Greg, the XJ Sport is the same car as the XJR minus the engine. It has the same suspension, wheels, trim, etc. The newer model XJR's actually have different wheels and the Sport has my wheels.

Dave-That's ok..I liked the graphic anyway. Jim, the wheels fooled me on your car, aren't those the XJR wheels? I wanted the '98 XJR to get the V8. My XJR is in the shop, needed oxygen sensors. They wanted $580 a peice but johnscars.com had them for $160. It takes 4...that was another reason i was going to trade.

Well, the bad news is the car is an XJ Sport, not an XJR. I only have 290hp. :-( But its my cruiser, not my sports car. The V8 in this car is a vast improvement over the straight six in the last one.

Greg, check out www.texas-cars.com . I've bought both of my cars there, he sells them essentially wholesale. I priced my car then looked nationwide for another one like it, he was $5-8k cheaper than everyone else and he gave me $3k more on my trade than the best offer I got from any other dealer. He has a 95XJR on his lot now for $13k, so you can pretty much figure what he'll try to sell yours for.

Dave, wrong Greg! 'Monica' Greg doesn't post here much, he's computer/technology illiterate. Part of his charm.

Nice! Wow 380HP? That thing must haul. My mother in law has a 98 jag. she wants a new one, but doesn't like the new look. I think the rears are shorter or something...haven't seen one up close. Is that true?

Rob-To answer your question. 0-60 in 5.4. At 370 horsepower, the supercharged V8 makes the XJR the most powerful series production sedan Jaguar has ever made. The engine develops a breathtaking 387 pound-feet of torque, fully available from just 3600 rpm. At only 1600 rpm, the supercharged engine is already producing more torque than the naturally aspirated engine at its peak. Jaguar engineers chose supercharging rather than turbocharging because it provides immediate response to throttle openings and achieves high boost at low- to mid-engine speeds.

Jim-Its not being in a rut, its when you know a good thing you stick with it. I have a '95 XJR and was going to trade it in for a '98 XJR a couple weeks ago but the dealer was going to give me about half of wholesale price for mine. I think the XJR is the best bang for the buck out there. They are fast, comfortable, and the AC is great.

The XJR used to be the fastest sedan available, back a couple years ago. I tried to get my dad to buy one, so I could drive it, but he went for the huge truck instead (we're in Texas).

Rob,
The new one is a XJR (supercharged), the old one is a normal XJ8.
