A whole new interior for the GT4 would be about $5200 or so. Less if you take it apart yourself. It really depends on how nice a paint job you do and how much body work.

Don't forget that their state income tax tops out around 11%, that it costs 2% of the value of your car to register it, that gas is $2.30 a gallon for 91 octane swill, and that the median and average home price is zillions of dollars.

I was just kiddin, I think FoD is cool with everything now, as far as I know. Tony, Risi, and James watch every move though. So does Ferrari of Italy, FCA Nats, FNA, and who knows who else. I don't know if all the attention is good or bad. I don't know if all the attetion makes us average owners look good or bad. I think Risi gets pretty ammused at some of our posts.

I told him of the run and sent him a flier so maybe he will join or knows somebody who will. I also stuck a flier on a 360 in my parking lot. gotta love that..come out and you have fliers under your wiper...at least not a pizza delivery one with a rubber band on it!

Does FoD not like me rob? your post made it sound that way. I think we are all coming around and most of the probs were misunderstandings on how each party was interpretting the others' actions.

That GT4 tempts me mightily....get it running, make it better as I can, have 2 Ferraris. The downside is, for $20k you can get a damn nice GT4, and it would be easy to go through $12,500 in 'restoration'.

Yeah, that's probably the better bet...I forgot about the other stops :-)

Or, I hear JimE's got a lead on a GT4 :-) :-)

Or, invite him to join us in one of the other cars he keeps around. He'd have 2 cars there to show us, meet a bunch of guys that have/will buy Ferraris, have a great time.

JimS,

Tell him you'll get a Lineback banner for the car (like Rob's Ferrarichat one) and see if he'll cut you a deal. There's nothing like getting the company name in front of your exact target market.

Just emailed him right now so we'll see. Not sure if they have other cars or just that one Fcar.

NObody likes having to pay the $135 to join FCA to ride with friends and I agree, but yes as it is a organized event under the umbrella of the FCA we need to secure insurance which is what the entry fees cover, but they only cover members.

Catch 22.

If you're not a member, and I'm not a member, I guess we have to join if we're going to make the run. At least, that's what Rob tells me. Insurance stuff I guess. Damn. How am I going to sneak that $135 by the wife?

Have you looked into the cost of the 355? I'd guess he has mileage limits, could get pricey fast.

I can ride with you, but I was actually thinking that I might rent that yellow 355 spider from Lineback for the run so could take the wife. Might not, btu a thought. I am not a fca memeber either! Costs $135 to join.

Tillman. as to the cost of living diffs. I lived in boston and it was hell. made $20K more when I mvoed up there which did come out ahead as I was in the burbs. But mvoed back here for about 5k less and actually make more due to no income tax house etc.

I was in san fran a few weeks ago and on news had a guy who transferred to vegas and they were showing his house in san fran vs vegas. $390K each approx adn in san fran it was a shack in a bad area with bad schools, no yard etc. in vegas it was a 3500 sq ft mediteranean stucco house in a very nice neighborhood.

Last weekend in March == NASCAR weekend, so that kind of knocks me out. Maybe early April?

(yes, I'm a redneck roundy-round toothless fan. No apologies. I like passing in my racing...)

Here's something interesting. I ran the cost-of-living calculator at http://businessweek.monstermoving.com/Find_a_Place/Relosmart/rs.asp to compare Ft. Worth and San Francisco's cost of living:

"In your federal, state local and FICA tax brackets, a loss of $68,057 in gross salary. So you need a raise of this much in the new city to just break even on this move due solely to the increase in the cost of living."

To heck with that. I'm staying here.

I do have a route, and I'm ready to try it any time. I'd guess it will take 3-4 hours total round trip, a little longer if we have lunch. Maybe we can squeeze it in in late March, give us some time before the poker run. Jim, are you going to ride w/ me on the run, or should I join the FCA?

Yup.

They're also having nicer weather, so they get those drives to discuss and recruit.

Maybe a monthly drive wouldn't be a bad thing here in DFW. Didn't you have a good route you wanted to try?

From www.census.gov

2001 Population-
CA-34,501,130
TX-21,325,018

Median Household income:
CA-$47,493
TX-$39,927

There are 50% more people there, and they make more money. Therefore, they can buy more Ferraris. If you have more Ferraris, you have more Ferrari chatters. This is the extent of my scientific analysis ability.
