Rob, The paintless dent repair guys will give you a by panel or by dent estimate. If it is by dent and they do not crease the metal or crack the paint, it is usually about $10 per dent. Get them to give you a by panel estimate also.

Man.. the DFW area is pretty crazy... I remember being out at my hotel last year, by the Texas Motor Speedway when there were tornado warnings and hail storms...All I could see in the distance was lightning storms... Seems DFW is in the middle of 3 major weather patterns... in one corner, hail like golf balls, the second corner, hail like baseballs, and the third, hail like softballs!! What the heck?!!! I was shocked!! |

Rob, I had at least 1,000 dings in my 94 Q45 and they gave me 5,900.00 to repair it. Jim we had flooding in our bedroom with this last hail storm and even though I did not have flood insurance Statefarm paid for the drying, carpet pad and cleaning. We also found out insurance will pay for having your pool cleaned if you are filing for other claims might as well add the pool. |

I don't know how, but I just noticed for the first time that my BMW got hail damage. My question is for a 1993 BMW 325is, what would the typical damage payment be? I have a $500 deductible, so I don't know if it's worth it. There's just about 50 little tiny dings on the car. |

Just FYI... State Farm has had 27,000 auto claims so far from the hail!

Hehe, well, it's always worth a shot anyway. I know what you mean about poor metal. It has been said that Panteras used wire-hangar scrap-metal! I don't know if this is true or not, but it wouldn't surprise me. |

Yep the hot summer day approach works fine on heavier metals. Unfortunately it does not work on the FIAT. Tried this in the past. The metal is to soft. It's that damm "commie Russian" Metal that was used by FIAT in the late 70s and early 80s. |

I'm telling you...try the hot summer day in the sun approach. You're all going to be waiting to get a PDR guy out to see you anyway. |

All my cars were inside, that is all but the FIAT. So I guess it's going to get another paint job. So I guess when I pick up the Maserati from Jano, I will drop off the FIAT to get painted and get it's dimples take out. The paintless dent repair only works well on newier cars with some space in the doors etc.

Sean, last time we had a big hail storm in DFW, my brother had people waiting 12 months to have their cars repaired by him. This storm was worse. I spoke with him yesterday and he's already had 200+ calls. He plans to take care of his existing customers first then work on the new ones. You can try to call him but he may not be able to get back to you for some time as he's a one-man-band. He does most of his work out of his house. The only people who like hail are roofers and PDR guys... my guess is that he's going to have a great year in 2003! 972.612.5000. |

Hey Bob, I think I may be calling your brother as well. We left my girlfriend's car at DFW over the weekend while we were away and she was quite upset to see about 10 good size dents in her otherwise perfect car. Where's his shop at? I'm going to be heading up past Plano on Friday. |

I was in Houston for the weekend and got to work this morning to find our building must have been pummeled. The building is of tilt wall construction and the oustide has stones imbedded in the concrete. The grounds are now completely littered with stones that I imagine the hail knocked off. Unbelievable. |

We just took very heavy rain and light hail. Fortunately, our neighborhood only had downed fences and some split trees. My swimming pool went from a beautiful blue to a nice greenish-brown color, but it's scheduled to be drained and replastered this ween anyway |

I feel you guys...Friday My Fiance' and I went to the store and picked a cake up for my sister visting from NYC and when we came out someone backed into her car and did not leave a note. Then Saturday her car was nailed by the hail: hood, roof, bumbers, and trunk! Not a good weekend to say the least. |

How do I determine if my house roof needs repair? It has compostite shingles and there are a few bald spots and the gutters had tons of grit/gravel in them. I guess I can just call my insurance, but wondered if I needed to have it inspected etc. |

What a day I've had. My Yukon got hit on the hood, the top, and the driver side. My redwood siding on the east side of the house is trashed. My redwood deck is trashed. I've got 2 busted skylights, was fortunate they're not broken all the way through. My 4 yr old AC unit looks like somebody took a ball peen to the cooling vents. Going to be a long week. |

For any of you that received hail damage on your cars, before you run out and spend money (or even your insurance claim check) to get those dents and dings fixed, you might want to consider another alternative. My Dad taught me this trick. Take the car and park it under the direct sunlight on a hot day. You'll be amazed how many, if not all of those little dings pop themselves back out. My father once advised a lady this, even as he cut her a check as her insurance adjuster. He bumped into her a few weeks later and she was thrilled to tell him that she took his advice, kept the check for herself, and all the dents popped back to normal in the hot sun. |

Jim, sorry to hear about the flooding... damn! The primary benefit of PDR is you get the car fixed without having to repaint it. If your paint is not in good shape, settle with your insurance company and take it to a body shop for some bondo and a respray. Good luck with both! |

i pulled up the carpet and pad in the hallway and just threw it out. Will get it replaced. Crisis averted. Gotta get the car fixed. Hundreds of dents on hood, roof, trunk and even the fenders. Some are on the creases of the body shape. Can a dent/ding guy get those out or do I need a body shop repaint? Car could use a respray so don't mind getting it painted. Jano....we need to talk! |

Jim, if your pad is soaked, go buy new pad. It's only about $1.50 s/f so is reasonable inexpensive. Getting your carpet dry is the most important. |

Thanks for the post Bob. I was wondering who to call. I was also out in Addison last night when the first part came through. The noise of the rain and hail on the roof was unbelieveable. When it was calmer we left and headed back to my apartment in Richardson to get the car in the garage. Unfortunately, around the apartment the hail was like snow and included larger than what I saw in Addison - quarter to golf ball size. I was lucky and only have one dent on the hood, near where the hood is sculpted so guess a weaker point. I was really impressed that the SAAB came out virtually undamaged. I winced everytime I heard a loud pop on the roof. My friends that were in town had a rental Intrepid parked at my apartment and it was not so lucky. Like Jim E, too many dents to count, and a bent antenna. |

We really took a pounding last night too... had marble to quarter size hail with a few golf balls thrown in for sport. And it wouldn't let up. I just wonder what our roof looks like??? This morning, our pool water is the same color as Lake Lavon. Advertisement: For you guys in the North Dallas area who took hail damage on your cars: Auto Dents & Dings.... 972.612.5000. This is the best PDR guy in Dallas, 10+ years experience and he happens to be my brother. |

Get things dry ASAP... pull up the carpet... move furniture off the carpet... turn on fans, etc. As long as you don't leave it wet for days, you should be fine... but keep in mind you have a big sponge under there (the carpet pad)... so you have to get to it and get it dry. If you aren't just wet, but have standing water, you'll need to suck it out. If you don't have a strong wet-vac, give ServPro or similar company a call.

my honda is beat to ..hundreds of dents in the hood as I sat in the Improv in Addison. Came home to a soaked front entry way and all my carpet is wet. No flood insurance so will have to eat that. Don't want black mold. Any suggestions? |

Where I am the hail was "only" about half-golf-ball-size... but the hail continued on and on... longest hail dumping I've seen. Glad we decided to skip Godspell and watch the UT game and F1 replay instead... and glad all my cars have garages... I can't even imagine what an aluminum Ferrari would look like after that. Hope all are well. |

I was at a party in Bent Tree, the people we rode with had a car that got beat to hell. I can't count the dents. Not sure if my YukonXL survived, won't know until tomorrow. Hail larger than golf balls where I was. |

We are taking a bunch of pea sized hail in Plano. Hope no bigger hail comes along. Lucky for me I already have the Maserati @ Jano's shop. Hopefully ahead of any hail damaged cars. |

Just checked and everything is fine, must sound much worse when you're inside and the house is shaking, windows and the roof are getting nailed. Just lost most of the new leaves that have appeared on the trees the past few weeks. Several branches down, but the horse and even the BMW that was in the middle of it are fine. Hopefully everyone else is fine too, I think the whirly things went North of us. |

I hope the Ferrari is OK. I can't get the TV as my satelite is out, but last I saw there were Tornados in N. Tarrant and Dallas counties. It's been hailing here about 30 minutes so far and the past 5 minutes the hail got really big. Once it stops I'll go survey the damage. |
