm, the shifts were in general smooth. Almost never used the auto mode. I disliked the lack of cupholders, but dealt with it.

Have fun with your new ride.

I picked up my April production 2003 GT Coupe Camiocorsa in June & have racked up 5500 miles since then. Regarding the questions:

1. I haven't noticed the trasmission getting smoother as the car warms up.

2.I use the F1 mode nearly all the time & only resprt to auto mode when traffic is REALLY bad.

3. I can live without cupholders-- no big deal.

4. I haven't trid the golf bag but maserati offers its own brand golf bags that are designed to fit. I've found that a large duffle fits fine in the trunk together with my computer bag. This has been enough carying capacity for long trips for to people.

In terms of shifting technique, I've found behaviour varies according to mode (sport or not) and revs. In regular mode, at lower revs I get very smooth shifts if I feather the accelerator slightly-- you can hardly tell there has been a shift. At higher revs, I find that this isn't necessary at all. In sport mode I don't feather the accelrator at all.

It's been some time since I posted on these forums, but I always like to help. I do not use my car as a daily driver, so my input may be of limited use to you.

1: I notice no real difference in cold vs warm driving
2: I use F1 (sport) almost exclusively.
3: I am all for the "driving experience" but cupholders on a 4+ hour leg would be very convenient. The large gas tank makes for very long periods between refreshments. A minor nitpick however, and there are plenty of workarounds.
4: I cannot confirm/deny the Maserati claim

Hope this helps...

Yes I do. This is why I think they're nuts not to offer a full auto in the quattroporte. The cars the quattroporte will compete with BMW, Mercedes, Bentley all offer great auto boxes.
Too bad about the maps. Do you know how they program them? They have someone drive every road with a gps receiver!

Jim,
There is a nav GPS system but no maps of Singapore or Malaysia...so its as good as no Nav. But then again, Singapore is so small u don't need a GPS.
Do u find when in auto mode, the car is a little jerky when starting off?

The F1 in my 02 seems fine even when cold. I don't lift and I don't think you should as the computer lifts for you and I think you don't have to. I use F1 all the time. I also use sport mode except on bumpy roads. Don't know about golf clubs but my guitar fits in trunk. The nav system works really well. Will your car have one?
Best

I am at it again...
I test drove two 4200 yesterday. A late 2001 and a 2003 model.

The earlier model's transmission felt and sounded rougher compared to the latter. The gear changes also felt different between the two. The latter smoother. The dead pedal was different on both cars. The 2001 was closer towards the driver which meant that my knee was bent quite abit. The seats were much more wrapped around and more comfortable compared to the 3200GT. The height adjustment was also better i.e. the seat could go lower. Both cars had similar milage on them, both about 3700 miles. Both cars had their software upgraded.

I felt when in auto mode, the 3200GT was way superior given that it has a full auto transmission. Both the 4200 had a "surging" and "jerky" response at lower revs and speed. Gear changes in auto mode was very very noticable. But changes were not as deliberate in the 2003 model. Comments Please???

F1 mode...took me a couple of minutes to readjust, its been a year since I last used F1 shift. Anyway, gone was the "clunk" sound when I changed gears, maybe because of the software upgrade. It appeared that the shifting got smoother as the car warmed up? Is this rite? or was it my imagination. It was also smoother when I lifted the throttle a little during upshifting, that helped alot. It was fun.

Comments please....
1. Does the shifting get smoother when the car warms up?
2. Do you guys use the auto mode or F1 for day to day driving?
3. Do u guys hate the fact that it doesn't have cupholders?
4. Can anyone confirm that a full golf bag with a 45inch driver can go into the trunk? The trunk looks like a couple of inches shorter than the 3200GT.

Regardless of what u guys say...I have already submitted the papers for transfer of the 2003 model to my name. It should be ready by the time I am back from Hawaii... "Pe no meli iki boh boh!" :-)
