Tim - You are not stupid enough!! To make a career out of suing for personal injury, you must meet the following criteria: 1. I.Q. is not to exceed 90. 2. No High School diploma. GED is allowed. 3. Have never held a job for more than 2 months. But don't lose hope Tim, dare to dream buddy!! |

If i really fall down and get hurt, i deserve the $! I'm a nice guy, so i will only sue for as much as their insurance plan will cover. So many people get rewarded for their stupidity. When is it my turn to get rewarded for MY stupidity?! |

One career option i was thinking about was suing people for personal injury. It seems like an easy job. Its not that hard to find an uneven or icy walkway, a wet floor with no "Wet Floor" sign, etc to fall on. |

I just have to say this, i crashed into a jeep! Completely demolished both cars. All i remember was red, flashing before my eyes! And then the aftermath....he was a C-O-P, tried suing me for 12 million! Settled for 50,000. |

Hey Hutch, I have a '88 YJ Wrangler with the 258 (4.2L) inline 6. I put a weber carb and DUI distributor on it but that 258 is still a tempermental engine. The jeep only weighs 3025lbs so with a posi rear end, BFG MudTerrains, and 4wd is very difficult to get stuck. The only time I did get it really stuck was off roading in the snow without chains, got hung up when I slide off the trail into a ditch while trying to make it up a steep hill. Other than that the Wrangler has been pretty good. It's got 270k miles on it but it's still in such damn good shape, no rust on the body, mechanically sound, interior's nice still. I don't know why it stays so nice, I drive it everytime it snows through all the salt, etc. when I go out and do donuts. Go figure. Tim, I don't think there is anything too unique about the quattro system, although I do still believe it is the best AWD system. I think in 1980 it was something special, but now almost all AWD systems have been based on it. It's a viscous system so it should be able to allow different amounts of slippage front and rear, left and right, theoretically giving more power to the wheels with traction. I don't know what the range is between the slippage though (ie 80%/20% to 30%/70% rear/front). 4WD is still the best though, nothing they develop AWD will ever touch it when it comes to sliding around. The big problem with idiots doing 65mph in the snow in 4WDs is when it comes time to stop for a kid on a sled, a fallen tree, etc. 1 wheel drive, 2 wheel drive, 3 wheel drive, and 4 wheel drive all take the same distance to stop. That's just common sense, although it seems common sense is no longer so common in this world. |

SUV drivers think they are invincible. Last night i saw ppl in SUV's going 40 in 30 zones with 8 inches of snow on the ground. These people dont know how to drive for . 4WD DOES help keep you on the road. My A4 with quattro went wherever i asked, i just had to turn off yaw and traction control and use the gas pedal. Does anyone know what makes quatttro somuch different from other AWD systems? So far all i know is that it can lock the front and rear diffs and transfer power side to side. what else makes it special? |

As you point out - these people are not rally drivers nor is there room on the highway to slide and error correct For the normal driver having 4 wheels moving does nothing when sliding on the snow at 60 mph. |

Tom - 4WD does keep you going where you want, just watch those rally drivers on Speedvision. Most people don't know to get on the gas and have the front wheels pull you correct. Most people also see their SUV in ads where an experienced expert driver throws the suv through the snow, which leads them to believe that they can too. The brakes won't do verymuch to stop you if you get in trouble, and that is what most suv drivers don't understand. |

yeah, I saw the fellow suv drivers spun out in snow banks early this am, Don't people realize that 4 wheel drive does nothing for keeping you on a snow packed road at 60 mph |

Hey Bret - What Jeep you got? A CJ? Wrangler? My bad ass Cherokee got stuck in my parking lot this morning. Since I was the 1st in this morning, I had to brave the unplowed snow. My cherokee did all right until I parked it to put the guard doggies (Rottweilers!!) in their warm cage area. Got back in and tried to back out. A tow strap and a chevy S-10 pulled me out. Now I owe my friend Dom coffee for the week... |

The snow is great, makes me not feel so bad for taking so long on my ridiculous 308 projects. It also justifies my owning a Jeep, which is arguably the worst vehicle to drive the 360 days a year that it is not snowing, those five days though the Jeep is in its glory. |
