Hey Mitch, you ever notice how much stuff on a racecar is cheap black Bakelite-looking plastic? About the same amount that's chromed. Besides, we aren't talking about chrome here. Its polished aluminum. I don't know who's idea it was to cap off the shiny shiftgate and stalk with a dull miniature 8-ball but I think it was a total mistake. On an older Ferrari the stock knob is the only thing that detracts from the elegance of the car more than the mismatched fonts on the switchgear. |

Mitch, they're not chrome, they're polished aluminum. The shift gate on my car is chrome. I bought it from team voodoo as per a thread on the board. I think the site is www.teamvoodoo.com. |

"You can't pass up the improvement in the look." I seriously dislike chromed most anything (except on 1950s-1960s automobiles where it is both appropriate and original). Ever notice how much stuff on a real race car is chromed? Almost nothing! |

Mine gets no hotter than the steering wheel. I suspect it might be different if it was chromed steel instead of aluminum. You can't pass up the improvement in the look. |

Down here in Texas, it does get hot! But I tend to spend less than 1 second per shift, so the heat transfered into my hand is neglegible. In addition, the windows are up and the A/C running. |

Matt, I really try to adhere to, "If you have nothing good to say, don't say anything at all". Sometimes I slip. But this Allan Fiedler guy is something else. Now back to those high performance shift knobs! |

Bob, Look at the last page of the "Allan Fielder book of Performance 0-100-0 1/2 mile driving" It's listed right there at the middle of page one(did you get the joke?), "if it's aftermarket, it will add 100HP to your car. 200HP if it's a lamborghini" |

Bob, come drive my car, you can answer your own question. Best $40 I've put in my car yet. It sure feels faster! |

How do these titanium/aluminum/carbon fiber shift knob things make the car better again??? When combined with a K&N and Tubi, do they increase the 328's hp by 20%... or do they make the car 14 ounces lighter decreasing the quarter mile numbers by a hundreth of a second down to 14.7 ??? |

Of course I still like it! It doesn't mean it doesn't get hot, but I don't usually park my car in the sun either. Besides, if you're going to have a pattern engraved in your hand, what better pattern to have? |

Now that it's sunny and 100 degrees, do you still like them? I've thought about changing to one, but having the shift pattern engraved in my hand like something from Indiana Jones doesn't appeal |
