The weather is starting to turn a little sour so I figured the work on my car must be nearing completion. I talked to the mechanic yesterday and here is the update. Clutch coming along fine. No major surprises yet. Found a chrome shift ball with the Ferrari pattern embossed on it in black. Got floormats ordered, silver gray with a red prancing horse embroidered. Gonna see if that looks right in a silver car with black interior. Weather stripping is on order. May be here this week. Not gonna hold up the repair waiting on it. Not too sure about the car cover yet. So I might see the car again as soon as tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed. Go Texas. |

In the interest of increasing the post count in the Texas section I'll post my experiences with the shop I am using, Colvin Automotive in Austin. I chose them on a recommendation from my TR6 mechanic as to where to take my Rover. They did a great job on it (major tuneup and a variety of small jobs) and it ran better than it ever did (130K on the clock) when I picked it up. Colvin has a dedicated Ferrari mechanic (KC) that did the buyers inspection on my Mondial. He was EXTREMELY thorough and very honest about the commitment I was making. Because of him I felt very well prepared to purchase my car with the sense that I would be well supported in fixing it when it breaks. They quoted installation of a new clutch (Ferrari parts) at $1800 (not too bad in my estimation) and even went so far as to preorder the parts without a deposit as to have them available when I dropped off the car. The service and quality of work I have had from Colvin to date has been great. I will post more about my experiences as I have them and will wrap it up after I get my car back next week. Go Texas. |
