Here's the deal as I understand it. Compliance is based upon what county your tags are purchased in. Harris coun ty as well as adjacent counties (Galveston, Ft. Bend, Waller) have a solid bar underscoring the bar cade on your license plate sticker. Once you purchase plates in one of these counties, you must pass emissions criteria there. No one will inspect a car with this bar even away from metro areas. The answer? Be careful where you update plates. IMO it won't be long before standards are statewide. Harris county fails federal standards for air quality, and has for years. Better keep that LA address!!! |

Hmmmm...it could. Houston has yearly inspections. You might find a station that won't know the difference, as long as it meets the numbers 82-newer = max = 1.2% CO -- 220ppm HC at idle and 2500 for 90 seconds...IM 240 Test Phase II...Dyno tested. |

I have recently been offered a job in Houston and currently do not have any emission parts (cats. etc.) on my 84 308. We do not have emission testing in New Orleans and I was wondering if this will pose a problem regisitering the car in Houston |
