You're right about the cleaning of the track. I was running in the low 24's until they cleaned the track. Now I am in the low to mid 25's. Haven't been there is a while though. |

Kartzone periodically gets out and "cleans" the track, removing a lot of rubber and making it a lot slower. Comparing the posted times to times set on another day is futile. My kids were running 25s last Tuesday nite, a full second and a half slower than they have been at other times. |

OK here are some lap times for the Feb 20 (preliminary) series. This is the second race qualifying. To be fair to Grady Owens, he did much better in the other race not posted here, was second to Celeste by only .01 second in qualifying and weighs much more. Classification by best laptime: 01 Celeste Lap2 26.117 02 Steve Eqyed Lap3 26.656 03 Nick Broughton Lap3 26.759 04 Jeff Rowe Lap2 26.942 05 jason Broughton Lap2 27.005 06 David Opheim Lap3 27.007 07 Sam Dodson Lap2 27.157 08 John Kish Lap1 27.835 09 Darrell Hebert Lap1 27.987 10 Clinton Russell Lap3 28.123 11 Grady Owens Lap1 30.301 Steve Egyed has come second in all four offical races so far and probably leads the series. |

Wow!!! That's impressive! Condolences to Grady O. and the other guys. Ken, how far back were YOU? Listen, based upon this impressive result, I would like to invite Celeste (and Ken) to join the Ferrari Racing for Children kart team benefitting Child Advocates, at the Houston Children's Festival March 29, 30. Our team has a five year history at this event as well as the Texaco Grand Prix of Houston, raising $64,000.00 USD for the valuable work of Child Advocates here in Harris County, Texas. On a dark and stormy night, the erstwhile members of the Houston chapter of the South Central FCA gathered for some conviviality and a couple of warm-up races prior to the start of the series next week. One evil member asked if his wife, not a series entrant, could join in the fun. Here are the results: Ist Heat Qualifying - #1 Celeste, #2 Grady Owens (by 0.001 second) Ist Race - #1 Celeste, #2 11 other guys 2cnd Heat Qualifying - #1 Celeste, #2 11 other guys 2cnd Race - #1 Celeste, #2 11 other guys Picture of winner Celeste Broughton-Rentiers in an unidentified non-italian car. Asked if she had thought about participating in the series, the winner said: " Well I just had my nails done and those hats really mess my hair." |
