    Been in the Pacific and Southeast Asia the last 3+ weeks on work. After enjoying a Typhoon in the Shanghai area, I headed for Shenzhen and then was onto Hong Kong.

    One of our great F-chatters, Jason, responded to my post in the Asia section about getting together while I was in town. I really enjoy meeting great owners during my travels. He had just had a baby and was happy to get out for a few hours to show me the area.

    I had been to Hong Kong once but only to go to the airport in the middle of rainy weather.

    I made it to my hotel in the Central area and grabbed a cab to meet up with Jason. His car was easy to spot at the meeting point and after I asked the cabbie to flip a U-turn, I met up with the Aussie F355 owner. After 2 weeks in China, I was happy to get back to English around me.

    Loved the Toyota cabs with their rack mounted gear changes...

    Jason was nice enough to get me out to some of his favorite roads and I got to really experience some great areas.

    I wasn't used to sitting on the left without the steering wheel in front of me...

    Jason's F355 was a 1996 that he bought back around 2001.

    He had it repainted from Rosso Corsa to its current:

    Rosso Scuderia with that hint of more orange

    It looks pretty amazing.

    Great stories about the history of the area as well as other local F-car owners and collections.

    One owner drives an F355 regularly and has 2 other brand new F355 at home in the garage frozen upon delivery. I also learned that there are over 18 LaFerrari's in HK.

    And I have to say I liked their license plates.

    The roads were in pretty good shape and had plenty of ups and downs throughout the terrain with curves everywhere. Contrary to what I thought before arriving, HK seemed like a good place for ownership.

    Jason has put good upgrades on his car with around 90,000 kilometers covered - most on his watch. He has Tubi headers and exhaust installed after going through two sets of split oem units. He has also replaced the cats and fuse board under the passenger footwell and other odds and ends. He is like most of us in trying to enjoy our passion and keeps his car in great shape. He also recently rebuilt his engine and really notices how much better it is now. It felt great and was just like I was at home in AZ in mine plus the humidity of course.

    He also had carbon wheel caps...

    Along the journey, there were porsche's everywhere - like the Camry of HK...

    A BMW i8 kept up with us. One of the bridges was pretty narrow, so we had to pull in the mirrors, carefully of course.

    We finished up the long scenic drive and headed for lunch at a popular shopping area. Jason said that he is comfortable driving his car pretty much anywhere in the area. The people of HK show a lot of considerate behavior toward exotics and respect them without owners worrying about mischief or vandalism.

    So Jason was nice enough to drop me back off at the hotel. We timed it perfectly for me to head into a photo shoot later that afternoon and evening for the architecture of the new cruise ship terminal and to get some skyline shots for my client to discuss the economics involved. It was a great day. Thanks so much to Jason for his time and hospitality. I look forward to returning the favor when he heads over to AZ later this year.

    How about his car in Rosso Scuderia? It was fantastic.

    Just came back from a whirlwind trip back to HK for a family event. Next time on a more relaxed schedule I would love to meet up with some of the F355 crowd!!

    Great stories and photos, Robb. It's a pretty good city for car spotting! Lots of unique metal there.

    Great that you guys got together in Hong Kong, my favourite place having been there 14 times and with such a strong economy the cars there are amazing.!
    Great photo from The Peak showing the skyline, an amazing view!
    I hope to return some time this year.

    You took some great photos, love the one from the Peak and the one with the BMW following us.

    For those who asked, my 355 suspension is stock set at the lower limit. Sometimes it's a bit low.

    Only been to New Zealand (your next door neighbor) for a two-week photo trip. Australia has been on my radar for a while, but haven't had any work there yet to make the trip easy to decide.

    My guess is a visit is imminent in 2016. Traveling for me makes life fun... besides F-car ownership.
