Dear Guys, I really enjoyed the Karting Event Tuesday night. Great group of guys, great cars to look at, and even a few bruises from minor rubbing. My wife thought for sure we had gone to a Gentleman's Establishment, so I showed her my bruises to convince her otherwise, and then she accused me of going to a full contact Gentleman's Club. You just can't win. Luckily, the pictures on the F-Chat supported my story. I am looking forward to the next event!!! |

Tillman, I swapped cars in the second round on the long track. I don't recall seeing any timing for me for the second car. It would have been obvious, because I had few decent laps, and then something seized up for the remainder of the race. When you get all the final results tallied, I'll be glad to bring in my trophy for the rightful fastguy. And now, on to the pics:

Round Two of the Spring 2003 Karting Challenge was great fun, coupled with annoying timing glitches. We'll focus on the fun first First, welcome to our new participants! We had a fairly light crowd of 12 people, but we had two new people come out to play: John G, a lurker here on Fchat, and Jano's brother James. Greg showed up as well to watch the fun. There were 6 Ferraris this time: grigio 328 GTS, blue 348 spyder, white 328 GTS, black 308 GTS, black 360 coupe, and a red Testarossa. A very nice selection of cars, and thanks to all who could bring one out. Hopefully someone got pictures in the garage, because I didn't get a chance. The karts are still deteriorating, but hope is on the horizon. I was speaking with the manager, and TBC is converting to gas powered karts within the next few months. According to him, the new karts will be lighter and more responsive, and TBC will be able to keep more of them in stock and running. All in all I had a good time, and I hope everyone else did also. Now to the racing. The races seemed to be competitive, but it was hard to tell with a number of timing and transponder errors. To complicate the matter, the last two results sheets we were given (including the final), were formatted incorrectly to rank based on total laps run rather than fast time. Unfortunately, that error wasn't caught until after the podium ceremony. The results of the Final were Rob L. first, Jim E. second and Chris F. third. Jim and Chris, email me please. The results below are UNOFFICIAL. I will be posting the PDFs of the scorecards later this week. I have tried to rank as best as I could based on my recollections of who switched cars, the timing listed on the scorecards, and discussions with people. If you are affected by any of the decisions made, please contact me via email and we will discuss the matter. After 1 week, I will be posting the official scores. I do apologize for these issues, and we hope that they will be resolved next time. There were 3 qualifying races due to timing issues on the first race. The best two results were used for qualifying points, so there are duplicates of positions in the 'Points Earned Round 2' chart. If there are other questions, please email me. Results Q1 1. Tillman, on the 2nd round of the Big track, I switched cars, I believe (and there was someone else who switched as well) that mine was the blank results with 2 times on it as opposed to the 1 lap on the other blank. Thanks. |

If you raced on Tuesday and swapped cars during a heat, please let me know. I need to know what heats you switched cars, and if you did so multiple times in the heat. Thanks T |

Well, the racing was fun and the company was excellent, but the timing blew big chunks. At this time I'm not even certain what the final results were. Stay tuned for a more lucid report sometime tomorrow. |

1 day away! Sean, the reason we run the points series on a weekday is to avoid interfering with everyone's weekend. However, we probably could arrange an informal weekend gathering some Saturday afternoon. |

I wish I could join you guys on this. How about a weekend race sometime? Lena just took me to TBC for the first time for part of my birthday present, and after three runs, I'm down to 36.9 on the long course. I'm ready to duke it out! |

Jim S, look on the bright side. When it's time to buy that Ferrari, you'll have the frequent flyer miles to be able to fly out and pick it up! |

I'm hopeful. I'm going to need to work out some childcare issues though. It gets harder if we keep racing until 10pm. |
