Berlinetta in Huntington. He had a couple of outstanding Ferraris. T/R, Boxer, and a real Daytona spyder. I think he has a web site.

Think I covered every road on teh island. They're probably still looking for the driver of the green car speeding around stopping every so often to ask directions to Planet Bliss.

I had a fantastic time. It was great to meat all of you! Because I had to leave in a hurry, didn't really get to say much before I left:

Sam and Barney - Thanks for organizing the event, I had a great time.

Keith and Rob - I still can't believe we made it from LGA to Applebees in under 25 minutes in moderate to heavy traffic! How fast were we going?

Ed - I'll follow you next time and skip the shortcut.

Gregory - You're more than welcome to drive the TR next time we meet.

John - I'll check on the garage for you - will know availability by tomorrow.

I look forward to seeing you all again soon!

What a great event. I enjoyed it immensily. I met so many great people and the driving was amazing. Even the wives and girlfriends got into the event which was nice to see. We did not want to see them board. Now here are the special thank you's. LOL!

David, who was new to the group was a very cool guy. My brother was talking to him forever and my brother is very quiet. It was pretty funny. Don't forget to give me a call so that we can maybe meet up in the city on day.

Thank you VERY much "Barney & Sam" (LOL) for this great event.

Thank you Greg for the great discussions and help to get back home. By the way the reason I was trying to talk to you was to tell you that I was going to get gas but it helped anyway because you told me to stay on the road. I got to visit my cousins with no problem. Thank for everything!!!

Talk you all soon

Keith

P.S I will try to post some pictures. Also Tom (I Think) try not to find anymore "lost" Coke Cans.

Hi All: It was great meeting everyone! Anyone who has a negative image of Ferrari Owners ought to have been with us Saturday. What a nice group people, no matter what vintage of F car (or other great car) they were driving. This went well solely because everyone was easygoing, and just looking for a nice day out enjoying cars, countryside and companionship, (you know, the "Three C's").
RE: "Let's Do it Again" Answer: Yes. Barney and I met for a post ROE coffee klatch, and plotted our next move. The only idea he and I disagree on is the name of the Enterprise: Barney & Sam ("BS" wouldn't work, I think). Anyway, we learned some things and have ideas to improve the next one(s), and other big ideas. Stay tuned!
Thanks again to everyone who joined in.

Well, let me be the first to say what a great day this was. Many thanks to Sam and Barney for all the time and effort they put into organizing this event. It was nice to have such a good turnout and to see everyone again and meet many others for the first time. I know there are going to be a lot of pictures posted and I can't wait to see them. The east end of Long Island may never be the same after today. The sight and sound of all the cars driving down Sound Ave. was amazing... it really should have been on video. When the road went to 4 lanes and we all switched into "sport mode" (to steal a term from Barney) it was fantastic. I was toward the middle of the group so I feel like I really got the full effect. I think Rob Ferretti should get an award for playing "chicken" with that farm tractor. Ahhhhhh...... what a day!!! Let's do it again! :-)

New to the group, love Ferrari. As for Todd328gts, please don't say those roads are that bad, I have to take my fiance to an engagement party today in LI; rather spend the day driving around in a Ferrari.

ROE NEWS UPDATE:
Good suggestion from Josh, which I can't do:
"Maybe someone should cut/past the Ferrarichat logo onto some Avery labels and put them on the non F-car's windscreen so you guys can know who is in your group.

Maybe even put them on yourselves when you are waiting at Applebees so you know who to look for."

SUGGEST YOU CUT, PASTE, PRINT, BRING TO ROE
SUMMARY:
~10/11, 10:00AM APPLEBEES off LIE exit 63
ROE Itinerary and Directions

Cell Phone Number for Sam: TBA

(Ferraris will caravan together first, then all other cars in the Party to follow).

10:30: Leave Applebee's for
"Galluccio Family Wineries" 24385 Main Road Cutchogue, New York (631) 734-7089

DIRECTIONS to "Galluccio Family Wineries"
LIE (495) east to exit 73 (last exit).
Go five miles east on Route 58. At about mile five, Route 58 becomes Route 25 at the large, highway-like intersection with Route 105. Continue on Route 25 for approximately eight miles.

Once in Cutchogue, look for the large "Galluccio Family Wineries" signs on the left.
There will be an area for us next to the tasting room on the grass. We can line the cars up on angle and they will try to have someone there to assist us. The wine tasting is $7pp. We will be there approximately 1.5hrs.

1:00 PM: At no later than 1:00 PM, we will head to "Planet Bliss Restaurant"
23 North Ferry Road (Rte 114)
Shelter Island, NY
(631) 749-0053

DIRECTIONS to ""Planet Bliss Restaurant"
We will proceed EAST on Route 25 about 10 miles to the North Shelter Island Ferry
(631)-749-0139
Watch for the signs for the Ferry.
The ONLY way to take a car to Shelter Island is by Ferry Boat.
It is a relatively small boat, holding about 15 cars. There is no inclined ramp or curb. You drive straight on and drive out the other side straight off. Once on the Ferry, you will be approached by one of the crew. Tell them you want a ONE WAY Ticket. Car and driver: $8.00

Once off the Ferry, you will be on Route 114 (North Ferry Road). The restaurant is on this road (23 North Ferry Road). There will be parking off street for Ferraris. After they are parked, all other cars in the caravan may take any remaining spaces.

We should arrive at Planet Bliss Restaurant no later than 2:30.

The restaurant features both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, with prices at about 10.00 per dish. We will be set up at several individual tables, and each table will receive its own check.

After lunch, we will travel to the SOUTH Ferry. All the same notes as to the North Ferry Apply. We will get back on Route 114; it will become South Ferry Road and lead us to the South Ferry. 631-749-1200 Car & Driver $7.00, $1.00 for each additional passenger.

The Ferry will let us off on the South Fork of LI, at Sag Harbor. Route 114 continues here. Follow a short distance to a traffic circle. Follow it around so that you are making a left to continue on Route 114. You will cross a small bridge. At the Intersection, make a right onto Main Street. We can decide the day of if we wish to hang out in Sag Harbor (it is very nice). If so, there is a small side street on the right leading to a free municipal parking lot after you take the right on Main Street.
We will proceed south on Main Street until we hit Route 27. We will take that West, and each individual will be on their own.

Ciao

Anyone want to caravan out together? I was thinking to meet up with Rob at the Mobil on the Grand Central eastbound across from Laguardia Airport between 8:00 to 8:15 AM.
If you want to come along, I'll meet you there. Otherwise, see ya at Applebees.

Hi Guys!

I finally have a few minutes to myself. I am now enjoying a nice cup of espresso while I write. AHHHH.

Here is the whole winery deal. I do not know if everyone attending is going to be tasting or not. Tasting is of course completely up to you. The woman in charge of affairs at the winery said usually when groups come, up to 1/2 the people usually do not taste. Therefore, I pre-purchased 15 "tickets". If we need more they will be supplied and charged to me. If we need less, they will just credit me. The tasting is $7, but it is not that simple. The tasting will comprise of up to 15 wines including the wineries special reserve wines. The tastings take place at 3 "levels". "Level" 1 is all their complimentary wines which you do not have to pay for at all! The next "level" 2 is some more of their wines and is $4 and the last "level" 3 which is all their wines including their reserve wines $7. SO, if you use your ticket for say "level" 2 at $4, you can have the other $3 put towards a bottle of wine if you end up liking something and wish to purchase a bottle. This is how she explained it to me. We chose this winery because of the beautiful grounds, they have 15 wines, will give us 4-5 picnic tables and a covered porch (in case of rain) and most importantly - they will accomodate us with the cars.

ROE NEWS UPDATE:
SUMMARY:
~10/11, 10:00AM APPLEBEES off LIE exit 63
~I NEED A HEAD COUNT FROM THOSE WHO HAVE NOT REPLIED...
~LOOKS LIKE NO RAIN!
~WINERY CHOSEN
~RESTAURANT CHOSEN

1) 10/11 IS THE DATE

2) Meeting Time is 10:00, leaving by 10:30.
This is to account for the possibility of heavy traffic on the holiday weekend.

3) We now have the following:
Andy
Barney
Gregory
Sam
Billy
Ed
Dave
John
Rob
DES
David
Frank
(= 12 cars).

4) We will meet meet at Applebees off Exit 63 of the Long Island Expressway (LIE). The Applebees is just North of the LIE, on the right.

Meeting time 10:00 AM. We leave Applebees at about 10:30 AM.

5). We will travel on 25/LIE or 25a east from Applebees. Then, hit a winery on the north fork at around 12. Barney did a great job. Here is what he has lined up: The winery is Gallucicio Family Wineries. (www.gristinawines.com) on Rt.
25 in Cutchogue. They have made an area for us next to the tasting room on a
patch of grass. We can line the cars up on angle and they will try to have
someone there to assist us. It will have the winery and the vinyards as a
background for pictures. Wine Testing will be about $7.00/person. We will spend about an hour and a half at the winery, give or take. This will allow us time to partake a bit, then clear up for the short ride to Shelter Island.

6) We will have a late lunch on Shelter Island around 2:30. We are on the way off Shelter Island around 4 or so.
A Restaurant on Shelter Island can accomodate us all with off street parking for all f cars:
Planet Bliss
Shelter Island/Shelter Island Heights
23 N. Ferry Rd. (Duval St.) Shelter Island, NY, 11964 (631) 749-0053

7) I AM ASKING FOR A HEAD COUNT, SO I KNOW HOW MANY WILL BE ATTENDING LUNCH. There are 12 cars, so I am going to average it out to 30 people, unless I get a clear count. For example, there will be 5 in my party, including an 'escort" car (not a Ford escort).

8) If people can get "walkie talkies" it would make car to car communication possible.

9) I will provide my cell phone number for those who need to communicate with me any time up to an including the run. Please e-mail me via the website and I will e-mail back the cell number. You can call the day of in case you are lost, running late, etc.

10) I will check the board every day for questions comments and suggestions, and ask that you do the same.

Thanks
Sam

Its not supposed to rain, but even if it does, its nothing a couple hours of detailing can't fix. I look forward to seeing you all there.

Thanks to Sam and Barney for setting this up.

Sam,

Thanks for the compliment on the winery, but lets see how it works out. It took a lot of leg work to set this up for a bunch of reasons.

1) This weekend is the start of harvest season for the wineries. The wineries were very helpful but wished we had chosen an earlier date.

2) Parties - lots of parties at the wineries this time of year.

3) Columbus Day Weekend. The biggest weekend of the year for the wineries. The wineries are packed with tasters and events plus all the additional people who are there this time of the year for apple/pumpkin/fruit/ etc picking. This winery is going to set up a seperate area for us if it gets crowded. However, they think 12 noon will not be busy yet.

4) They will have 4-5 picnic tables set up outside for us so we can sit after our tasting. I am supplying some cheese and bread for us. I will also be supplying bottled water. My good friend is an importer of Sicilian/ Italian cheeses. We have a nice lunch planned but feel free to bring a LIGHT snack if you like.

5) The winery tasting is not free. I am going to pay for this ahead of time.

I think this is going to be nice!

ROE NEWS UPDATE:
SUMMARY:
~10/11, 10:00AM APPLEBEES off LIE exit 63
~I NEED A HEAD COUNT...
~WHO WILL STILL ATTEND IF IT RAINS?????
~WINERY CHOSEN!

1) 10/11 IS THE DATE

2) It may rain. Who is still in?? This is important info. I am, and so too is Barney. Anyone else???
Sunday may rain too, so as of now, no rain date.

2) NEW Meeting Time is 10:00, leaving by 10:30.
This is to account for the possibility of heavy traffic on the holiday weekend.

3) We now have the following:
Andy
Barney
Gregory
Sam
Billy
Ed
Dave
John
Rob
DES
Joshua
David

We will spend about an hour and a half at the winery, give or take. This will allow us time to partake a bit, then clear up for the short ride to Shelter Island.

6) We will have a late lunch on Shelter Island around 2:30. We are on the way off Shelter Island around 4 or so.
A Restaurant on Shelter Island can accomodate us all with off street parking for all f cars. Restaurant to be announced tomorrow (Weds.). Reasonable prices, varied menu.

Thanks
Sam

ROE on 10/11 NEWS UPDATE:

1) Meeting place, APPLEBEES off EXIT 63 (not 62).

2) A good idea is for anyone, in f-car or not that is going to be in the caravan, to try to get a hold of an FRS. Kevin notes:
"FRS radios are those little "walkie talkies" people commonly use at malls or on vacations. We use them for road trips all the time. Range is pretty good, and they all should be compatable, no matter brand."
Should be able to get them in a Radio Shack. I have even seen them in Rite Aid.
They are not too expensive.

Exactly what kind of radio/transmitters should we have?
I thought about the parking. The best place I know of for parking I think is closed for the season. Shouldn't be a problem, though.
