Most, if not all of the problems I've seen with karts had been there awhile. Remember too that the karts had hardly been run that day even when we showed up at 7pm. They're not that busy on a week day. If you looked at the top times of day there were usually less than a dozen times total.

Jim, you go to the TBC school of management?

Maybe some of the defects occur during use so a 1 time check would miss them. Drivers ramming in the corners and rubbing is what causes those problems.

I would do a quick check as you say, but I bet they feel that if they get no complaints on the cars that they are operational. Sqeaky wheel gets the grease mentality.

as for the charging of the carts....don't know other than to stage them better.

The only thing that needs to be checked between each race is to be sure it's charged. Everything else can be checked once a day. All they need to do is drive it around one lap and that's it. If problems, send it to the mechanic. That's about as simple as it gets, but no karting place I've ever been to, except maybe Speedzone, has even just those basics covered.

You're telling me Jim and Jim that if you ran this place you wouldn't do at least that?

Also, I saw on a U Haul truck the other day that moving/packing materials should NEVER be used to play painful practical jokes. Watch out Rob!!!

Duct tape can, however, be used as a lint brush on your Armani, in a pinch.

You guys need to hop a bus to Houston and try out Davy Jones Kartzone. Mr. Jones, a Lemans winner, has joined the supporters of our Child Advocates
Racing for Children event and turns out to be a very gracious, low key guy. His facility here is expensive but first class, and located close to FoH.

Some Fchat guys here in H-town like it there.

How would you suggest they spot check those items between runs? Can't YOU check for flat tires, damaged steering, missing battery covers just as well as they can? Timing devices won't be noted until they don't work.

I agree it is very frustrating to pay money to get a bum cart. I imagine they will credit you a run, but that doesn't really help in points standings. Hopefully the law of averages works out for everyone involved.

As JimE stated they are just gocarts and are operated for fun/profit not for full blown, organized competition.

Didn't we pay about $1 a minute on Coit also? They had their issues too. That's the most mis-matched bunch of carts I've ever seen. I think the point is, they're go karts, not F1 cars. Our expectations need to be based on that.

That's ridiculous Jim Schad to think for $1 a minute we can't get a kart that has had some basic operational elements gone over, like...

1) No flat tires.
2) Charged up.
3) Timing device functioning.
4) No major issues with steering.
5) No major issues with brakes.
6) Covers and steering wheel securely fastened.

No how hard is that?

Just realize that for $30 you are not going to get a F1 Race Team sponsored car. THey are gocarts with batteries and we are there to have fun not win sponsorships by Marlboro.

Dave & Busters is next Tuesday, already put out in email and on website.

Can someone check to see if Eddie Hill is still around. Looks like we have the choice to return if we wish. I'll duct tape my mouth shut as long as no one else complains to me about the karts and other problems we've experienced in the past.

It appears as if they are under new management. I say we go back and try them again.

Here is an e-mail I got from them today....

Thursday, September 4, 2003

Dear Mr. Thomas;

My name is Roy B Wells, General Manager of TBC Indoor Kart Racing. I have been with TBC (Canada) since the company opened over 3 years ago.

I took over TBC Dallas on August 1st and have already started making changes in our sales department (Mr. Bryan is no longer with us) and working on improving our customer service.

I apologize for Mr. Bryan's unprofessionalism and will not accept this by any of our employees.

If you feel you would like to visit TBC and be my guest for a race please feel free to contact me.

More importantly, is Eddie Hill still there? HE is the one that called me to cancel our standing schedule.

Reply from TBC regarding an e-mail sent last night complaining about Tommy Bryan. Since he is gone, maybe we should try to go back.....

Mr. Thomas,

Thank you for voicing your concerns regarding unsolicited e-mails from Tommy
Bryan at TBC Indoor Kart Racing. Unsolicited mailing is NOT a policy we at
TBC endorse and apologize for any previous inconvenience caused by Mr Bryan.
You were not the only individual to voice displeasure at Mr Bryan's
practices.

Also, you must certainly be aware that Mr Bryan is no longer employed by TBC
Indoor Kart Racing. Apparently, without our knowledge, Mr Bryan has
forwarded contacts ammassed while employed here. Unfortunately, we cannot
control what Mr Bryan does with those contacts. If you continue to receive
unsolicited mailings from Mr Bryan, you may need to forward your concerns
directly to Phat Cats management.

I've done some research and could not find your name or e-mail address in
any of our group events information, so I can honestly assure you that you
will not be recieving ANY unsolicited e-mails from sales managers here at
TBC Indoor Kart Racing.

Again, I apologize for any inconvenience as well as the horrendous customer
service that has led to you not returning to TBC. If there is anything I can
do for you in the future to make up for the poor event please do not
hesitate to let me know. We have made lots of improvements and would like
the opportunity to earn back your business.

Regards,

Greg Griffin - Sales & Sponsorship Manager

I also tried in the past to get him to stop sending e-mails. Never had any luck, and received the same e-mail you just did. I guess I'll need to take your route, and contact his new employer. That'll probably make him happy to keep getting calls.

If that does not work, this appears to be associated with a business named Phat Catz Bar & Grill, as it has a similar street address, and the prefix for it's office phone is same as the fax number in the e-mail. Can be one more place to try and stop him.

Ok. I am really f**king pissed off with Tommy Bryan, the former manager at TBC. I have talked with him on the phone and e-mailed him numerous times asking that he stop sending promo e-mails to me from TBC and requesting that I be removed from the TBC mailing list. He assured me that he would remove my name. He never did.

Today I get an e-mail from him announce that he has left TBC to join a new company and the e-mail has an attachment promoting his new catering business.

Those of us who gave permission to TBC to contact us via e-mail did not give permission for Tommy Bryan to use our contact information for his other business. He has clearly misapproriated at least my e-mail information from TBC. I was really angry today when I got the e-mail from him promoting his new business, so I called the manager of his new employer to complain. Hopefully my name will finally be removed from the e-mail list. I decided to contact TBC to let them know that its former emplyee had taken contact information from TBC for his own personal use. The number at TBC does not appear to be working. Are they out of business?

Here is the e-mail.....
