I was up at the lake yesterday and will be again this week. I go up there to run on the levee near Joe's Crabshack. Come on by and say hi...

You're right Tom is a great guy. I'd like to see your Lotus, I have always loved those cars, even though I am a die hard Fcar nut.

Wade, the gentleman said he purchased it from Ferrari of Orlando and it was still in warranty, and he told me how they come pick the car up on a flatbed ship it to Florida and 10 days later its back, fixed. Nice warranty service!
Could this be the same car?

Yellow 360, Brand New:
Yesterday in the parking lot of Save a Center on Airline Hwy in metairie a new yellow 360 pulls in, it is gorgeous!! The owner gets out so I naturally go up to talk cars and I ask if he drives it daily, yes, and loves it, no surprise.
The big surprise is he has had the clutch and motor mount replaced already.
Does anybody know whose car this is? I forgot to ask his name and wanted to ask him a few more questions.

Ok fair enough, I spoke to Wade about what you said and he confirmed it all, however, he did not know what could have cause the water pump failure, he did say Jim told him the leaking cam cover was due to a defective seal, not the workmanship. He did say that the valve job was not included in your 30k it is only done every other major sevice, and yours was not specified. Wade also told me that he indeed offered to fix the problems for free. I must say that I am very comfortable with Wade, however I have never met Dave. Each time Wade has worked on my car it has been Wade himself not anyone else. I am not sure if he did the 30k himself but I have no oil leaks. Maybe the mistake on your car whether it workmanship or parts helped add some experince to Wade being more thorough. I am very pleased with his work and would recomend him to anyone. Especially when wanting to buy a car, he made it very painless.

OK, Frank.

Robert H- Wade found my car for me too. (I am very happy with my car) Kelly referred me to him. Fortune Motors has done work to my car since. In fact, I spent about $5,000 with them during the first few months that I owned my 308QV Euro (December '01 to Feb '02). That was a water pump rebuild, 30K service, and a new muffler.
Within 5 months and 5,000 miles after Dave had replaced all this stuff, my water pump was shot again and the cam and cover seals he installed were leaking badly.
When I told Wade about my problems he told me to bring the car back and he would fix it for free. Hey, he is a man of his word, but I would lie awake at night worrying about driving it if I brought it back. I make a comfortable living, but not the sort of money to gamble a motor overhaul. No hard feelings, but I went to Jim.
It all worked out for the best anyway. My car needed the valve clearence adjusted (an adjustment that Dave would have done during my 30K if he knew how to do it and had the proper tools) and Jim Lindsy had given me a qoute for that. Since he would have had to replace the valve cover gaskets anyway, the only extra thing I had to spring for was the cam gaskets and labor. Jim looked at the belts and tensioners (he had to remove them all to make this repair) and told me that Dave had done a fine job putting them in. I then got my A/C fixed and all is now right with my world. All that and Jim still came in under his estimate. Can you blame me for plugging him?
And another thing: When Lindsey Automotive had my car he fixed the squeek in my steering wheel, adjusted my parking brake, repact my front wheel barrings, added a cooling air duct to the back of my motor... all sorts of things I didn't ask them to do. They did it out of respect for the machine... and it still less than their estimate.

Mr Pierce are you telling me there is something wrong with going to Fortune Motors. Wade did sell me the car and I felt very comfortable with him because of the great deal I got on it. He seems to know what he is doing with the service work. Do you know something I don't.

Erin, When I said I might break a belt I was referring to the repeated water pump belt failures I have had on the car. I have had many problems with the car related to the previous owners abuse and lack of servicing in a timely manner. None of the problems I had were related to any work done since I purchased the car. The belt failures were from the alt. needing shims to bring the pulley in line, it required two washers, this after I replaced a water pump, alt, and alt bushings but I replaced these items I didn't bring it anywhere. After the third belt it was personal I had to solve it myself.LOL Now when I had a problem with a lack of power in the car and I was hearing everything from blocked cats, to fuel system problems Dave Goldman correctly diagnosed it over the phone as an ignition problem, so again I am happy with the work I have had done locally .

Well, this is mighty interesting.
Robert P- never fear; there are lots of mechanics who will take your money to work on your car. Some of them are excellent mechanics, and some of them are not. Our friend, Frank, made a good point during our cruise on Saturday. He said he was afraid to "get on it" because he might break a belt.
While I doubt Frank will actually break a belt, he does introduce an interesting problem into the equation: Exactly how much do you save by going to a cheaper mechanic?

Robert you are correct about Copeland's Lambo's. They go to Performace, or that at least what the owenr of performace told me.

Al's 360 was just at Lindey's a month or two ago.
That's where I got my info from. When you see a 360 with Al's name on it at Lindey's I would guess it would be getting serviced.

Robert, I'll second that about Fortune Motors. Wade has always been helpful and his mechanic Dave Goldman did the 30K on my QV. Dave did a good job at a more than reasonable price.

Kelly you are right, Lindsey is great but Copeland brings his cars to Performance and Dan and Jim go to Lindsey, also a few guys their use Fortune Motors in Metairie, they are a small outfit seems to be pretty good with service mostly he sells and I have never had a problem there. He serviced my 328 and he also has it right now fixing a sagging drivers door. I know Jim is the best but Fortune has pretty good prices, It must be for the low overhead, He works out of his garage. There is also a place in Baton rouge call Wedgekey, don't know much about them. No affiliation not a plug yadda yadda yadda

Hello Robert,
I am from Hammond, but I bring my car to Lindsey automotive in Kenner to be serviced. They are reputable, honest, fair and very talented. The last time I brought my car to them they wound up finding other work that had to be done and took care of all sorts of other little things while still coming up under their estimate. These guys are artists. I can't say enough good about them.

You may want to post you mechanic question in the main area. If you are looking for a mondial I have an 86 cab for sale (assuming I can part with it).

Well, I have received a few requests for their own section, so we'll see how many show up.

I know the Ferrari Clubs in Louisiana are really active. Some of their events get 50+ Ferraris. It amazes me, but I guess with the French heritage they don't have any desirable cars to call their own, so they latch on to Ferrari. ;)
