Had to jump start my car today and after it started with a battery booster the entire a/c heater control panel is dead. Tried all fuses but still no power any suggestions? All other lights, radio, gages, etc all work fine.

    Thanks!

    Welcome to Fchat Don. :):)

Sounds like a case of the "blown hidden fuse" mate. :p:p

It is under the LH corner of the boot trim. There is a fuse there at always seems to blow.:rolleyes:

Here is what the fuse looked like last time it blew in my car, around 5 months ago. :):)

Sorry for my lack of knowledge of 348 locations, but where is the left hand boot trim???? Is it under the drivers side near the clutch pedal?

I've never tried to find mine, but Pap, since you have an RHD car, are you sure the fuse location is on the same side for an LHD car? I guess yours is on the passenger side, so do you think it's always on the passenger side whether it's RHD or LHD? Just trying to save a Brother from any confusion. :)

All of us driving on the "right" side of the road have that fuse on the right side.

    Upper right corner.

I had the same problem and completely replaced the fuse with a heavy duty replaceable one used in car stereo installations. I also rerouted it so I didn't have to remove that trunk ("boot" for PAP, haha) cover again. Total cost was about $20.00.

PAP, arent you confusing our m8 Don??? the AC fuse unit is located on the OTHER side...remember you
    have a RHD...and I assume Don has a LHD.

I do have some pics about this problem....hang on....

Damnit  I cant find them dude...

But the procedure is pretty much as Pap said, only on the other side (passenger side)

Does the fan blows??? while the panel is dead/out??
In that case you can aslo unscrew the 2 nuts in the shift gate, then lift
the shift gate (no need to undo the gear knob)
Now you can pull out the entire AC control panel with your bare hands, behind
the panel you'll see a fat cable in a yellow socket, use a pair of pliers and lift
    out/up the black plastic "locker"
Then pull out the socket and and spay the pins with a elecrto spary.

I did that and it worked perfectly! :)

Thanks mate. I forgot to reply to this. :):)

    I get ya. ;);)

Thanks mate. Yes, I am RHD and taking a wild guess, he owns a LHD 348. :):)

I had to do that once. But I was lucky. All I did was remove the plug and replaced it and it worked again. :D:D

    Thanks again mate. ;);)

That is what I will be doing next time me thinks. This has only happened twice to me and I think its twice too many!! ;);)

Gimme, I did as shown in the 4th picture. I have no fuses in an inline fashion as depicted. Your wire loom comes out of the rubber plug at the top. All I have fuse wise is what is mounted as shown. My wire loom is all plastic plugs with no fuses in between. Any other suggestions?
    Thanks!

I pulled out all the connectors and sprayed them with cleaner and put them all back together. VIOLA! The a/c panel came back to life. Here is a picture of my car. So apparently not all cars have the inline fuses. FYI!

Thanks for all the help guys!

I'm having the same issue, Last week the console was fine, Couple of day's later clock blinking 0.00, Now the whole thing has no power at all.

I tried all of the recommendations, ie took console apart sprayed connector's with electro spray.Took it right out , opened her up and sprayed in there as well. Found the hidden fuse location and the 30 fuse looked normal, Sprayed the 30 and the 3 fuse

However I just noticed on this picture that Don took that I dont have the 30 fuse to the far left. What's that one for?

Also I found out today that someone had installed a speaker in a custom made box in the passenger footrest. Nice job actually! But I dont care for the stereo anyway and I might be taking all this out.

In the passenger footwell fuse location which ones are used for the ac panel? I read somewhere 6 and 10 but I'm missing the fuse box cover probably because of that flippin speaker box!!

I just had this problem happen to me (1995 Spider USA) last week. So today I peeled back the trunk liner and found a blown 30A fuse. But as you can see from the picture, my setup does not look like either of the cars previously shown in this thread. It looks like sometime in the past that the stock setup was replaced with an aftermarket inline fuse. Anyway, I replaced the fuse with a 40A fuse for testing and everything works. I went to three auto parts stores and none of them had the large diameter fuse in 30A so I'll have to keep looking this afternoon.
Thanks to FChat I'll soon be wrapping up what could have been a scary repair for $10. Awesome.

Good to see someone has fitted an aftermarket fuse holder. :D:D

That is my next plan of attack when my fuse blows again. as that usually fixes that "hidden fuse" problem. :D:D

But...............strange how it has still blown that fuse.:eek:

Just goes to show how bad that circuit is. :(:(

It looks like my problem may be more than just the fuse. The new fuse blew after one week.

And the whole system didn't fail at once. As I was driving, I could feel the temperature of the air getting warmer out of the vents even though the panel still had power and the controls looked like they were working. I could adjust the fan speed and the desired temperature setting, but the air wasn't cooling. This went on for about five minutes as I was driving down the freeway and then the panel went dark.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? Any hints on what to check on that circuit are appreciated.

    Thanks.

These clocks are tricky alright. I forgot I posted on here so here's my update.

Found the correct fuse and it was melted. Installed new 30amp fuse and still no power after I installed it. So I ran out of time and just left it for the next weekend.. Well the next weekend came and I turned on my ignition and Voila!! It's working again. I can't explain it, But now that I posted this I will be jinxed when I go to take her out tomorrow wont I, lol

I had the same problem and could not find the correct fuze until this post. Thanks

Im wondering, my fuze was also melted (30amp). And this worries me a little. What could be the reason for it blowing?

    Hey Guys,
Same problem.. however the fuse looks fine. My mecanic says its probably The display that has stopped working.
But just to make sure, this is the fuse right?

    thx
